Loading Envelopes
1Open Tray 1.
2Slide the media guides to pro-
vide more space between them.
3Press down on the center of the 
paper-lifting plate until the left 
and right locking tabs (white) 
lock into place.

4Load the envelopes flap side up 
in the tray. 
Before loading enve-
lopes, press them down 
to make sure that all air is 
removed, and make sure 
that the folds of the flaps 
are firmly pressed; other-
wise the envelopes may 
become wrinkled or a 
media misfeed may 
occur.
Up to 10 envelopes can be loaded into the tray at one time.
For envelopes with the 
flap along the long edge 
(Envelope C6, Envelope 
Monarch, and Envelope 
DL), load the envelopes 
with the flap side up.

6Select PAPER SETUP/TRAY1 PAPER in the UTILITY menu, and 
then select the settings for the size and type of media that is loaded. See 
also “Specifications” on page 66.
