    Preparation
    •You can select the background color from four colors.
    •If you set a different language by mistake, select [~] from the menu icons to set the desired 
    language.
    •This enables the firmware versions of the camera and lens to be checked.•[–. –] is displayed as the lens firmware when the lens is not mounted.
    •Press [MENU/SET] on the version display screen to display information about the software on 
    the unit.
    •The folder number is updated and the file number starts from 0001.•A folder number between 100 and 999 can be assigned.
    The folder number should be reset before it reaches 999. We recommend formatting the card 
    (P52)  after saving the data on a PC or elsewhere.
    •To reset the folder number to 100, format the card first and then use this function to reset the 
    file number.
    A reset screen for the folder number will then appear. Select [Yes] to reset the folder number.
    •When the recording setting is reset, the content of the following settings is also reset.–The [Face Recog.] setting–The [Profile Setup] setting
    •When [Setup]/[Custom] menu settings are reset, the following settings are also reset.–The [World Time] setting–The settings of [Travel Date] (departure date, return date, location)
    •The folder number and the clock setting are not changed.
    [Menu Resume]Stores the location of the last-used menu item for each menu.
    [ON]/[OFF]
    [Menu Background]Set the background color for the menu screen.
    [Menu Information]
    Explanations of the menu items and settings are displayed on the 
    menu screen.
    [ON]/[OFF]
    [Language]Set the language displayed on the screen.
    [Version Disp.] —
    [No.Reset]Reset the file number of the next recording to 0001.
    [Reset]The [Rec] or [Setup]/[Custom] menu settings are reset to the

    Preparation
    •Always reset the camera when disposing or selling it to prevent personal information saved 
    within the camera from being misused.
    •Always reset the camera after making a copy of personal information when sending the camera 
    in to be repaired.

    •Imaging device and image processing is optimized when the camera is purchased. Use this 
    function when bright spots that do not exist in the subject get recorded.
    •Turn the camera off and on after the pixels are corrected.
    •Dust Reduction Function will operate automatically when the camera is turned on, but you can 
    use this function when you see dust.  (P302)
    •Use a battery with sufficient battery power or the AC adaptor (optional) when formatting. Do not 
    turn the camera off during formatting.
    •If the card has been formatted on a PC or other equipment, format it on the camera again.
    •If the card cannot be formatted, consult Panasonic.
    [Reset Wi-Fi Settings]Reset all settings in the [Wi-Fi] menu to factory default settings.¢
    [Pixel Refresh]It will perform optimisation of imaging device and image 
    processing.
    [Sensor Cleaning]Dust reduction to blow off the debris and dust that have affixed to 
    the front of the imaging device is performed.
    [Format]
    The card is formatted.
    Formatting permanently deletes all data on your memory 
    card. Please be sure all pictures and motion pictures are 
    saved elsewhere before using this feature.

    Setting your preferred operation methods 
    ([Custom] Menu)
    For details on how to select the [Custom] menu settings, refer to P37.

    [Cust.Set Mem.][ ]/[ ]/[ ]/[ ]/[ ]
    [AF/AE Lock][AE LOCK]/[AF LOCK]/[AF/AE LOCK]/[AF-ON]
    [AF/AE Lock Hold]
    This will set the operation of [AF/AE LOCK] button when taking a 
    picture with fixed focus or exposure.
    [ON]:The focus and the exposure remain fixed even if you 
    release [AF/AE LOCK] after pressing it.
    If you press [AF/AE LOCK] again, AF/AE Lock is 
    canceled.
    [OFF]: The focus and the exposure are fixed only while you 
    are pressing [AF/AE LOCK].  (P151)
    If you release [AF/AE LOCK], AF/AE Lock is canceled.
    [Shutter AF]
    Set whether or not the focus is  adjusted automatically when the 
    shutter button is pressed halfway.
    [ON]/[OFF]
    [Half Press Release]
    The shutter will immediately fire when the shutter button is 
    pressed halfway.
    [ON]/[OFF]

    Preparation
    •The battery will be consumed faster than usual.•Press the shutter button halfway again when it is difficult to focus on the subject.•The [Quick AF] feature is disabled in the following conditions:
    –In Preview Mode–In low light situations–With lenses that only offer Manual Focus
    –With some Four Third lenses that do not support contrast AF

    [AFS/AFF]
    The [AFS/AFF] of the focus mode lever  (P142) can be used for 
    either [AFS] or [AFF].
    [AFS]/[AFF]
    [Quick AF]
    As long as the camera is held steady, the camera will 
    automatically adjust the focus and focus adjustment will then be 
    quicker when the shutter is press ed. This is useful when you do 
    not want to miss a picture-taking opportunity.
    [ON]/[OFF]
    [Eye Sensor AF][ON]/[OFF]
    [Pinpoint AF Time]
    Sets the time for which the screen is enlarged when the shutter 
    button is pressed halfway with Auto Focus Mode set to [ ].
    [LONG] (Approx. 1.5 seconds) /[MID] (Approx. 1.0 seconds) /
    [SHORT] (Approx. 0.5 seconds)

    Preparation
    •The effective range of the AF Assist Lamp is different depending on the lens used.
    –When the interchangeable lens (H-HS12035) is attached and at Wide:
    Approx. 1.0 m (3.3 feet) to 3.5 m (11.0 feet)
    –When the interchangeable lens (H-VS014140) is attached and at Wide:
    Approx. 1.0 m (3.3 feet) to 3.0 m (9.8 feet)
    •The AF Assist Lamp is valid only for the subject in the center of the screen. Use it by 
    positioning the subject in the center of the screen.
    •Remove the lens hood.•When you do not want to use the AF Assist Lamp (e.g. when taking pictures of animals in dark 
    places), set the [AF Assist Lamp] to [OFF]. In this case, it will become more difficult to focus on 
    the subject.
    •The AF Assist Lamp gets slightly blocked when the interchangeable lens (H-HS12035, 
    H-VS014140) is used, but it does not affect the performance.
    •The AF Assist Lamp may be greatly blocked, and it may become harder to focus when a lens 
    with large diameter is used.
    •The setting for the [AF Assist Lamp] is fixed to [OFF] in the following cases.
    –[Distinct Scenery]/[Bright Blue Sky]/[Romantic  Sunset Glow]/[Vivid Sunset Glow]/[Glistening 
    Water]/[Clear Nightscape]/[Cool Night Sky]/[Warm Glowing Nightscape]/[Artistic Nightscape] 
    (Scene Guide Mode)
    •Refer to P147,  149 for details.
    •When set to [RELEASE], please be aware that focus may not be achieved even with [Focus 
    Mode] set to [AFS], [AFF] or [AFC].
    •[Focus/Release Priority] is disabled during motion picture recording.
    [AF Assist Lamp]
    AF assist lamp will illuminate the subject when the shutter button 
    is pressed halfway, making it easier for the camera to focus when 
    recording in low light conditions. (Larger AF area is displayed 
    depending on the recording conditions.)
    [ON]/[OFF]
    [Direct Focus Area][ON]/[OFF]
    [Focus/Release 
    Priority]
    It will set so no picture can be taken when it is out of focus.
    [FOCUS]:You cannot take a picture until the subject is brought 
    into focus.
    [RELEASE]:This gives priority to the best time to take a picture so 
    you can take a picture when the shutter button is 
    pressed fully.

    •If you enlarge an image by pressing [ ], the enlargement is maintained until you press [ ] 
    again.

    [AF+MF]
    It is possible to adjust focus manually after it was adjusted 
    automatically.
    [ON]:When AF Lock is ON (press the shutter button halfway 
    with the [Focus Mode] set to [AFS] or set AF Lock 
    using [AF/AE Lock]), you can make fine adjustments 
    to the focus manually.
    [OFF]
     [MF Assist]
    Sets the display method of MF Assist (enlarged screen).

    Enlarge by rotating the lens focus ring/lever, or by pressing [ ].

    Preparation
    •When the recorded picture and the histogram do not match each other under the 
    following conditions, the histogram is displayed in orange.
    –When the Manual Exposure Assistance is other than [n0] during Exposure Compensation or 
    in the Manual Exposure Mode
    –When the flash is activated–When suitable exposure is not achieved with the flash closed–When the brightness of the screen is not correctly displayed in dark places
    •The histogram is an approximation in the Recording Mode.•The histogram displayed in this camera does not match histograms displayed by picture editing 
    software used in PCs etc.
    •When you align the subject on the horizontal and vertical guidelines or the cross point of these 
    lines, you can take pictures with well-designed composition by viewing the size, the slope and 
    the balance of the subject.
    [Histogram]
    This allows you to set either to display or not display the 
    histogram.
    [ON]:
    You can set the position by pressing  3/
    4/ 2/1 .
    •
    Direct touch operation is also possible from 
    the recording screen.
    [OFF]
    A histogram is a graph that displays brightness 
    along the horizontal axis (black to white) and the 
    number of pixels at each brightness level on the 
    vertical axis.
    It allows you to easily  check a picture’s exposure.

    [Guide Line]
    This will set the pattern of guide lines displayed when taking a 
    picture.

    You can set the position by pressing

    You can also set the position directly by 
    touching [ ] on the guideline of the 
    recording screen.

    •If you set [Expo.Meter] to [ON], [Expo.Meter] is displayed when 
    operating Program Shift, the aperture setting and the shutter speed.
    •Unsuitable areas of the range are displayed in red.•When [Expo.Meter] is not displayed, switch the display information 
    for screen by pressing [DISP.].  (P72)
    •The [Expo.Meter] disappears after approximately 4 seconds if no operation is performed.
    •Refer to P73 for details.
    •Refer to P72 for details.
    [Highlight]
    When the Auto Review function is activated or when playing back, 
    white saturated areas appear blinking in black and white.
    This does not affect the recorded image.
    [ON]/[OFF]
    •
    If there are any white saturated areas, we recommend 
    compensating the exposure towards negative  (P133) 
    referring to the histogram  (P57) and then taking the 
    picture again. It may result in a better quality picture.
    •This does not work while in Multi Playback, Calendar 
    Playback, or Playback Zoom.
    [ON] [OFF]
    [Constant Preview][OFF]/[ON]
    [Expo.Meter]Set whether or not to display the exposure meter.
    [ON]/[OFF]
    [LVF Disp.Style]
    This will set the display style of the viewfinder.

    enlarge the image by rotating the rear dial while the reviewing.
    •[Auto Review] does not work when recording motion pictures.

    [Fn Button Set] —
    [Q.MENU]
    Switch the setting method of Quick Menu.
    [PRESET]:
    The Quick Menu will consist of the preset items.

    [Dial Set.]
    Changes the operation methods of the front dial and rear dial.

    [Assign Dial (F/SS)]:
    Assigns the operations of the aperture value and shutter speed in 
    Manual Exposure Mode. [F SS]:
    Assigns the aperture value to the front dial, and the shutter 
    speed to the rear dial.
    [SS F]:
    Assigns the shutter speed to the front dial, and the aperture 
    value to the rear dial.
    [Rotation (F/SS)]:
    Changes the rotation direction of the dials for adjusting the 
    aperture value and shutter speed. []/[]
    [Exposure Comp.]:
    Assigns the Exposure Compensation to the front dial or rear dial 
    so that you can directly adjust it. [ ] (Front Dial)/[ ] (Rear Dial)/[OFF]
    [Video Button]Enables/disables the motion picture button.
