•Depending on the recording conditions and the ty pe of card, the number of recordable pictures
    and available recording time vary.
•When the motion picture size is set to [FHD], [HD] or [VGA] in [MP4], you can continuously
record a motion picture up to 29 minutes 59 seconds or until the file size reaches 4 GB. You
can check the recordable time on the screen.
–Since the file size becomes larger with [FHD], recording with [FHD] will stop before
    29 minutes 59 seconds.
•You can continuously record a motion picture with its size set to [4K] in [MP4] without a pause
even if the motion picture exceeds 4 GB. However, the recorded content has to be played back
    as multiple files.
•Though a [MP4 (LPCM)]/[MOV] motion picture can be recorded continuously without a pause
even when its file size exceeds 4 GB, the reco rded content is played back with multiple files.
•The maximum available continuous recording time is displayed on the screen.

    Troubleshooting
First, try out the following procedures (P393 –P409) .
    •
The battery is exhausted. > Charge the battery.
•If you leave the camera on, the battery will be exhausted.
    > Turn the camera off frequently by using the [Economy] etc. (P59)
•Is the linked operation of VIERA Link enabled?
    > If you are not using VIERA Link, set [VIERA Link] to [OFF]. (P66)
•Insert the battery securely all the way in. (P32)
•Is a Wi-Fi connection being used for a long period of time?
The battery can become flat quickly when connected to Wi-Fi.
    > Turn the camera off frequently by using the [Economy] etc. (P59)
    •Is the subject focused?
    >[Focus/Release Priority] is set to [FOCUS] at the time of purchase, and so you cannot take
pictures until the subject is in focus. (P307)
If the problem is not resolved, it may be improved by selecting [Reset] (P67) on the
    [Setup] menu.
    Battery and power source
The camera cannot be operated even when it is turned on.

•Picture might look whitish when lens or image sensor gets dirty with fingerprints or similar.
    > If the lens is dirty turn the camera off and then gently wipe the lens surface with a soft, dry
    cloth.
    > Refer to P411 when the image sensor gets dirty.
•Check that the exposure is correctly compensated. (P157)•Is the AE Lock (P159) applied incorrectly?
    •Cancel the following settings:–Burst/Auto Bracket/[ ] of the self-timer (P112)
    –White Balance Bracket (P139)
•The subject is beyond the focus range of the camera. (P40)
•There is camera shake (jitter) or the subject is moving slightly. (P51)•Is [Focus/Release Priority] in the [Custom] menu set to [RELEASE]? (P307)•Is [Shutter AF] in the [Custom] menu set to [OFF]? (P305)
•Is the AF Lock (P159) applied incorrectly?
    The recorded picture is whitish.
The recorded picture is too bright or dark.
Multiple pictures are taken at one time.
The subject is not focused properly.

•The shutter speed will become slower and the Optical Image Stabilizer function may not work
properly when taking pictures especially in dark places.
    > We recommend holding the camera firmly with both hands when taking pictures. (P38)
    > We recommend using a tripod and the self-timer (P118) when taking pictures with a slow
    shutter speed.
•Is there any memory remaining on the card?
•Try the following: > Take pictures in bright places.
    > Decrease the ISO sensitivity. (P132)
    > Increase the setting for [Noise Reduction] in [Photo Style] or lower the setting for each of
the items other than [Noise Reduction]. (P140)
    > Set the [Long Shtr NR] to [ON]. (P146)
•Is the [Picture Size] (P129) or the [Quality] (P130) set low?•Is the [Digital Zoom] set? (P165)
•Stripes may appear in high ISO sensitivity or depending on the lens you use.
    > Decrease the ISO sensitivity. (P132)
    The recorded picture is blurred.
The Optical Image Stabilizer is not effective.
Taking pictures using White Balance Bracket is not possible.
    The recorded picture looks rough.
    Noise appears on the picture.
Striping or flicker may appear under lighting such as fluorescent lighting and
    LED lighting fixture.
    •
This is characteristic of MOS sensors which serve as the camera’s
    pickup sensors.
    This is not a malfunction.
•Is [Electronic Shutter] set to [ON]? (P171)
    > If you set [Electronic Shutter] to [ON] and slow down the shutter
speed, the stripes may appear less intense.
Stripes appear in high ISO sensitivity.
[When the interchangeable lens (H-H020) is used]

•When recording under fluorescent or LED lighting fixture, etc., increasing the shutter speed
may introduce slight changes to brightness and color. These are a result of the characteristics
of the light source and do not indicate a malfunction.
•When recording subjects in extremely bright lo cations or recording under fluorescent lighting,
LED lighting fixture, mercury lamp, sodium lighting, etc., the colors and screen brightness may
change or horizontal striping may appear on the screen.
•There may be defective pixels in the image sensor. > Perform [Pixel Refresh] (P68).
•Set the AF area to the distinctive color of the subject if there is a part that is different from the
    surrounding color. (P98)

•Is your finger covering up the speaker? (P19)
•If you continue to use the same card after changing [System Frequency] (P220), motion
pictures may not be recorded. To record with the same card, reset [System Frequency] to the
original setting. To record motion pictures with the current setting, try the following:
–Perform formatting (P68) on this unit after saving necessary data on a PC, etc.–Insert a different card.•You may not be able to record for a short while after turning this unit on when using a large
    capacity card.
The brightness or the hue of the recorded picture is different from the actual
    scene.
Bright spot not in subject is recorded.
    Subject cannot be locked.
    (AF tracking not possible)
    Operation sound is small.
    Motion pictures
Recording motion pictures is not possible.

•Depending on the [Rec Format] and [Rec Quality] of a motion picture, the speed class rating
required for the card differs. Use a card that meets the rating. For details, refer to
    “About the
motion picture recording and speed class” on P22 .•When a card with a slow data writing speed is used, motion picture recording may stop midway.
    >If a card on which recording and deleting have been repeated many times or a card that has
been formatted on a PC or other equipment is being used, we recommend that you make a
backup of the data and format (P68) the card on the unit.
•When recording a motion picture, the screen may go dark after a certain period to reduce
battery consumption, but this will not affect the recorded motion picture.
•Depending on the environment at the time of motion picture recording, the screen may be
blacked out momentarily or the unit may record noise due to static electricity or powerful
electromagnetic waves (radio towers, high voltage power lines, etc.).
•This is characteristic of MOS sensors which serve as the camera’s pickup sensors.
    This is not a malfunction.
When a subject moves across the image very fast, the subject may appear slightly distorted.
•If flickering or horizontal stripes become noti ceable under lighting such as fluorescent lights or
LED lights, you can reduce them by manually setting the shutter speed to [1/60] or [1/100] in
Creative Video Mode (P202). If you use [Synchro Scan] (P218), you can adjust the reduction
    setting in even finer increments.
•With recording in a quiet environment, depending on the lenses used, the sound of aperture
and focus actions may be recorded in motion pictures.
Focus operation can be set to [OFF] in [Continuous AF] (P199).
•Use of [Silent Operation] is recommended if you are concerned about operational sounds.
    (P204)
•While recording motion pictures, plugging the aperture of the microphone with a finger may
reduce the level of audio recording or audio may not record at all. Also be careful because the
operation sound of lenses can easily be recorded at this time.
Motion picture recording stops in the middle.
When recording a motion picture, the screen may go dark.
The screen may be blacked out momentarily, or the unit may record noise.
Striping or flicker appears under lighting such as a fluorescent or LED lighting
    fixture.
    The subject appears distorted.
In motion pictures, abnormal clicking and buzzing sounds are recorded.
The recorded sound is very quiet.

Since motion picture recording stops only after you press the motion picture button, the
sound of the operation may be noticeable. If the sound bothers you, try the following:
    > Divide the last part of the motion picture using [Video Divide] (P242) in the [Playback]
    menu.
The motion picture may not be divided near the very end of it. To avoid this, record
    approximately 3 seconds longer.
    > Set the camera to Creative Video Mode, and use a shutter remote control (optional) to
    record motion pictures. (P353)
•Depending on the lens used, picture may be warp ed slightly or you may see colors along the
edge depending on the zoom factor, due to the char acteristics of the lens. Also, the peripherals
of the image might look warped because the perspective is enhanced when the wide angle is
used. This is not a malfunction.
    •Is the flash closed?
    > Open the flash. (P180)
•When the electronic shutter is used, the flash is not activated. (P171)
    > Set [Electronic Shutter] to [OFF].
•When [Silent Mode] is set to [ON] , the flash is not activated. (P170)
    > Set [Silent Mode] to [OFF].
•(Except for when [Firing Mode] in [Flash] is set to [MANUAL]) The flash is activated 2 times.
The interval between the first and second flash is longer when Red-Eye Reduction (P183) is
set so the subject should not move until the second flash is activated.
An operation sound is recorded at the end of a motion picture.
    Lens
Recorded image may be warped, or nonexistent color is surrounding the
    subject.
