[ON] Displays the warning message. [OFF] Hides the warning message. [CLOSED CAPTION SETTING] (for NTSC or 480i YCBCR signal input only) Set closed captions. Selecting the closed caption display 1) Press as to select [CLOSED CAPTION SETTING]. 2) Press the button. f The [CLOSED CAPTION SETTING] screen is displayed. 3) Press as to select [CLOSED CAPTION]. 4) Press qw to switch the item. fThe items will switch each time you press the button. [OFF] Hides closed captions. [ON] Displays closed captions. fWhen [ON] is selected, proceed to Step 5). 5) When the confirmation screen is displayed, press qw to select [OK], and press the button. Setting the closed caption mode 1) Press as to select [CLOSED CAPTION SETTING]. 2) Press the button. f The [CLOSED CAPTION SETTING] screen is displayed. 3) Press as to select [MODE]. fWhen [CLOSED CAPTION] is set to [OFF], [MODE] cannot be selected. 4) Press qw to switch the item. fThe items will switch each time you press the button. [CC1] Displays CC1 data. [CC2] Displays CC2 data. [CC3] Displays CC3 data. [CC4] Displays CC4 data. Note fClosed caption is a function that displays text information of video signals mainly used in North America. Captions may not be displayed depending on the connected devices or contents being played back. f [CLOSED CAPTION SETTING] can be selected only if NTSC or 480i YC BCR signal is input. fIf [CLOSED CAPTION] is set to [ON], brightness of images may change depending on the external devices compatible with closed caption function to be connected or contents to be used. fIf a closed caption signal of the selected mode is input, the security message set in the [SECURITY] menu → [DISPLAY SETTING] (x page 132) is not displayed. f Closed captions are not displayed when the menu screen is displayed.
Chapter 4 Settings — [DISPLAY OPTION] menu ENGLISH - 103 fWhen the correction of [KEYST ONE] is large, edges of characters may be lost. (Only for PT- RW630) [IMAGE ROTATION] Set whether to rotate the input image when projecting. 1) Press as to select [IMAGE ROTATION]. 2) Press qw to select an item. fThe items will switch each time you press the button. [OFF] Projects the input image without rotating. [CLOCKWISE] Rotates the input image by 90° clockwise and project it. [COUNTERCLOCKWISE] Rotates the input image by 90° counterclockwise and project it. Note f[IMAGE ROT ATION] cannot be set during [P IN P]. fThe on-screen display direction does not change even when [IMAGE ROT A TION] is set to other than [OFF]. Set the [DISPLAY OPTION] menu → [ON-SCREEN DISPLAY] → [OSD ROTATION] ( x page 100) as necessary. [BACK COLOR] Set the display of the projected screen when there is no signal input. 1) Press as to select [BACK COLOR]. 2) Press qw to switch the item. fThe items will switch each time you press the button. [BLUE] Displays the entire projection area in blue. [BLACK] Displays the entire projection area in black. [DEFAULT LOGO] Displays the Panasonic logo. [USER LOGO] Displays the image registered by the user. Note fTo create/register the [USER LOGO] image, use “Logo Transfer Software” included in the supplied CD-ROM. [STARTUP LOGO] Set the logo display when the power is turned on. 1) Press as to select [STARTUP LOGO]. 2) Press qw to switch the item. fThe items will switch each time you press the button. [DEFAULT LOGO] Displays the Panasonic logo. [USER LOGO] Displays the image registered by the user. [NONE] Disables the startup logo display. Note fWhen [USER LOGO] is selected, the display of the startup logo will be kept for approximately 15 seconds. fT o create/register the [USER LOGO] image, use “Logo Transfer Software” included in the supplied CD-ROM. [UNIFORMITY] Correct the brightness and color unevenness of the entire screen. Setting by each color 1) Press as to select [UNIFORMITY]. 2) Press the button. f The [UNIFORMITY] screen is displayed. 3) Press as to select [VERTICAL] or [HORIZONTAL].

Setting [PC CORRECTION] To use the [PC CORRECTION] function, the optional Upgrade Kit (Model No.: ET- UK20) is required. To purchase the product, consult your dealer. 1) Press as to select [UNIFORMITY]. 2) Press the button. f The [UNIFORMITY] screen is displayed. 3) Press as to select [PC CORRECTION]. 4) Press qw to switch the item. [OFF] Does not perform correction using computer. [ON] *1Performs correction for the brightness and color unevenness of the entir\ e screen using computer. *1 Advanced skills are necessary to use computer control correction. Consult your dealer . Note fThe [UNIFORMITY] settings are not reset to the factory defaults even when [ALL USER DA TA] is executed from the [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu → [INITIALIZE] ( x page 124). [SHUTTER SETTING] Set image fade-in and fade-out when the shutter function operates. Also, set automatic enabling/disabling of the shutter function (shutter: closed/open) when the power is turned on. Setting [FADE-IN] or [FADE-OUT] 1) Press as to select [SHUTTER SETTING]. 2) Press the button. f The [SHUTTER SETTING] screen is displayed. 3) Press as to select [FADE-IN] or [FADE-OUT]. 4) Press qw to switch the item. Item Adjustment [FADE-IN] [FADE-OUT] [OFF] Does not set fade-in or fade-out. [0.5s] - [10.0s] Allows you to set the fade-in or fade-out time. Select an item from [0.5s] - [4.0s], [5.0s], [7.0s], and [10.0s]. [0.5s] - [4.0s] can be selected in increments of 0.5. Note f Press the button on the remote control or the control panel during fade-in or fade-out to cancel the fade operation. Setting [STARTUP] 1) Press as to select [SHUTTER SETTING].

[OPEN] Starts projection with the shutter function disabled (shutter: open) when the power is turned on. [CLOSE] Starts projection with the shutter function enabled (shutter: closed) when the power is turned on. [FREEZE] Pause the projected image temporarily regardless of the playback of the external device. 1) Press as to select [FREEZE]. 2) Press the button. f Press the button to release. Note f[FREEZE] is displayed on the screen when video is paused. [WAVEFORM MONITOR] Use the input signals from a connected external device to display in a waveform. Check whether video output (luminance) signal level is within the recommended range for the projector and adjust. 1) Press as to select [WAVEFORM MONITOR]. 2) Press qw to switch the item. [OFF] Does not display the waveform monitor. [ON] Displays the waveform monitor. 3) Press the button two times to clear . 4) Press as to select any horizontal line. 5) Press the button to switch the Select line to either luminance, red, green, or blue. f Line selection items switch each time the is pressed only when the waveform monitor is displayed. “Select line (luminance)” Displayed in white waveform. “Select line (red)” Displayed in red waveform. “Select line (green)” Displayed in green waveform. “Select line (blue)” Displayed in blue waveform. Note fSetting is also available by [FUNCTION BUTT ON] (x page 122). fThe waveform monitor cannot be displayed during [P IN P]. fThe waveform monitor turns of f when [P IN P] is executed during waveform monitoring. fThe waveform monitor is not displayed when on-screen display is hidden (of f). Adjusting the waveform Project the luminance adjustment signal of a commercial test disk (0 % (0 IRE or 7.5 IRE) – 100 % (100 IRE)) and adjust. Signal level Image displayable area Image position
Chapter 4 Settings — [DISPLAY OPTION] menu 106 - ENGLISH 1) Select “Select line (luminance)” on the waveform monitor. 2) Adjust black level. f Use [BRIGHTNESS] in the on-screen menu [PICTURE] to adjust the black level 0 % of the video signal to the 0 % position of the waveform monitor. 3) Adjust white level. f Use [CONTRAST] in the on-screen menu [PICTURE] to adjust the white level 100 % of the video signal to the 100 % position of the waveform monitor. Adjusting red, green, and blue 1) Set [COLOR TEMPERA TURE] to [USER1] or [USER2] (x page 73). 2) Select “Select line (red)” on the waveform monitor . 3) Adjust dark red areas. f Use [RED] in [WHITE BALANCE LOW] to adjust the black level 0 % of the video signal to the 0 % position of the waveform monitor. 4) Adjust bright red areas. fUse [RED] in [WHITE BALANCE HIGH] to adjust the white level 100 % of the video signal to the 100 % position of the waveform monitor. 5) Use the procedure for [RED] to adjust [GREEN] and [BLUE]. Note f For DVI - D signal, HDMI signal, SDI signal, and DIGITAL LINK signal, confirm that the [SIGNAL LEVEL] setting is correct before adjusting the black level. (SDI signal is supported only for PT- RZ670). [CUT OFF] Each red, green, and blue color component can be removed. 1) Press as to select [CUT OFF]. 2) Press the button. f The [CUT OFF] screen is displayed. 3) Press as to select [RED], [GREEN], or [BLUE]. 4) Press qw to switch the item. [OFF] Disables cutoff. [ON] Enables cutoff. Note fWhen input is switched or a signal is switched, the cutof f setting returns to its original setting (off).
Chapter 4 Settings — [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu ENGLISH - 107 [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu On the menu screen, select [PROJECTOR SETUP] from the main menu, and select an item from the sub-menu. Refer to “Navigating through the menu” (x page 67) for the operation of the menu screen. fAfter selecting the item, press asqw to set. [PROJECTOR ID] The projector has an ID number setting function that can be used when mu\ ltiple projectors are used side by side to enable simultaneous control or individual control via a single remote control. 1) Press as to select [PROJECTOR ID]. 2) Press qw to switch the item. fThe items will switch each time you press the button. [ALL] Select this item to control projectors without specifying an ID number . [1] - [64] Select this item to control individual projector by specifying an ID number . Note fTo specify an ID number for individual control, the ID number of a remote\ control must match the ID number of the projector. fWhen the ID number is set to [ALL], the projector will operate regardless of the ID number specified during remote control or computer control. If multiple projectors are set up side by side with IDs set to [ALL], they cannot be controlled separately from the projectors with other ID numbers. fRefer to “Setting the remote control ID numbers” ( x page 65) for how to set the ID number on the remote control. [PROJECTION METHOD] Set the projection method in accordance with the installation status of the projector . Change the projection method if the screen display is upside down or inverted. 1) Press as to select [PROJECTION METHOD]. 2) Press the button. f The [PROJECTION METHOD] screen is displayed. 3) Press as to select the projection method. [FRONT/FLOOR] When installing the projector on the desk, etc., in front of the screen [FRONT/CEILING] When installing the projector in front of the screen using the Ceiling Mount Bracket (optional) [REAR/FLOOR] When installing the projector on the desk, etc., behind the screen (with a translucent screen) [REAR/CEILING] When installing the projector behind the screen (with a translucent screen) using the Ceiling Mount Bracket (optional) 4) Press the button. 5) When the confirmation screen is displayed, press qw to select [OK], and press the button. Attention f When the [PROJECTION METHOD] setting is changed, confirm that [COOLING CONDITION] ( x page 108) is set correctly.
Chapter 4 Settings — [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu 108 - ENGLISH [COOLING CONDITION] Change the fan control depending on the direction of projection. Set [COOLING CONDITION] according to the projection direction, but set it to [AUTO] normally. Using the projector with [COOLING CONDITION] set incorrectly may shorten the life of the light source. 15° 15° 15° 15° 30° 30° 30° 30° [VERTICAL UP SETTING] [FLOOR SETTING] [CEILING SETTING] [VERTICAL DOWN SETTING] [PORTRAIT SETTING] Projection direction Frontward: Projection direction [FLOOR SETTING] [CEILING SETTING] 1) Press as to select [COOLING CONDITION]. 2) Press the button. f The [COOLING CONDITION] screen is displayed. 3) Press as to select a cooling condition. fWhen [AUT O] is selected, the cooling conditions of [FLOOR SETTING], [CEILING SETTING], [VER TICAL UP SETTING], [VERTICAL DOWN SETTING], and [PORTRAIT SETTING] are set automatically. You can check the setting from [COOLING CONDITION] on the [STATUS] screen. 4) Press the button. 5) When the confirmation screen is displayed, press qw to select [OK], and press the button. [HIGH ALTITUDE MODE] Set to [OVER 2700m] when using the projector at high altitudes between 2 700 m (8 858') and 4 200 m (13 780') above sea level. 1) Press as to select [HIGH ALTITUDE MODE]. 2) Press qw to switch the item. [UNDER 2700m] When using the projector at a location lower than 2 700 m (8 858') above sea level [OVER 2700m] When using the projector at high altitudes (between 2 700 m (8 858') and 4 200 m (13 780') above sea level) 3) When the confirmation screen is displayed, press qw to select [OK], and press the button. Note f The speed of the fan increases and the operation sound becomes louder when [OVER 2700m] is set. fWhen [OVER 2700m] is set, the items of [ECO], [LONG LIFE1], [LONG LIFE2], and [LONG LIFE3] under the [PROJECT OR SETUP] menu → [OPERATING MODE] cannot be selected. [OPERATION SETTING] Make projector operation settings. When “Initial setting (operation setting)” ( x page 53) in the [INITIAL SETTING] screen has already been set, the settings have been reflected. If you change the settings while using the projector, the duration until the light source luminance decreases by half may sh\ orten or the luminance may decrease.

[NORMAL] Set this item when high luminance is required. The estimated runtime is approximately 20 000 hours. [ECO] Although the luminance is lower than that of [NORMAL], set this item to increase the life of the light source. The estimated runtime is approximately 24 000 hours. [LONG LIFE1] Although the luminance is lower than that of [ECO], set this item to increase the life of the light source. The estimated runtime is approximately 43 000 hours. [LONG LIFE2] Although the luminance is lower than that of [LONG LIFE1], set this item to increase the life of the light source. The estimated runtime is approximately 61 000 hours. [LONG LIFE3] Although the luminance is lower than that of [LONG LIFE2], set this item to increase the life of the light source. The estimated runtime is approximately 87 000 hours. [USER1] Set [MAX LIGHT OUTPUT LEVEL] and [LIGHT OUTPUT] individually. [USER2] [USER3] 5) Press as to select [APPLY]. 6) Press the button. 7) When the confirmation screen is displayed, press qw to select [OK], and press the button. Note f When [OPERA TING MODE] setting is [---], changes to [OPERATING MODE] are restricted. Consult your dealer. fThe [OPERA TING MODE] settings are not reset to the factory defaults even when [ALL USER DATA] is executed from the [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu → [INITIALIZE] ( x page 124). fWhen the [PROJECT OR SETUP] menu → [HIGH ALTITUDE MODE] is set to [OVER 2700m], the items of [ECO], [LONG LIFE1], [LONG LIFE2], and [LONG LIFE3] cannot be selected. Setting [MAX LIGHT OUTPUT LEVEL] Adjusts the maximum level to correct screen brightness according to the changes in brightness of the light source. 1) Press as to select [OPERATION SETTING]. 2) Press the button. fThe [OPERATION SETTING] screen is displayed. 3) Press as to select [MAX LIGHT OUTPUT LEVEL]. 4) Press qw to adjust. Operation AdjustmentRange of adjustment Press w. Increases the maximum level of brightness correction. 10.0 % - 100.0 % Press q. Decreases the maximum level of brightness correction. 5) Press as to select [APPLY]. 6) Press the button. 7) When the confirmation screen is displayed, press qw to select [OK], and press the button. Note f When [OPERA TING MODE] is set to [NORMAL], [ECO], [LONG LIFE1], [LONG LIFE2], or [LONG LIFE3], the item of [MAX LIGHT OUTPUT LEVEL] cannot be adjusted. f When the [PROJECT OR SETUP] menu → [BRIGHTNESS CONTROL] → [BRIGHTNESS CONTROL SETUP] → [CONSTANT MODE] is set to [AUTO] or [PC], that setting is applied for brightness correction.
Chapter 4 Settings — [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu 110 - ENGLISH fThe [MAX LIGHT OUTPUT LEVEL] settings are not reset to the factory defaults even when [ALL USER DATA] is executed from the [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu → [INITIALIZE] ( x page 124). Setting [LIGHT OUTPUT] Adjust the brightness of light source. The [LIGHT OUTPUT] setting is synchronized with the [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu → [LIGHT OUTPUT]. The most recent setting is reflected in both items. 1) Press as to select [OPERATION SETTING]. 2) Press the button. fThe [OPERATION SETTING] screen is displayed. 3) Press as to select [LIGHT OUTPUT]. 4) Press qw to adjust. Operation Adjustment Range of adjustment Brightness Runtime (estimate) Press w. The screen becomes brighter. The runtime becomes shorter. 10.0 % - 100.0 % Press q. The screen becomes darker. The runtime becomes longer. 5) Press as to select [APPLY]. 6) Press the button. 7) When the confirmation screen is displayed, press qw to select [OK], and press the button. Note f [LIGHT OUTPUT] can be adjusted individually for each setting item of [OPERATING MODE]. fIn such a case when configuring multiple screens with multiple projectors, uniformity of brightness between multiple screens can be obtained by adjusting [LIGHT OUTPUT]. Interrelation of luminance and runtime You can use the projector with desired brightness and duration of use by combining the settings of [CONSTANT MODE] in [MAX LIGHT OUTPUT LEVEL], [LIGHT OUTPUT], and [BRIGHTNESS CONTROL SETUP]. Interrelation of luminance and runtime is as follows. Make the settings depending on your desired duration of use and brightness of the projected image.
