LIGHTING SYSTEM 8-19 EAS27260 TROUBLESHOOTING Any of the following fail to light: headlight, high beam indicator light, taillight, license light or meter light. NOTE: Before troubleshooting, remove the following part(s): 1 Rider and passenger seat 2 Fuel tank 3 Air filter caseNG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ 1 Check the each bulbs and bulb sockets condition. Refer to CHECKING THE BULBS AND BULB SOCKETS on page 8- 96. Replace the bulb(s) and bulb socket(s). 2 Check the fuses. (Main, headlight and tail/beake light) Refer to CHECKING THE FUSES on page 8-97. Replace the fuse(s). 3 Check the battery. Refer to CHECKING AND CHARGING THE BATTERY on page 8-97. Clean the battery terminals. Recharge or replace the battery. 4 Check the main switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. Replace the immobilizer kit. 5 Check the dimmer switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. The dimmer switch is faulty. Replace the left handlebar switch. 6 Check the pass switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. The pass switch is faulty. Replace the left handlebar switch. 7 Check the rear brake light switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. The rear brake light switch is faulty. Replace the rear brake light switch.
LIGHTING SYSTEM 8-20 NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ 8 Check the headlight relay (on/off). Refer to CHECKING THE RELAYS on page 8-100. Replace the headlight relay. 9 Check the headlight relay (dimmer) (FZ1-S). Refer to CHECKING THE RELAYS on page 8-100. Replace the headlight relay. 10 Check the entire lighting system’s wiring. Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM (FZ1-N) on page 8-15. Properly connect or repair the lighting system’s wiring. This circuit is OK.

SIGNALING SYSTEM 8-23 EAS27290 TROUBLESHOOTING Any of the following fail to light: turn signal light, brake light or an indicator light. The horn fails to sound. NOTE: Before troubleshooting, remove the following part(s): 1 Rider and passenger seat 2 Fuel tank 3 Air filter caseNG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ Check the signaling system The horn fails to sound. NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ 1 Check the fuses. (Main, ignition, signal and tail/brake light) Refer to CHECKING THE FUSES on page 8-97. Replace the fuse(s). 2 Check the battery. Refer to CHECKING AND CHARGING THE BATTERY on page 8-97. Clean the battery terminals. Recharge or replace the battery. 3 Check the main switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. Replace the immobilizer kit. 4 Check the entire signaling system’s wiring. Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on page 8-21. Properly connect or repair the signal- ing system’s wiring. This circuit is OK. 1 Check the horn switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. Replace the left handlebar switch. 2 Check the horn. Refer to CHECKING THE HORN on page 8-106. Replace the horn.
SIGNALING SYSTEM 8-24 NG→ OK ↓ The tail/brake light fails to come on. NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ The turn signal light, turn signal indicator light or both fail to blink. NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ 3 Check the entire signaling system’s wiring. Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on page 8-21. Properly connect or repair the signal- ing system wiring. This circuit is OK. 1 Check the tail/brake light bulb and socket. Refer to CHECKING THE BULBS AND BULB SOCKETS on page 8- 96. Replace the tail/brake light bulb, socket or both. 2 Check the front brake light switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. Replace the front brake light switch. 3 Check the rear brake light switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. Replace the rear brake light switch. 4 Check the entire signaling system’s wiring. Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on page 8-21. Properly connect or repair the signal- ing system’s wiring. This circuit is OK. 1 Check the turn signal bulb. Refer to CHECKING THE BULBS AND BULB SOCKETS on page 8- 96. Replace the turn signal bulb. 2 Check the turn signal switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. Replace the left handlebar switch.
SIGNALING SYSTEM 8-25 NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ The neutral indicator light fails to come on. NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ The oil level warning light fails to come on. NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ The fuel level warning light fails to come on. 3 Check the hazard switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. Replace the left handlebar switch. 4 Check the turn signal/hazard relay. Refer to CHECKING THE RELAYS on page 8-100. Replace the turn signal/hazard relay. 5 Check the entire signaling system’s wiring. Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on page 8-21. Properly connect or repair the signal- ing system’s wiring. This circuit is OK. 1 Check the neutral switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. Replace the neutral switch. 2 Check the entire signaling system’s wiring. Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on page 8-21. Properly connect or repair the signal- ing system’s wiring. This circuit is OK. 1 Check the oil level switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-93. Replace the oil level switch. 2 Check the entire signaling system’s wiring. Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on page 8-21. Properly connect or repair the signal- ing system’s wiring. This circuit is OK.
SIGNALING SYSTEM 8-26 NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ The speedometer fails to operate. NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ 1 Check the fuel sender. Refer to CHECKING THE FUEL SENDER on page 8-107. Replace the fuel pump assembly. 2 Check the entire signaling system’s wiring. Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on page 8-21. Properly connect or repair the signal- ing system’s wiring. This circuit is OK. 1 Check the speed sensor. Refer to CHECKING THE SPEED SENSOR on page 8-107. Replace the speed sensor. 2 Check the entire signaling system’s wiring. Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on page 8-21. Properly connect or repair the signal- ing system’s wiring. Replace the meter assembly.
