    1Insert the CD-ROM that is included with the unit into your CD-ROM drive.
    L[Panasonic Setup] dialogue box will appear.
    2[Tools] i [Windows Firewall Setting]
    LThe [Windows Firewall Setting Tool] window will appear.
    3[Add to the exceptions list] i [OK] i [OK]
    To confirm the security settings (For Windows XP users)
    1.[Start] i [Control Panel] i [Security Center]
    LThe [Windows Security Center] window will appear.
    2.[Windows Firewall]
    LThe [Windows Firewall] dialogue box will appear.
    3.Click the [Exceptions] tab.
    4.Confirm that [Panasonic Trap Monitor Service] and [PCCMFLPD] are displayed and checked on the 
    [Programs and Services] list.
    To confirm the security settings (For Windows Vista users)
    1.[Start] i [Control Panel] i [Security Center]
    LThe [Windows Security Center] window will appear.
    2.[Windows Firewall]
    LThe [Windows Firewall] dialogue box will appear.
    3.[Change Settings]
    LThe [User Access Control] dialogue box will appear.
    4.[Continue]
    5.Click the [Exceptions] tab.
    6.Confirm that [Panasonic Trap Monitor Service], [PCMFSMLM] and [PCCMFLPD] are displayed and checked 
    on the [Program or Port] list.

    12.1 Recording paper jam
    12.1.1 When the recording paper has 
    jammed inside of the unit
    The display will show the following.
    PAPER JAMMED
    b
    OPEN TOP COVER
    CHECK REAR COVER
    Caution:
    LDo not pull out the jammed paper forcibly before 
    opening the top cover.
    LTo prevent injuries, be careful not to put your 
    hands under the top cover.Case 1:
    When the recording paper has jammed near the 
    manual input tray:
    1.Pull open the paper input tray (1).
    2.Open the manual input tray (2) and remove the 
    jammed paper (3) carefully by pulling it upwards. 
    Then close the manual input tray.

    3.Close the paper input tray.
    LOpen and close the top cover (4) to clear the 
    error message.Case 2:
    When the recording paper has jammed near the 
    drum and toner unit:
    1.Pull open the paper input tray (1).
    2.Lift the top cover release lever (2) and open the top 
    cover (3).
    Note:
    LDo not touch the transfer roller (5).
    4
    Caution:
    The fuser unit (4) gets hot. Do not touch 
    it.

    3.Remove the jammed paper (6) carefully by pulling it 
    upwards.
    Remove the jammed paper (7) carefully by pulling it 
    toward you.4.Close the paper input tray.
    5.Close the top cover until locked.

    Case 3:
    When the recording paper has jammed near the 
    fuser unit:
    1.Lift the top cover release lever (1) and open the top 
    cover (2).
    Note:
    LDo not touch the transfer roller (4).
    2.Lift both green levers (5) until they stop.3.Remove the jammed paper (6) carefully by pulling it 
    upwards.
    4.Push back the green levers (7) to the original 
    position.
    5.Close the top cover until locked. Caution:
    The fuser unit (3) gets hot. Do not touch 
    it.

    12.1.2 When the recording paper is not fed 
    into the unit properly
    The display will show the following.
    CHECK PAPER #1
    PRESS START
    1Pull the paper input tray until it clicks into place, then 
    pull it completely out, lifting the front part of the tray. 
    Remove the recording paper and straighten.
    2Re-load the recording paper.
    3Insert the paper input tray to the unit, lifting the front 
    part of the tray. Then push it completely into the unit.
    Note:
    LIf the error message is still displayed, check the 
    recording paper specifications and re-install 
    recording paper. See page 18 for details.
    12.1.3 When the recording paper in the 
    manual input tray is not fed into the unit 
    properly
    The display will show the following.
    CHECK PICK UP
    INPUT TRAY #2
    1Remove the recording paper.
    2Re-insert the recording paper.
    Note:
    LIf the error message is still displayed, check the 
    recording paper specifications and re-install 
    recording paper. See page 32 for details.

    Caution:
    LDo not pull out the jammed document forcibly 
    before lifting the ADF cover.
    1Open the ADF cover (1) while holding the 
    document cover (2).
    2Remove the jammed document (3) carefully.When the document has jammed near the 
    document entrance:

    document exit:
    3Close the ADF cover.

    13 Clean in g Cleaning
    13.1 Cleaning the white plates 
    and glass
    Clean the white plates and glass when a black line, a 
    white line or a dirty pattern appears on:
    – your recording paper,
    – the original document,
    – the scanned data, or
    – the fax document received by the other party (KX-
    MB773/KX-MB783 only).
    Caution:
    LBe careful when handling the drum and toner 
    unit. See the caution for the drum unit on page 13 
    for details.
    LDo not use paper products, such as paper towels 
    or tissues, to clean the inside of the unit.
    13.1.1 White plates and scanner glass
    1
    Open the document cover (1).
    2Hold the document cover (2) while cleaning the 
    white plates (3) and the scanner glass (4).
    3Close the document cover (5).

    13.1.2 Lower glass
    1
    Disconnect the power cord.
    2Lift the top cover release lever (1) and open the top 
    cover (2).
    Note:
    LDo not touch the transfer roller (4).
    3Remove the drum and toner unit (5) by holding the 
    tabs.
    4Clean the lower glass (6) with a soft and dry cloth.
    5Reinstall the drum and toner unit (7) by holding the 
    tabs.
    Caution:
    The fuser unit (3) gets hot. Do not touch 
    it.
