    ∫Controllable range of the wireless flash
    Place the wireless flash with its wireless sensor facing toward the camera. Estimated 
    controllable range is shown in the following figure. Controllable range differs depending on 
    the surrounding environment.
    •
    The recommended number of wireless flashes for each group is three or less.
    •If the subject is too close to the camera, signal flashing may affect the exposure. (The effect 
    can be reduced by lowering the output of the built-in flash with a diffuser, etc.)

    Compensating the Exposure
    Applicable modes: 
    Use this function when you cannot achieve appropriate exposure due to the difference in 
    brightness between the subject and the background.
    1Press [ ].
    2Rotate the rear dial to compensate the exposure.

    •You can switch the functions between the rear dial and the 
    front dial by pressing [DISP.].
    •The Exposure Compensation value can be set within a range 
    of j5 EV to i 5 EV. When recording motion pictures, the Exposure Compensation 
    value can be set within a range of  j3 EV to i 3EV.
    •Select [n0] to return to the original exposure.
    3Rotate the front dial to adjust the flash output.
    •Only available when [Auto Exposure Comp.]  (P128) in [Flash] in the [Rec] menu is set 
    to [ON], and [Firing Mode]  (P129) in [Flash] is set to [TTL] or [WIRELESS].
    •Flash brightness can also be adjusted using [Flash Adjust.] in [Flash] in the [Rec] Menu.

    •When [Auto Exposure Comp.] in [Flash] in the [Rec] menu is set to [ON], the brightness of the 
    built-in flash will automatically be set to the level appropriate to the selected Exposure

    •When the exposure value is out of the  j3EV to  i3 EV range, the brightness of the recording 
    screen will no longer change. It is recommended to record by checking the actual brightness of 
    the recorded image in the Auto Review or playback screen.
    •The set exposure value is memorized even if the camera is turned off.•The compensation range of the exposure will be limited depending on the brightness of the 
    subject.

    Setting the Light Sensitivity
    Applicable modes: 
    This allows the sensitivity to light (ISO sensitivity) to be set. Setting to a higher figure 
    enables pictures to be taken even in dark plac es without the resulting pictures coming out 
    dark.
    1Press [ ].
    2Rotate the rear dial to select the ISO sensitivity.

    •You can switch the functions between the rear dial and the 
    front dial by pressing [DISP.].
    3Rotate the front dial to set the upper limit of ISO 
    sensitivity.
    •It will work when the [Sensitivity] is set to [AUTO] or [ ].

    •You can also set by pressing the shutter button halfway.

    When [ISO Limit Set] is set to [400], [800], [1600], [3200], [6400] or [12800], the camera 
    optimizes the ISO sensitivity according to the brightness of the subject within the range not 
    exceeding the selected upper limit.
    ¢ 2 Only available when [Extended ISO] is set.
    •For the focus range of flash when [AUTO] is set, refer to  P123.•When [Electronic Shutter] is set to [ON], the lSO sensitivity can be set up to [ISO 1600].

    Adjusting the White Balance
    Applicable modes: 
    In sunlight, under incandescent lights or in other such conditions where the color of white 
    takes on a reddish or bluish tinge, this item adjusts to the color of white which is closest to 
    what is seen by the eye in ac cordance with the light source.
    1Press [ ].
    2Rotate the rear dial or front dial to select the 
    White Balance.
    •Setting can also be performed by rotating the control dial.
    3Press 4, and then press  2/1 or  3/4 to make 
    fine adjustments to the White Balance.
    •You can also make fine adjustments by touching the White Balance graph.•To reset, press [DISP.].

    ∫ Auto White Balance
    Depending on the conditions prevailing when pictur es are taken, the pictures may take on 
    a reddish or bluish tinge. Furthermore, when a multiple number of light sources are being 
    used or there is nothing with a color close to white, Auto White Balance may not function 
    properly. In a case like this, set the White Balance to a mode other than [AWB].
    1 Auto White Balance will work within this range.

    ∫Finely adjusting the White Balance
    You can finely adjust the White Balance when you cannot acquire the desired hue by 
    setting the White Balance.
    •
    If you finely adjust the White Balance to [A] (amber), the White Balance icon on the screen will 
    change to orange. If you finely adjust the White Balance to [B] (blue), the White Balance icon 
    on the screen will change to blue.
    •If you finely adjust the White Balance to [G] (green) or [M] (magenta), [ _] (green) or [ `] 
    (magenta) appears beside the White Balance icon on the screen.
    •The White Balance fine adjustment setting is reflected in the picture when using the flash.
    •You can finely adjust the White Balance independently for each White Balance item.•The White Balance fine adjustment setting is memorized even if the camera is turned off.•The White Balance fine adjustment level returns to the standard setting (center point) in the 
    following cases.
    –When you reset the White Balance in [ ], [ ], [ ] or [ ]–When you reset the color temperature manually in [ ]
    •Under fluorescent lighting, LED lighting fixture etc., the appropriate White Balance will vary 
    depending on the lighting type, so use [AWB] or [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ].
    •The White Balance is only calculated for subjects within the range of the camera’s flash.  (P123)•The set White Balance is maintained even after this unit is turned off, but when the White 
    Balance is changed in a different Scene Guide Mode, [White Balance] for the Scene Guide 
    Mode that was set will return to [AWB].
    •In the Scene Guide Modes listed below, White Balance is fixed to [AWB].
    –[Backlit Softness]/[Relaxing Tone]/[Distinct Scenery]/[Bright Blue Sky]/[Romantic Sunset 
    Glow]/[Vivid Sunset Glow]/[Glistening Water]/[Clear Nightscape]/[Cool Night Sky]/[Warm

    Bracket setting is performed based on the adjustment values for the White Balance fine 
    adjustment, and 3 pictures with different co lors are automatically recorded when the 
    shutter button is pressed once.
    1Press [ ].
    2Rotate the rear dial or front dial to select the White 
    Balance, and then press  4.
    3Rotate the control dial to set the bracket.
    Rotating the control dial to the right: Horizontal ([A] to [B])
    Rotating the control dial to the left: Vertical ([G] to [M])
    •
    You can also set the bracket by touching [ ]/[ ].
    •To reset, press [DISP.].
    4Press [MENU/SET].
    •
    [ ] is displayed in White Balance icon in the screen when the White Balance Bracket is set.•The White Balance Bracket setting is released when this unit has been turned off (including 
    Sleep Mode).
    •You will only hear the shutter sound once.•The White Balance Bracket does not work in the following cases:
    –When recording motion pictures–When [Quality] is set to [ ], [ ] or [ ]–When [HDR] is set to [ON]
    –[Multi Exp.]–When using [Time Lapse Shot]

    Set the White Balance value. Use to match the condition when taking photographs.
    1Press [ ].
    2Rotate the rear dial or front dial to select [ ], [ ], [ ], or  [ ], and then 
    press 3.
    3Aim the camera at a sheet of white paper etc. so that the 
    frame in the center is filled by the white object only and 
    then press [MENU/SET].
    •
    White Balance may not be set when the subject is too bright or too dark. Set the White Balance 
    again after adjusting to appropriate brightness.
    You can set the color temperature manually for  taking natural pictures in different lighting 
    conditions. The color of light is measured as  a number in degrees Kelvin. As the color 
    temperature increases, the picture becomes  more bluish. As the color temperature 
    decreases, the picture  becomes more reddish.
    1Press [ ].
    2Rotate the rear or front dial to select [ ], and then press 3.
    3Press 3/4 to select the color temperature and then press 
    [MENU/SET].
    •
    You can set a color temperature from [2500K] to [10000K].
