72 Controls and settings fr\pom web screen(continued) Scene [FullAuto, \banual1, \banual2, \banual3] Selected here is the s\ehooting mode that m\eatches the shooting situation\e. Select the mode which\e best suits the prevailing shooting conditions and the \euser’s preferences. Full\buto In this mode, the optimum settings and adjustments for the shooting con\editions at hand are automatica\elly established. When “Full\buto” has been selected, t\ehe detailed setting and\e adjustment menus are not displayed. Manual1 to 3 In these modes, the detailed settin\egs and adjustments are esta\eblished manually to match the prevailing shooting con\editions and the user’s preferences. When the Manual1, Manual2 or Manual3 mode has been selected\e, the detailed setting and adjustm\eent menu for the mode concerned is displayed. Contrast Contrast \bode [Auto, \banual] This item is used t\eo select whether the \eimage brightness (contrast) is to be contr\eolled automatically o\er manually. \buto The iris, shutter speed and \eframe addition are controlled and t\ehe camera brightness is adjusted automatica\elly. Manual Operations are performed using the manually set values. Contrast Level [–5 to +5] Set here is the cont\erast level when the image brightness is adjusted. This item can be set\e when “\buto” has been selected as\e the “Contrast Mode” setting. Shutter \bode [Off, Step, S\fnchro] Select for camera shutter speed. This item can be set\e when “Manual” has been selected as\e the “Contrast Mode” setting. When a higher shutt\eer speed is selected, \efast-moving subjects do not bec\eome blurred easily but the images will be darker. Off The shutter is set t\eo OFF (so that it \ecannot be tripped). Step The step shutter is \eset (the steps can b\ee changed). Synchro The synchro shutter\e is set (the setting\e can be changed continuously). The shutter speeds th\eat can be set are li\ested below. [When 59.94 Hz has been set as\p the unit’s frequenc\f] When “Step” is selected as the “Shutter \bode” When “S\fnchro” is selected as the “Shutter \bode” 1/100, 1/250, 1/50\e0, 1/1000, 1/2000, 1/4000, 1/\e10000 60.24 Hz to max. 646.21 Hz (255 steps) [When 50 Hz has been set as\p the unit’s frequenc\f] When “Step” is selected as the “Shutter \bode”When “S\fnchro” is selected as the “Shutter \bode” 1/120, 1/250, 1/50\e0, 1/1000, 1/2000, 1/4000, 1/\e10000 50.20 Hz to max. 538.51 Hz (255 steps) Frame \bix [Auto, Off, 6dB, 12dB, 18dB] Select for frame addition (gain-\eup using sensor sto\erage) amount. This item can be set\e when “Off ” is selected as the “Shutter Mode” item setting. When frame addition is perf\eormed, it will appear a\es if the images are missing \esome frames. AutoF. \bix \bax Gain [0dB, 6dB, 12dB, 18dB] When “\buto” for the “Contrast Mode” or “\buto” for the “Frame Mix” is selected, the max\eimum frame addition amount can be set. If frame addition is perf\eormed at the \buto setting, it wil\el appear as if the ima\eges are missing som\ee frames. Gain [Auto, 0dB, 3dB, 6dB, 9dB, 12dB, 15dB, 18dB] The image gain is a\edjusted here. In locations which \eare too dark, adjust the gain u\epward; conversely, in locations whic\eh are too bright, adjust it downward. When “\buto” is set, the light q\euantity is adjusted\e automatically. The noise increases \ewhen the gain is in\ecreased. AGC \bax Gain [6dB, 12dB, 18dB] When “\buto” is selected as the “Gain” setting, the maximum gain-up amount c\ean be set.
73 Controls and settings fr\pom web screen(continued) Picture Chroma Level [–3 to +3] Set here is the color\e intensity (chroma \elevel) of the images. AWB This is used to execute automatic whi\ete balance (\bWB) to set the white balanc\ee. For details, refer to page 23. AWB \bode [ATW, AWB A, AWB B] The white balance mo\ede is selected here. Select the mode when \ethe coloring is not natural because of the nature of th\ee light source or ot\eher factors. If the white color s\eerving as the reference can be recognized, subjects can be \eshot with natural coloring. \bTW In this mode, the white balance \eis compensated for automatically, even if changes occur in th\ee light source or co\elor temperature, by a process of cont\einuous and automatic adjustmen\et. \bWB \b, \bWB B When \bWB \b or \bWB B is selected and th\ee white balance is executed, the adjustme\ent results obtained are\e stored in the memor\ey selected. When \bWB \b or \bWB B is then selected, t\ehe white balance stored\e in the selected memo\ery can be recalled. p When preset settings \ehave been called from th\ee \bW -RP655, the \bWB mode which was set when the preset data was registered by the \bW -RP655 will be called. Note R Gain, B Gain [–30 to +30] When “\bWB \b” or “\bWB B” is selected as the \b\eWB Mode setting, the white b\ealance can be finely \eadjusted after automatic white bal\eance (\bWB) has been performed. p When automatic whit\ee balance (\bWB) is executed, the R Gain and B Gain values are returned to “0”. p When “\bWB \b” or “\bWB B” is selected as the \b\eWB Mode setting, the R Gain and B Gain adjustment values can be stored \ein the two memories, \b and B. p When new values are set, the pr\eevious values are erased. Use each of the memo\eries for a different purpose in accordance with the\e shooting conditio\ens. p In terms of registering values in the preset memories, the R Gain and B Gain settings (–30 \eto +30) are not stored\e, but the white balance\e (color) status after adjust\ements have been made using th\ee R Gain and B Gain items can be s\etored. p If settings in the \epreset memories are recalled when “Mode \b” has been selected as\e the Preset Scope setting, the R\e Gain and B Gain settings are returned to “0”. p When “\bTW” has been selected as\e the \bWB Mode setting, the R Gain and B Gain cannot be adju\ested. Notes Detail [Off, Low, High] The image detail (im\eage sharpness) is adjusted h\eere. When “Low” or “High” is selected, the det\eail is enhanced. Flesh Tone \bode [Off, Low, High] Set here is the flesh\e tone mode for displaying the subjects’ skin so that it appea\ers more smoothly an\ed eye-pleasingly. When “Low” or “High” is selected, the eff\eect is enhanced. DNR [Off, Low, High] Set here is the level of the digital no\eise reduction effect so that light, noise-f\eree and clear images \ewill be output even at night and in ot\eher low-brightness environments. When “Low” or “High” is selected, noise c\ean be eliminated. However, there is an increa\esed possibility that\e afterimages may occur. Pedestal [–10 to +10\p] This item is used t\eo adjust the black level (adjust the pedestal) so that th\ee dark parts of the images ar\ee easier to see. These parts become darker when a negative setting is selected and, conversely, lighter when a pos\eitive setting is selected. DRS [Off, Low, High] Set here is the DRS \efunction which provides just the right amount of compensat\eion when images wit\eh significant light/dark differences are displayed. When “Low” or “High” is selected, the eff\eect is enhanced even more. This may make noise more perceptib\ele with some scenes. Gamma T\fpe [Off, Normal, Cinema] Selected here is the t\eype of gamma curve. The selected setting \etakes effect when “Off ” is selected as the “DRS” item setting. Normally, the “Normal” setting is used. When “Cinema” is selected, images \egiving off an atmosphere like movies can be shot. Gamma Level [Low, \bid, High] This item is used to adjust the gamma compensation level. The item’s setting takes effect when “Off ” has been selected as the “DRS” setting and “Normal” as the “Gamma Type” setting. When “Low” is set, the images \eappear sedate and composed. The resulting gamma \ecurve has a gentle gradient in the low-brightness areas, and the contrast is sharper. Conversely, when “High” is set, the tonal r\eange in the dark area is expanded so that the \eimages take on a lighter tone. The resulting gamma \ecurve has a sharp gradient in the low-brightness areas, and the contrast is softer.
74 Controls and settings fr\pom web screen(continued) Back Light CO\bP. [Off, On] “On” or “Off ” is set here for the backlight compensation function. Under backlight conditions, the function prevents darkening as a result of\e light striking the backs of subjects, and makes it possible to shoot images in shade or shadow more brightly. The function takes effect when “\buto” has been selected as the Contrast Mode, Gain or Frame Mix item setting\e. Da\f/Night [Da\f, Night] This is used to select normal shooting or low light shooting (by exposing the subjects\e to infrared rays).
