 l If a friend is not in a Hangout, you will see a message. Tap INVITE to invite them to join the 
Hangout.
Hangouts Operations
 n Ending a Chat: In the Hangouts window, flick the chat from left to right.
 n Ending a Video Chat: In the video chat window, tap .
 n Disabling Chat History: If you don’t want to keep chat history, in the chat window, tap Menu  
> Turn history off.
 n Delete Chat History: To delete all your chat history in the chat window, tap Menu  > Delete > 
Delete.
Note: You can use Hangouts as your tablet’s default messaging app, or as a standalone IM app.
Google Search
Search information saved on the tablet and in tablet applications as well as on the Internet.
Use Google Search
Type search terms in the Google Search bar to find information on your tablet and around the globe.
 1. From the home screen, tap the Google search bar or tap Apps  > Google .
The Search window opens.
 l If confirmation appears, follow onscreen instructions.
 l If a description for Google Now appears, tap Next and read information. Tap Enable on the 
last page if you want to use Google Now.
 2. Type your search keywords and tap Search .
Search results appear.
 l To search by voice, tap  in the search bar and speak your search terms.
Google Search Operations
 n Changing Search Information: In the search window, tap Menu  > Settings > Tablet 
search and select where to search.
 n Using Google Now: Google Now automatically searches for information based on search 
keywords used, your current location, etc., and presents search results in the search screen. 
Google Now also informs users of scheduled events.

 l To enable Google Now, in the search window, tap Menu  > Settings > Now cards > 
Show cards  > SET UP > YES, I’M IN.
 n Canceling Google Now: In the search window, tap Menu  > Settings > Now cards > 
Show cards .
Use Google Voice Search
Use your voice to search instead of typing, with Google Voice Search.
 1. From home, tap Apps  > Voice Search .
The Voice Search window opens.
 2. Speak your search terms.

Calculator
Your tablet’s convenient built-in calculator lets you perform basic mathematical equations. 
 1. From home, tap Apps  > Calculator .

Calendar
Use Calendar to create and manage events, meetings, and appointments. Your Calendar helps 
organize your time and reminds you of important events. Depending on your synchronization 
settings, your tablet’s Calendar stays in sync with your Calendar on the Web, Exchange ActiveSync 
calendar, Google Calendar, and Outlook calendar.
In order to sync with your Google calendar, you must sign in to a Google Account on your tablet. See 
Google Account.
Calendar Operations
 n View Today’s Calendar: From the Calendar, tap .
 n Change Calendar View: From the Calendar, tap  to choose Day, Week, or Month to 
change the current view.
 n View Next/Previous Day (Day Viewyf: From the Calendar, flick the screen left or right.
 n View Next/Previous Week (Week Viewyf: From the Calendar, tap  to choose Week and flick 
the screen left or right.
 n View Next/Previous Month (Month Viewyf: From the Calendar, tap  to choose Month and 
flick the screen left or right.
Add an Event to the Calendar
Add events to your calendar directly from the Calendar application.
 1. From home, tap Calendar .

The Calendar app opens.
 2. Tap  or touch and hold an empty place and choose New event.
The add event window opens.
 3. Enter an event title, start date/time, end date/time, etc., and then tap SAVE.
The event is added to your calendar.

Selecting a Calendar
 n If you have more than one calendar, select a calendar in which to add events:
 l Select My Calendar to create an event that will appear only on your tablet.
 l Select your Google Account to create a Google Calendar event. If you have several Google 
Calendars on the Web, select one in which to add your event.
 o You can create multiple Google Calendars only in Google Calendar on the Web. After 
creating them in Google Calendar on the Web, you’ll be able to see them in the Calendar 
application on your tablet. For more information about creating and managing multiple 
Google Calendars, visit the Google website: calendar.google.com.
 l If you have synchronized your tablet with an Exchange ActiveSync account or Outlook on 
your computer, you can also select these calendars. 
 l Select PC Sync to create an Outlook Calendar event to sync with your computer.
 l Select Exchange to create an Exchange ActiveSync calendar event.
View Calendar Events
You can display the Calendar in daily, weekly, or monthly view. To change the Calendar view, tap 
Schedule, Month, Week, Day.
 1. From home, tap Calendar .
The Calendar app opens.

 2. Tap a date and then tap an event.
The event details appear.
 l In event details, tap  to edit the event.
 l In event details, tap DELETE and follow the prompts.
Sync Calendars
You can select which calendars you’d like to sync on your tablet, along with what types of information 
you want to sync.

Synchronize an Exchange Calendar 
If you have set up a Microsoft Exchange account on your tablet, you can synchronize Exchange 
calendar events from your tablet. Calendar events on your Exchange will also show in Calendar if

you chose to synchronize with the Exchange Server.
 1. From home, tap Apps  > Settings  > Accounts.
  
 l To confirm your sync settings, tap the account name and make sure the Calendar is turned 
on .
 2. Tap  > Sync now.
Note: If Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync doesn’t appear under the Accounts heading in the Settings 
menu, you do not have an Exchange ActiveSync account configured on the tablet. For information 
about adding an account, see Add an Exchange Account.
Time
Your tablet has a time app that lets you set alarms, view time in time zones around the world, use a 
stopwatch, set a timer, and use your tablet as a desk clock.
Check the Time
You can check the time on your tablet. The current time displays in the upper right corner of the 
status bar. Many widgets and lock screens also display the time and provide options for how time is 
displayed.
Set Alarms
Set multiple alarms using your tablet’s Time app.
