    							5THE DSS/BLF ADJUNCT
The DSS/BLF (Direct Station Select/Busy Line Flashing) Adjunct is a device
that works along with an NBX Business Telephone to speed call handling.
It enables a receptionist or attendant to handle higher call volumes more
efficiently. Although primarily used by receptionists and attendants, it can
also be used by busy sales representatives, for example, and others that
make frequent calls to the same telephone numbers.
The DSS/BLF has 50 Access buttons that support the same functions and
have the same behavior as the 12 Access buttons (with LEDs) on the
Business Telephone. In effect, the DSS/BLF Adjunct is an extension of the
telephone that it is assigned to. The Access buttons can have two sets of
assignments, 1–50 and 51–100. You can toggle between the two by
    pressing the Shift button.
The administrator can assign many uses to each Access button including:
    nInternal and external telephone lines
    nSpeed dials for the following:
    nUser extensions
    nPager numbers
    nCellular telephone numbers
    nMessage Waiting Indicators for:
    nGroup mailboxes
    nPhantom and Personal mailboxes

    assigned are enabled.
Labels — You can create professional looking labels by opening the label

it; this is available free of charge from the Adobe Web site:
www.adobe.com. For more information, see “Telephone and DSS/BLF
    Label Makers” on page 58.

    Moving Your
TelephoneAll NBX Business Telephones have the Automatic Telephone Relocation
feature. Each telephone has a unique “address” built-in. This allows you
to move your telephone to another location, connecting it to any other
Ethernet jack on the LAN, and still maintain all of your telephone’s
personalized features, speed dials, and even your telephone extension.
    Swapping
TelephonesSince your extension and personal settings are associated with your
telephone, you cannot swap your telephone with another user’s without
first having the administrator re-associate each of your settings with the
    other telephone.
    Cleaning Your
TelephoneAlways unplug your telephone before cleaning. Use a damp cloth with
    mild detergent.
WARNING: Failure to unplug the telephone before cleaning could result
    in electrical shock.
    Troubleshooting
Possible ProblemsThe troubleshooting quick reference lists possible problems that you
might encounter and the most likely solutions. Each solution has a
reference to the page in this guide where you can find detailed
    information.
