Combining pictures with different exposures ([HDR])
You can combine 3 pictures with different levels of exposure into a single picture with
rich gradation. You can minimize the loss of gradations in brig ht areas and dark areas
when, for example, the contrast between the background and the subject is large.
An image combined by HDR is recorded in JPEG.
    [ON] Records HDR pictures.
[OFF] Does not record HDR pictures.
What Is HDR?HDR stands for High Dynamic Range and refers to a technique for expressing a wide contrast range.
≥ Do not move the unit during the continuous shooting after press in
     g the shutter button.
≥ You cannot take the next picture until the combination of pictu res i s complete.
≥ If jitter occurs, or if you record a moving subject, an unnatural effect similar to an afterimage may appear on the
    recorded picture.
    ≥ Flash is fixed to [Œ ].
≥ [HDR] does not work for the pictures taken during a motion pict ure recor
     ding.
≥ [HDR] is not available in the following case.

    Applicable modes:
    From the Recording screen > [ ] > [Rec] > [Shutter Type].
Setting the Shutter Type ([Shutter Type])
There are two types of shutters, a mechanical shutter and an el ectronic shutter.
Pictures can be taken with a fixed mechanical shutter or with t he shutter system
    selected automatically.
    [AUTO]
    ([Auto]) [MSHTR]
    ([Mechanical Shutter])
Function Depending on the recording condition and
    the shutt

er speed, the shutter type is
    switched automatically.
≥ With less functional constraints, the use
    of the m

    echanical shutter system is
    preferred.
≥ When the shutter speed is faster than
    1/2000, pictures are recorded in
    electr

    shutter method.

    Mechanical shu
tter The unit starts an exposure elec
tronical ly, and ends it with the mechanical shutter.
    Electronic Sh
utter The unit starts and ends an exposure electronically.
≥ When burst rate is set to [SH], pictures will be taken with the electronic shu
     tter.
≥ When a moving subject is recorded with the electronic shutter, the subject may appear distorted on the
    picture.
≥ When the electronic shutter is used under fluorescent or LED li gh
     ting, etc., horizontal stripes may
appear on the picture. In such cases, lowering the shutter speed may reduce the effect of the horizontal
    stripes. (P59)

The Red-Eye Removal function works when the flash is activated to automatically
detect red eyes and correct the image data.
≥ Under certain circumstances, red-eye cannot be corrected.
Setting the upper limit on ISO sensitivity ([ISO Limit Set])
It will select optimal ISO sensitivity with set value as limit depending on the
    brightness of the subject.

Setting the color space ([Color Space])
Set this when you want to correct the color reproduction of the recorded pictures on a
    PC, printer etc.
[sRGB] Color space is set to sRGB color space.
This is widely used in computer related equipment.
[AdobeRGB] Color space is set to AdobeRGB color space.
AdobeRGB is mainly used for business purposes such as professio
    nal
     printing because it
has a greater range of reproducible colors than sRGB.
≥ Set to sRGB if you are not very familiar with AdobeRGB.

AF assist lamp will illuminate the subject when the shutter but ton is pressed halfway,
making it easier for the unit to focus when recording in low li ght conditions.
(Larger AF area is displayed depending on the recording conditi ons.)
    ≥
The effective distance of the assist lamp is a maximum of appro ximately 1.5 m (4.9 feet).
≥ The AF Assist Lamp is valid only for the subject in the center of the scree n. Use it by positioning the subject in
    the center of the screen.
≥ When you do not want to use the AF Assist Lamp (e.g. when takin g pictu
