    							15. Connecting to external devices

    You can connect the unit and computer with a microUSB cable (commercially 
    available) to connect your computer to the internet via the uni t.
    1Connected the unit to a computer with a microUSB cable (commerc ially 
    available).
    2From the Home screen  > [ ] >  [ ] >  [More...].
    3[Tethering & portable hotspot]  > turn the [USB tethering] checkbox on.≥[ ] is displayed in the status bar when USB tethering is enabled.
    [ ] is displayed when a portable Wi-Fi access point is configured .

    ≥After using USB tethering, tur n of f the [USB tethering] checkbox.
    ≥ You cannot access data within the unit fr om a computer while using USB tethering.
    ≥ To connect your computer to the internet using USB tethering, s ee the late st information at  https://www.android.com/tether .

    Turn registered print services on/off or configure them.
    This allows printing from anywhere when combined with a cloud-comp
     atible printer.≥Printing services are not regis tered at t he point of purchase.

    2Select registered print service  > turn on/off.

    2Turn the [Back up my data] checkbox on.
    Reset
    Reset the unit to factory default settings.≥Resetting deletes all saved data, downloaded apps and other con tent .

    Screen lock
    Configure the screen lock when recovering from sleep mode or ot her actions.
    Configuring the screen lock prevents unauthorized access to the  uni t.
    1From the Home screen > [ ] >  [ ] >  [Security]  >  [Screen lock].
    2Select the screen unlock method.
    3Save an unlock pattern following the screen prompts.
    1From the Home screen  > [ ] >  [ ] >  [Security]  >  [Screen lock].
    2Unlock the screen using the configured method.
    3Select the unlock method.

    Configuring the screen lock
    [None] Does not set the screen lock.
    [Slide] Release the screen lock by sliding [
    ] to the guide (white line on 
    the outer circumference).
    [Face Unlock] Release the screen lock using facial recognition.
    [Pattern] Release the screen lock by connecting 4 or more points.
    [PIN] Release the screen lock by entering a 4 to 16 digit number.
    [Password] Release the screen lock by entering a 4 to 16 alphanumeric 
    character
    
     password.
    ≥ Attempting to unlock the screen lock 5  times will disable operations for 30  seconds.
    ≥ Emergency calls can be made even when the screen is locked, by  tappi
     ng [EMERGENCY CALL].

    SIM card lock
    The microSIM card can be locked to prevent unauthorized access to the unit.
    Once the SIM card is locked, the SIM PIN code must be entered e very 
     time the unit is 
    turned on.
    ≥ Incorrectly entering the SIM PIN code 3  times locks the SIM PIN code and it can no longer be used.
    If this happens, enter a PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) to unloc k the SIM  PIN code.
    ≥ For details on the PIN code/PUK code, contact your mobile netwo rk op erator.
    1From the Home screen > [ ] >  [ ] >  [Security]  >  [Set up SIM/RUIM card 
    lock].
    2Turn the [Lock SIM card] checkbox on.
    3Enter SIM PIN code  > [OK].
    ≥The SIM PIN code can only be changed only when the microSIM car d is  locked.
    1From the Home screen > [ ] >  [ ] >  [Security]  >  [Set up SIM/RUIM card 
    lock].
    2Tap [Change SIM PIN].
    3Enter the current SIM PIN code  > [OK].
    4Enter the new SIM PIN code  > [OK].
    5Enter the new SIM PIN code again  > [OK].

    18.Updates
    System updates
    If the software needs to be updated, update files can be obtained to update the unit.≥The unit must be connected to a network when you perform a syst em upda te. (Except when using [Update from 
    microSD])
    ≥ Perform system update in an area with good reception without mo vin
     g around.
    ≥ Perform system update with sufficient battery strength remainin g.
    ≥ During system update, telephone calls, messages, various commun ic
     ation functions and other functions cannot be 
    used.
    ≥ Update files cannot be obtained during international roaming, o r wh
     en outside the sphere of communications.
    ≥ System update may take a while.
    ≥ Do not turn off the unit during system update. System update may fa
     il.
    ≥ During system update, information specific to this unit (e.g. m od el, manufacturing number etc.) will be sent to the 
    system update server of Panasonic.
    Panasonic will not use the information sent for purposes other  than system
      update.
    ≥ The unit will restart after a system update.
    If a PIN code has been set, this has to be entered in the PIN c ode i
     nput screen displayed during start-up.
    ≥ Some of the settings may be initialized when a system update is  perfo rmed. In this case, configure the settings one 
    more time.
    ≥ You cannot return to the previous version if a system update is  perfo
     rmed.
    ≥ System update can be carried out with data such as the contact list, pictures, m ails, download data, etc. that is 
    registered in the unit remaining intact. However, data protecti on may not be possible depending on the condition of the 
    customer’s terminal (malfunctions, damages, water ingress, etc.). We recommend that you take a backup copy of 
    necessary data.
    However, please note that there is s
     ome data such as download data etc. for which backup copies cannot be taken.
    ≥ If system update fails, the unit may not start up and all funct io ns indicated as [Software update failed.] may be 
    disabled. Contact the dealer or Panasonic in this case.
    [ ] is displayed on the notification panel if system update is required.
    1Open the notifications panel  > tap the notification.
    2Follow the guidance on the screen.

    Check whether or not software updates are required, and if so, download the update 
    file over the network.

    Download the update files using a computer and save them to a m icroSD
      card, then 
    insert the microSD card into the unit to update the software.
    ≥ Save the update file in the “Download” folder of the microSD ca rd.
