2. Lift up the paper guide behind the front door until it snaps into the up position, then gently pull 
out any jammed paper.
3. Check for any paper that might have misfed from a lower tray. If you find any, gently pull it up and 
out in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the following illustration. Confirm that all 
paper fragments have been removed. Lower the paper guide.

2. Remove the top sheet from the tray.
3. Verify that the paper is loaded correctly in the tray. Adjust the length and width paper guides:
a.Length guide: Press the sides, then slide the guide until the arrow on the guide points to the 
appropriate paper size imprinted on the bottom of the tray. When properly positioned, the 
guide clicks into place.

b.Width guides: Slide the width guides until the arrows on the guides point to the appropriate 
paper size labeled on the bottom of the tray. When properly positioned, the guides click into 
place.
Note:When the paper guides are correctly adjusted, there may be a small space between the 
paper and the guides.
4. Check the tray slot for jammed paper that may be hanging down from the top of the slot.

5. If you find hanging paper, do not pull it out; instead, do the following:
a. Open front door A.
b. Remove the jammed paper by gently pulling it up and out. Confirm that all paper fragments 
have been removed.

Jam at Trays 3, 4, or 5
Note:Use only paper of the approved type, weight, and size for the tray being used. Print custom-
size paper from Tray 1 only.
To clear a jam from Trays 3–5:
1. Pull the tray completely out of the printer.
2. Remove the top sheet from the tray.

4. Check the tray slot for jammed paper that may be hanging down from the top of the slot.
5. If there is jammed paper hanging from the top of the tray slot, pull the tray above it completely 
out of the printer. You should be able to see the top of the paper emerging from the base of the 
tray above. Grasp the paper with both hands and gently pull it up and out of the printer.
