Cannot insert an ink cartridge
1.Check that you have the correct type of cartridge (model number).
2. Check that the colored label on the cartridge 
is the same color as the label on the slot.
3. Check that the cartridge is corre
ctly oriented, the arrow on the front of the ink cartridge should
face upwards.
CAUTION: Never clean inside the ink cartridge slots.

Cleaning all of the printheads takes about 5 minutes. Cleaning any two printheads takes about 3
minutes.
NOTE: Cleaning all printheads  uses more ink than cleaning a single pair.
NOTE:HP recommends that you purge the ink from the pr intheads before printing a job if the printer
has been turned off for more than  six weeks or if you are experiencing inconsistent colors from print to
print after long storage periods. Purging the ink fr om the printheads helps to ensure maximum color
consistency; it is not...

3.Remove and reinsert all of the printheads. See Remove a printhead on page 63
 and Insert a
printhead on page 66. This starts the printhead alignment process.
NOTE: Make sure the printer window is  closed during printhead alignment.
4.The process takes about 10 minutes. Wait until th
e front panel shows that the process is complete
before using the printer.

shows if there were any errors in the process.

Scan errors during alignment
If the alignment process fails, a Scanning problems message appears on the front panel. This
indicates that the alignment was not completed succ essfully. Therefore, the printheads are not aligned
and the alignment should be repeated before prin ting. The problem might be because of one of the
following scenarios:
● The type of paper used in the printhead align
ment process was not acceptable. Repeat the
alignment process using one of the recommended paper types.

The printer is not printing
Possible reasons why a file you have sent from your computer is not printing when expected, include
the following:
● A problem with the electrical powe
r might exist. If the printer is not performing and the front panel
does not respond, check that the  power cable is correctly connected  and that the electrical socket
is functioning.
● An unusual electromagnetic phenom
ena may exist, such as strong electromagnetic fields or severe
electrical disturbances. Such occurrences can...

●Is your printer connected to a network? Check th
at all components used in the network (network
interface cards, hubs, routers, switches, and cables ) are capable of high-speed operation. Is there
a lot of traffic from other devices on the network?
● Did you set the drying time to  Extended? Try changing the drying time to  Automatic. See
