    11 . Customizing the Camera’s Settings
    Registering your preferred settings (Custom Mode)
    You can register the current camera settings as custom settings.
    If you then record in Custom Mode,  you can use the registered settings.
    •
    Initial setting of the Program AE Mode is registered as the custom settings initially.
    To allow recording using the same settings, up to 5 sets of current camera settings can be 
    registered using [Cust.Set Mem.]. (

    [MENU/SET].
    •Confirmation screen is displayed. It is executed when [Yes] is selected. 
    Exit the menu after it is executed.
    •The following menu items are not registered as custom settings.

    Preparations: Set in advance the Record ing Mode you wish to save and select the 
    desired menu settings on the camera.

    You can easily call up the settings y ou have registered using [Cust.Set Mem.].
    Set the mode dial to [ ], [ ] or [ ]
    •The custom set will be called up. If you set the mo de dial to [ ], the custom set you used last 
    time ([ ], [ ], or [ ]) will be called up.
    ∫ To change a custom set in [ ]
    1Set the mode dial to [ ].
    2Press [MENU/SET] to display the menu.
    3Press  2/1 to select the custom setting you want to use, and then 
    press [MENU/SET].
    •Saving of the selected custom settings is displayed on 
    the screen.
    ∫ Changing the settings
    Registered contents do not change when the menu setting is changed temporarily with the 
    mode dial set to  ,   or  . To change the registered settings, overwrite the 
    registered content using [Cust.Set Mem.] on the custom settings menu.

    Enjoying Motion Pictures in 4K
    ∫ Playing Back on a TV Screen
    By connecting the camera to a TV that supports motion pictures in 
    4K and playing back motion pictures recorded with their size set to 
    [4K] or [C4K] in [Rec Quality],  you can enjoy finely-detailed motion 
    pictures in 4K. Even though the output resolution will be lower, you 
    can also play them back by connecting the ca mera to a TV that does not support motion 
    pictures in 4K.
    •
    To play back motion pictures recorded with [System Frequency] set to [59.94 Hz (NTSC)] and 
    the recording frame rate set to 24p in [Rec Quality], set [HDMI Mode (Play)] to [AUTO].
    For settings other than [AUTO], it cannot output at 24 frames/second.
    Connect the camera and a 4K-compatible TV with an HDMI micro cable, 
    and display the playback screen.  (P325)
    •When [VIERA Link] is set to [ON] and the camera is connected to a TV supporting VIERA Link, 
    input of the TV will be switched automatically  and playback screen will be displayed. Refer to 
    P327  for details.
    •When [System Frequency] is set to a broadcasting system different from that of your region, 
    images may not be played back correctly.
    •When you have motion pictures recorded with [Rec Format] set to 
    [MP4] and their size set to [4K] in [Rec Quality], you can also play 
    them back by inserting the card into the SD card slot of a TV that 
    supports motion pictures in 4K.
    •Read the operating instructions for the TV.
    ∫Watching on a PC
    To play back motion pictures recorded with their size set to [4K] or [C4K] in 
    [Rec Quality] on a PC, use the software “ PHOTOfunSTUDIO ” on the DVD 
    (supplied).
    •
    To play back and edit motion pictures in 4K, you need a high-performance PC 
    environment.
    •Refer to the operating instructions of “ PHOTOfunSTUDIO ” (PDF).
    Watching motion pictures in 4K
    Preparation: If the size is [4K], set [HDMI Mode (Play)]  (P65) to [AUTO] or [4K]. 
    If the size is [C4K], set [HDMI Mode (Play)]  (P65) to [AUTO] or [C4K].

    ∫Storing on a PC
    You can acquire recorded pictures to a  PC by connecting the camera and the PC.
    Refer to  P329 for details.
    ∫ Storing on a DVD or CD
    You cannot dub motion pictures recorded with their size set to [4K] or [C4K] in [Rec 
    Quality] to Blu-ray discs and DVDs with Panasonic recorders. (As of March 2014)
    With the “ PHOTOfunSTUDIO ” software on the DVD (supplied), you can convert 4K motion 
    pictures into smaller sized motion pictures  or copy 4K motion pictures to a DVD or CD.

    Playing Back Pictures on a TV Screen
    Pictures recorded with this unit can be played back on a TV screen.
    •
    Confirm the terminals on your TV and use a cable compatible with the terminals.
    Image quality may vary with the connected terminals.
    1Connect the camera and a TV.
    •Check the direction of the terminals and plug in/out straight holding onto the plug.
    (It may result in malfunction by the deforming of the terminal if it is plugged in obliquely 
    or in wrong direction.)
    Do not connect devices to incorrect terminals. Doing so may cause malfunction.
    Preparations: Turn this unit and the TV off.

    Check the [HDMI Mode (Play)].  (P65)

    connected to a VIERA Link compatible TV using an HDMI micro cable with the [VIERA 
    Link] set to [ON].  (P327)
    •When [System Frequency] is set to a broadcasting system different from that of your region, 
    images may not be played back correctly.
    •Depending on the [Aspect Ratio], black bands may be displayed on the top and bottom or the 
    left and right of the pictures.
    •Change the screen mode on your TV if the picture is displayed with the top or bottom cut off.•Output from the HDMI micro cable has priority  when both AV cable (optional) and HDMI micro 
    cable are connected.
    •The connection with the USB connection cable (supplied) will take priority when you connect 
    the USB connection cable (supplied) simultaneously with the HDMI micro cable.
    •When you play back a picture vertically, it may be blurry.•Proper playback will be dependent on the TV used for viewing.•You can view pictures on TVs in other countries (regions) which use the NTSC or PAL system 
    when you set [System Frequency] in the [Setup] menu.
    •No sound is output from the camera speakers.•Read the operating instructions for the TV.
    To connect with an AV cable (optional)
    •
    Always use a genuine Panasonic AV cable (DMW-AVC1: optional).•Check the [TV Aspect]. (P65)
    •Audio will be played back in monaural.•The viewfinder cannot be displayed when connected with a AV cable.•When [System Frequency] is set to [24.00 Hz (CINEMA)], you cannot play back images on a 
    TV connected with an AV cable.

    1Connect this unit to a Panasonic TV compatible with VIERA Link with 
    an HDMI micro cable  (P325).
    2Turn the camera on and then press [ (].
    3Operate with the remote control for the TV.
    •Operate with reference to the operation icons displayed on the screen.
    •To play back the sound of a film during a slide show, set [Sound] to [AUTO] or [Audio] on the 
    Slide Show setting screen.
    •It is recommended to connect this unit to an HDMI terminal other than the HDMI1 if there are 2 
    or more HDMI input terminals on the TV.
    •Operation using the buttons on this unit will be limited.
    The recorded pictures can be played back on a TV with an SD Memory Card 
    slot
    •
    Depending on the TV model, pictures may not be displayed on the full screen.•The file format of the motion pictures that can be played back differs depending on the TV 
    model.
    •For cards compatible with playback, refer to the operating instructions of the TV.
    Using VIERA Link (HDMI)
    What is the VIERA Link (HDMI) (HDAVI Control™)?
    •This function allows you to use your remote control for the Panasonic TV for easy 
    operations when this unit has been connected to a VIERA Link compatible device using a 
    HDMI micro cable for automatic linked operations.
    (Not all operations are possible.)
    •VIERA Link is a unique Panasonic function built on a HDMI control function using the 
    standard HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) specification.
    Linked operations with HDMI CEC compatible devices made by other companies are not 
    guaranteed. When using devices made by other companies that are compatible with 
    VIERA Link, refer to the operating instructions for the respective devices.
    •This unit supports “VIERA Link Ver.5” function. “VIERA Link Ver.5” is the standard for 
    Panasonic’s VIERA Link compatible equipment. This standard is compatible with 
    Panasonic’s conventional VIERA Link equipment.

    ∫Other linked operations
    Turning this unit off:
    If you use the remote control for the TV to turn the TV off, this unit is also turned off.
    Automatic input switching:
    •
    If you connect with an HDMI micro cable and then turn this unit on, and then press [ (], the 
    input channel on the TV automatically switches to this unit’s screen. If the TV’s power is in 
    standby status, it will turn on automatically (if [Set] has been selected for the TV’s [Power on 
    link] setting).
    •Depending on your TV’s HDMI connection, on some TV’s it may be necessary to manually 
    select the HDMI connection you are using. In this case, use the remote control for the TV to 
    switch the input channel.
    (For details on how to switch input, please read the operating instructions for the TV.)
    •If VIERA Link does not work properly, refer to  P407.
    •If you are unsure whether or not the TV you are using is compatible with VIERA Link, read the 
    operating instructions for the TV.
    •Available linked operations between this unit an d a Panasonic TV are different depending on 
    the types of Panasonic TVs even if they are compatible with VIERA Link. Refer to the operating 
    instructions of the TV for the operations are supported on the TV.
    •Be sure to use a cable that is HDMI certified.•[HDMI Mode (Play)] for this unit is determined automatically when the VIERA Link is operating.
    •Use a “High Speed HDMI micro cable” with the HDMI logo.
    Cables that do not comply with the HDMI standards will not work.

    Saving still pictures and motion pictures on 
    your PC
    You can acquire recorded pictures to a  PC by connecting the camera and the PC.
    •Some PCs can read directly from the card removed from the camera. For details, refer to the 
    operating instructions of your PC.
    •If the computer being used does not support SDXC Memory Cards, a message 
    prompting you to format may appear.
    (Doing so will cause recorded images to be erased so do not choose to format.)

    The unit can be connected to any PC cap able of recognizing a mass storage device.
    •
    Windows support: Windows XP/Windo ws Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8/
    Windows 8.1
    •Mac support: OS X v10.5 to v10.9
    AVCHD motion pictures may not be imported correctly when copied as files or 
    folder
    •
    With Windows, always import AVCHD motion pictures using “ PHOTOfunSTUDIO ”, one of the 
    programs on the DVD (supplied).
    •With a Mac, AVCHD motion pictures can be imported using “iMovie”.
    Please note that importing is not possible depending on the picture quality.

    The supplied DVD includes the following software.
    Install the software on to your computer before use.
    •
    PHOTOfunSTUDIO 9.5 PE (Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8/
    Windows 8.1)
    This software allows you to manage images. For example, you can send pictures and motion 
    pictures to a PC and sort them by recording date or model name. You can also perform 
    operations such as writing images to a DVD, processing and correcting images, and editing 
    motion pictures.
    •SILKYPIX Developer Studio 4.1 SE
    (Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 8.1, Mac OS X v10.5/
    v10.6/v10.7/v10.8/v10.9)
    This is software to edit RAW format images.
    Edited images can be saved in a format (JPEG, TIFF, etc.) that can be displayed on a personal 
    computer.
    •LoiLoScope 30 day full trial version (Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8/
    Windows 8.1)
    LoiLoScope is a video editing software where that draws out the full power of your PC. Creating 
    videos is as easy as organizing cards on top of a desk. Use your music, picture and video files 
    to create videos to share with your friends and family by burning it to a DVD, uploading it to 
    websites, or simply share your videos with your friends via e-mail.
    –This will only install a shortcut to the trial version download site.
