    STATUS INDICATORS
    MAINTENANCE REQUIRED
    When the maintenance required () indicator lights up, service by
    an authorized Sharp Service Technician is required. Contact your
    Service Center as soon as possible.

    Finished copies are deposited in the exit tray.
    eDocument cover (optional in some areas)
    Place the original on the document glass and
    close the document cover before copying starts.
    rOperation panel
    All copier controls are located here for easy
    operation.
    tDocument glass
    Place the document to be copied here.
    yPaper clip tray
    Keep paper clips here.
    uOriginal size detector
    Detects the size of the original. Do not place
    objects under this.
    iManual feed tray paper guides
    Adjust to the width of the copy paper.
    oManual feed tray
    Special papers (including transparency film) and
    copy paper can be fed from the manual feed tray.
    !0Exit area cover
    Open to remove misfed paper.!1Power switch
    Press to turn copier power on and off.
    !2Duplex module or 500-sheet paper drawer
    (optional)
    The copier can be equipped with either a duplex
    module or a 500-sheet paper drawer.
    The front of the copier is closed up with a cover
    when neither of these is required.
    The duplex module provides duplex copying
    capability.
    !3Lower paper tray
    Holds 500 sheets of paper. Copy paper size can
    be changed by changing the inner cassette.
    !4Front cover
    Open to remove misfeeds and to service the
    copier.
    !5Toner collecting container cover
    Open to replace the toner collecting container.
    !6Handles
    !7Side cover
    Open to remove misfeeds in the paper feed area.

    Turn to open the transport section.

    The unit is used to charge the photoconductive

    Copy images are formed on the photoconductive
    drum.
    @2Toner hopper
    Contains toner.
    @3Roller rotating knobs
    Turn to remove misfed paper.
    @4Toner hopper lock lever
    Pull down to release the toner hopper.
    @5Toner collecting container
    Used toner is collected here. Replace when the

    qEDGE ERASE key and indicator (p.17)
    Use to erase dark areas from copy edges.
    wMARGIN SHIFT key and indicator (p.18)
    Shifts text or image on the copy to leave a
    binding margin on the left side of the copy.
    eDUAL PAGE COPY key and indicator (p.16)
    Makes individual copies of two originals placed
    side by side on the document glass.
    rEXPOSURE key and indicators (p. 9)
    Press to select the exposure mode: AUTO,
    MANUAL, or PHOTO.
    tCOPY RATIO display
    Displays the copy ratios for reductions or
    enlargements.
    yCHECK STAPLER indicator
    Blinks when the staple cartridge is empty, a
    staple jam has occurred, or the stapler is not
    installed. (Staple sorters are optional.)
    uPaper required indicator (p. 4)
    Lights up when there is no copy paper in the
    selected paper tray.
    iMaintenance required indicator (p. 29)
    Lights up when maintenance is required. Call
    your authorized Sharp Service Center.
    oDeveloper replacement required indicator
    (p. 28)
    When lit, indicates that the developer needs to be
    replaced. Call your authorized Sharp Service
    Center.

    (p. 27)
    The toner collecting container needs to be
    replaced.

    Lights up or blinks when toner is required.

    NOTE:11 x 17 sized copies are counted as
    two copies.
    #0Clear (
    C) key
    Press to clear the copy quantity display, or press
    during a copy run to terminate copying. The
    copier will stop after copies in progress are
    finished.
    #1CLEAR ALL (
    ) key
    Clears all selected settings and returns the
    copier to the initial settings.
    #2START key and indicator
    Copying is possible when the indicator is on.
    Press to start copying.
    #3POWER SAVE indicator (p. 43)
    Lights up when the copier is in the preheat mode.
    Initial settings
    The copier assumes the initial settings when the
    CLEAR ALL (
    ) key is pressed or approximately 1
    minute* after the last copy is made in any mode.
    Except for the paper tray selection, the copier also
    assumes the initial settings when it is turned on.
    lCopy ratio:  100%lAutomatic exposurelCopy quantity:  0lAll special copier modes are set to off.lTray select:  Copier lower tray or an optional 1000-
    sheet paper drawer if installed (At power on, the
    previously selected tray will again be selected.)
    *This time (auto clear time) can be changed. See
    page 34, USER PROGRAMS.
    @0Reduction () key (p. 15)
    Selects one of four preset reduction copy ratios:
    50%, 64%, 77%, or 95%.
    @1Enlargement (
    ) key (p. 15)
    Selects one of four preset enlargement copy
    ratios: 121%, 129%, 141%, or 200%.
    @2100% key (p. 15)
    Press to reset the copy ratio to 100% for same-
    size copies.
    @3ORIGINAL SIZE indicators
    Light up to show the selected original size.
    @4AUTO PAPER SELECT indicator
    Paper of the proper size will automatically be
    selected depending on the original size and
    selected copy ratio when this indicator is on.
    @5PAPER SIZE indicators
    Light up to show the selected copy paper size.
    @6Paper feed location/misfeed location indica-
    tors (p. 22)
    The selected paper feed location is shown by a lit
    indicator (
    ).
    The general location of misfed paper is shown by
    a blinking red indicator (
    ).
    @7TRAY SELECT key
    Press to select the desired paper tray.
    @810-key pad
    Used to set the copy quantity and to make user
    program entries.
    @9Zero/readout key
    Inputs 0 when specifying the copy quantity.
    Press during a continuous copy run to display the
    number of copies completed in the current run.
    Press during standby to display the total number
    of copies made to date.

    USER PROGRAMS
    The user programs allow the parameters of certain functions to be set,
    changed, or cancelled as desired.
    List of user programs
    This copier has the following user programs.
    Program No. Program name Description
    1 Auto clear time Sets the auto clear time. The copier returns to the initial settings
    when the auto clear time elapses after the last copy is made.
    2 Preheat mode Sets the time that elapses before the copier enters the preheat
    mode after any operation is made. See page 43.
    3 Auto power shut-off Sets the time that elapses before the copier enters the auto power
    timer shut-off mode after any operation is made. See page 43.
    4 Auto power save Enables or disables the automatic power save control function.

    5 Stream feeding Enables or disables  the stream feeding mode when an optional
    mode* automatic document feeder is installed. See page 56.
    6 Override sorter bin Cancels limit control of operation in case of bin capacity overflow.

    Setting the user programs

    Press and hold the TRAY SELECT key for more than 5
    seconds until all the alarm indicators* blink and ÒÐ ÐÓ
    appears in the copy quantity display.
    *The alarm indicators are the  , ,, ,  and
    indicators.

    Enter a program number using the 10-key pad.
    lThe selected program number will blink in the copy quantity
    display.
    lIf a mistake is made in steps 2 to 4, press the clear (C) key.
    You will return to step 2.
    lThe program numbers are shown in the table below.
    For example, to change the setting of the auto power shut-off
    timer, press key 3.

    Select the desired parameter using the 10-key pad.
    lThe entered parameter number will blink on the right side of the
    copy quantity display.
    lThe parameters are shown in the table below.
    For example, to change the setting of the auto power shut-off
    timer to Ò30 min.Ó, press key 2.

    lThe right-hand number in the copy quantity display will be
    steadily lit and the entered value will be stored.

    To continue with other user programs, press the C
    key and then repeat steps 2 to 5. To exit the user
    program mode, press the TRAY SELECT key.
    lAll the alarm indicators will go out.

    11 Account number Registers accounts for auditing mode.

    AUDITING PROGRAMS
    The auditing programs are used to set the internal auditor functions.
    Auditor code number
    An auditor code number must be registered before an auditing
    program can be used. The auditing manager must remember this
    number. Only this registered number will allow access to the auditing
    programs. This number is registered as below.
    NOTE:
    If an optional Auditor (SF-EA12) is installed, the internal auditor
    cannot be used. In this case, setting for the auditing programs must
    be selected by using an optional Counter Commander (SF-EA13).
    The operation of the SF-EA12 and SF-EA13 auditing system is
    described in a separate manual.

    Press the clear (C) key, the INTERRUPT key, and the
    clear key again.
    lÒÐ Ð Ó will appear in the copy quantity display and Ò  Ð Ð Ó will
    appear in the copy ratio display.

    Enter the auditor code number using the 10-key pad.
    lWhen registering the auditor code number for the first time,
    enter the number that was set at the factory. (See page 87.)
    lWhen the entry is complete, ÒÐ Ð Ó will appear in the copy quantity
    display again.

    Choose a new 3-digit code number and enter it using the
    10-key pad.

    lThe code number will change from the previous setting to the
    new setting.
    lÒ  Ð Ð Ó will appear again in the copy ratio display.

    To continue with other auditing programs, enter the
    appropriate program code number.
    To exit the auditing programs, press the CLEAR ALL

    Setting for auditing accounts
    Setting for auditing programs varies with the program number. For
    setting of all programs, first follow steps 1 and 2 in ÒAuditing code
    numberÓ on page 37. (Press the clear (
    C) key, the INTERRUPT
    key, and the clear key again. Enter the auditor code number using the
    10-key pad.) Then enter the program number using the 10-key pad
    and press the START key. Follow the appropriate instructions for the
    program.
