uuOperating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel uAuto High-Beam System* 160 Controls Turn the headlight switch in AUTO and pull the headlight lever to low beam. 2 Light Switches P. 155 The auto high-beam system indicator comes on. ■Temporary cancellation The auto high-beam system operatio n is temporarily canceled while: • You are continuously driving at a speed below 15 mph (24 km/h). • The vehicle speed is below 6 mph (10 km/h). • The windshield wipers run at high speed for more than a few seconds. The system operation resumes once the condit ion that caused it to cancel improves. ■To Operate the System1To Operate the System For the auto high-beam system to work properly: •Do not place an object that reflects light on the dashboard. •Keep the windshield around the camera clean. When cleaning the windshield, be careful not to apply the windshield cleanser to the camera lens. •Do not attach an object, sticker or film in the area around the camera. •Do not touch the camera lens. If the camera receives a st rong impact, or repairing of the area near the camera is required, consult a dealer. To help reduce the likel ihood that high interior temperatures will cause the camera system to shut off, when parking, find a sh ady area or face the front of the vehicle away from the sun. If you use a reflective sun shade, do not allow it to cover the camera housing. Covering the camera can concentrate heat on the camera. 161 uuOperating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel uAuto High-Beam System* Controls ■To manually cancel th e system temporarily You can cancel the operation when you ma nually change the headlights to high beams. Push the lever forward until you hear a click, or lightly pull the lever towards you to flash high beams. The auto hi gh-beam system indicator goes off. If you want the auto high-beam system operation to resume at once, pull the lever towards you. Disable the system when the vehicle is parked with the power mode in ON and the light switch is in the AUTO position. To disable the system: Pull the light switch lever towards you and hold it for 40 seconds. The auto high-beam indica tor in the meter will blink twice. To enable the system: Pull the light switch lever towards you and hold it for 30 seconds. The auto high-beam indica tor in the meter will blink once. ■To Disable the System 1 To Operate the System If the Can Not Operate: message appears: Park your vehicle in a safe place. Wipe away debris blocking the windshield, then start driving again. 163 uuOperating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel uWipers and Washers Continued Controls Wipers and Washers The windshield wipers and washers can be used when the power mode is in ON. ■MIST The wipers run at high speed until you release the lever. ■Wiper switch (OFF, INT*, AUTO*, LO, HI) Change the wiper switch setting according to the amount of rain. ■AUTO* 2 Automatic Intermittent Wipers* P. 164 ■Adjusting wiper operation Turn the adjustment ring to adjust wiper operation. ■Washer Sprays while you pull the lever toward you. When you release the le ver for more than one second, the spray stops, the wipers sweep two or three more times to clear the windshield, then stop. ■Windshield Wipers/Washers1 Wipers and Washers NOTICE Do not use the wipers when the windshield is dry. The windshield will get sc ratched, or the rubber blades will get damaged. NOTICE In cold weather, the blades may freeze to the windshield, becoming stuck. Operating the wipers in th is condition may damage the wipers. Use the defroster to warm the windshield, then turn the wipers on. If the vehicle speeds up while the wipers are operating intermittently, the length of the wipe interval shortens. When the vehicle starts moving, the wipers make a single sweep. When the vehicle speeds up, the wiper operation’s shortest delay setting ( ) and the LO setting become the same. Turn the washers off if no washer fluid comes out. The pump may get damaged. The wiper motor may stop motor operation temporarily to prevent an overload. Wiper operation will return to normal within a few minutes, once the circuit has returned to normal. uuOperating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel uWipers and Washers 164 Controls When you push the lever down to AUTO, the windshield wipers sweep once, and go into the automatic mode. The wipers operate intermittently, at low speed, or at high speed and stops in accordance with the am ount of rainfall the rainfall sensor detects. ■Auto sensitivity adjustment When in AUTO, you can also adjust the rainfall sensor sensitivity using the intermittent time adjustment ring. Sensor sensitivity ■Automatic Intermittent Wipers*1 Automatic Intermittent Wipers* The rainfall sensor is in the location shown below. NOTICE Always ensure the wiper lever is in the OFF position before entering a car wash to prevent severe damage to the windshiel d wiper system. If the wiper lever is in AUTO , and the power mode is in ON, the rainfall sensor may respond to your hand or car wash liquids, and the wipers may operate automatically. 165 uuOperating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel uWipers and Washers Controls The rear wiper and washer can be used when the power mode is in ON. ■Wiper switch (OFF, INT, ON) Change the wiper switch setting according to the amount of rain. ■Washer ( ) Sprays while you rotate the switch to this position. Hold it to activate th e wiper and to spray the washer. Once released, it stops operating after a few more sweeps. ■Operating in reverse When you select the transmission to (R with the front wiper activated, the rear wiper operates automati cally as follows even if its switch is off. ■Rear Wiper/Washer1Wipers and Washers If the wiper stops operating due to any obstacle such as the build-up of snow, pa rk the vehicle in a safe place. Rotate the wipe r switch to OFF, and set the power mode to ACCESSORY or VEHICLE OFF (LOCK), then remove the obstacle. 166 uuOperating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel uBrightness Control Controls Brightness Control When the power mode is in ON, you can use the (+ or (- button to adjust instrument panel brightness. To brighten: Press the (+ button. To dim: Press the (- button. You will hear a beep when the brightness reaches minimum or maximum. The MID will return to its original state several seconds after you adjust the brightness. ■Brightness level indicator The brightness level is shown on the MID while you are adjusting it. 1 Brightness Control Instrument panel brightne ss varies, depending on whether the exterior lights are on or off. The instrument panel dims to reduce glare when they are on. When it is bright out side and the headlight integration with the wi per is activated, the instrument panel bri ghtness does not change. If you press the ( + button until the brightness display is up to max, the beeper sounds. This cancels the reduced instrument panel brightness when the parking lights are on. Press the rear defogger and heated door mirror button * to defog the rear window and mirrors when the power mode is in ON. The rear defogger and heated door mirrors * automatically switch of f after 10-30 minutes depending on the outside temperature. ■Heated Windshield Button Canadian models1 Defogger/Heated Door Mirror* This system consumes a lot of power, so turn it off when the window has been defogged or deiced. 1Heated Windshield Button This system activates automatically if the temperate is below 4°C, then deactiva tes after 15 minutes. When you unlock and open the driver’s door with a remote transmitter, or smart entry system, the seat and door mirrors adju st automatically to one of the two preset positions. The MID shows you which remote transmitter you used to unlock the vehicle when you enter. • DRIVER 1 transmitter is linked to memory button 1. • DRIVER 2 transmitter is linked to memory button 2.
