150 Controls Panoramic Glass Roof* You can only operate the sunshade switches when the power mode is in ON. Use the switch in the front of the ceiling to open and close the sunshade. ■Automatic operation To open: Pull the switch back firmly, then release. The sunshade will automatically open all the way. To stop the sunshade midway, push the switch briefly. ■Manual operation To open: Pull the switch back, and hold it until the desired position is reached. To close: Push the switch forward, and hold it until the desired position is reached. ■Opening/Closing the Sunshade1 Opening/Closing the Sunshade The sunshade can be opened or closed to adjust the amount of light that enters the cabin. 3WARNING Opening or closing the sunshade on someone’s hands or fingers can cause serious injury. 151Continued Controls Operating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel ENGINE START/STOP Button *1:Canadian models ■Changing the Power Mode1ENGINE START/STOP Button ENGINE START/STOP Button Operating Range You can start the engine when the smart entry remote is inside the vehicle. The engine may also run if the smart entry remote is close to the door or window, ev en if it is outside the vehicle. ON mode: The ENGINE START/STOP button is red when the power mode is set to ON. If the smart entry remote battery is weak, beeper sounds and the To Start, Hold Remote Near Start Button message appears on the MID. 2 If the Smart Entry Remote Battery is Weak P. 618 If the power mode does not change from VEHICLE OFF to ACCESSORY, press the ENGINE START/STOP button while moving the st eering wheel left and right. The steering wheel will unlock, allowing the mode to change. Operating Range Canadian models VEHICLE OFF (LOCK) The button is off. The steering wheel is locked *1. 152 uuOperating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel uENGINE START/STOP Button Controls If you leave the vehicle for 30 to 60 minutes with the transmission in (P and the power mode in ACCESSORY, the vehicle automa tically goes into the mode similar to VEHICLE OFF (LOCK) to avoid the battery drain. When in this mode: The steering wheel does not lock. You cannot lock or unlock doors with th e remote transmitter or the smart entry system. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button to switch the mode to VEHICLE OFF (LOCK). 153 uuOperating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel uENGINE START/STOP Button Controls Warning beepers may sound from inside or/ and outside the vehicle to remind you that the smart entry remote is out of the vehicle. If the beeper continues even after the remote is put back inside, place it within its operational range. ■When the power mode is in ON If the smart entry remote is taken out of the vehicle, and the driver’s door is closed, warning beepers sound from both inside and outside the vehicle. A warning message on the MID notifies the driver inside that the remote is outside of the vehicle. ■When the power mode is in ACCESSORY If the smart entry remote is taken out of the vehicle, and the driver’s door is closed, a warning beeper sounds from outside the vehicle. ■Smart Entry Remote Reminder1 Smart Entry Remote Reminder When the smart entry remote is within the system’s operational range, and the driv er’s door is closed, the warning function cancels. If the smart entry remote is taken out of the vehicle after the engine has been started, you can no longer change the ENGINE START/STOP button mode or restart the engine. Always make sure if the remote is in your vehicle when you operate the ENGINE START/STOP button. Removing the smart entry remote from the vehicle through a window does not activate the warning beeper. Do not put the smart entr y remote on the dashboard or in the glove box. It ma y cause the warning beeper to go off. 155 uuOperating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel uLight Switches Continued Controls Light Switches Rotating the light switch turns the lights on and off, regardless of the power mode setting. ■High beams Push the lever forward until you hear a click. ■Low beams When in high beams, pull the lever back to return to low beams. ■Flashing the high beams Pull the lever back, and release it. ■Lights off Turn the lever to OFF either when: • The transmission is in (P. • The parking brake is applied. ■Manual Operation1Light Switches If you leave the power mode in VEHICLE OFF (LOCK) with the lights on, a light on reminder chime sounds when you open the driver’s door. If you sense that the le vel of the headlights is abnormal, have your vehicle inspected by a dealer. Do not leave the lights on when the engine is off because it will cause the battery to discharge. Your vehicle is equipped with the automatic headlight adjusting system that automatically adjusts the vertical angle of the high/low beam headlights. If you find a significant change in the vertical angle of the headlights, there may be a problem with the system. Have your vehicle checked by a dealer. 157 uuOperating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel uLight Switches Controls The headlights automatically come on when the wipers are used several times within a certain number of intervals with the headlight switch in AUTO. The headlights automatically go off a few minutes later if the wipers are stopped. The headlights, all other exterior lights, a nd the instrument panel lights turn off 15 seconds after you set the po wer mode to VEHICLE OFF (LOCK), take the remote with you, and close the driver’s door. If you set the power mode to VEHICLE OFF (LOCK) with the headlight switch on, but do not open the door, the lights turn off after 10 minutes (three minutes, if the switch is in the AUTO position). The lights turn on again when you unlock or open the driver’s door. If you unlock the door, but do not open it within 15 seconds, the lights go off. If you open the driver’s door, you will hear a lights on reminder chime. ■Headlight Integration with Wiper ■Automatic Lighting Off Feature 1 Automatic Lighting Control Adjust the auto light sensitivity as follows: SettingThe exterior lights come on when the ambient light is at Max High Mid Low Min Bright Dark 1 Headlight Integration with Wiper This feature activates during the headlights are off in AUTO . 159 uuOperating the Switches Around the Steering Wheel uAuto High-Beam System* Continued Controls Auto High-Beam System* Uses the camera attached, monitors th e space ahead of your vehicle, and automatically changes the low beam head lights to high beam headlights when necessary.1 Auto High-Beam System* The auto high-beam system determines when to change the headlight beams by responding to the brightness of the lights ahead of your vehicle. In the following cases, the system may not respond to the lights properly: •The brightness of the lights from the preceding or oncoming vehicle is intense or poor. •Visibility is poor due to the weather (rain, snow, fog, windshield frost, etc.). •Other light sources, such as streetlights and electric billboards are illumina ting the road ahead. •The brightness level of th e road ahead constantly changes. •The road is bumpy or with many curves. •A vehicle cuts in front of you, or a vehicle in front of you is not in the preceding or oncoming direction. •Your vehicle is tilted with a heavy load in the rear. If you find the timing of beam changes inconvenient for driving, change the headlight beams manually. ■The headlight switch is in AUTO.■The lever is in the low beam position. ■The system recognizes that you are driving at night and the low beam headlights come on. ■The vehicle speed is above 25 mph (40 km/h). The system operates when: The camera is not detecting any lights coming from preceding or oncoming vehicles: The headlights change to high beams. 15-degrees The camera detects lights coming from a preceding or oncoming vehicle: The headlights are return ed to low beams. The camera monitors the range within the 30-degrees view angle. The distance that the camera can detect lights ahead differs depending on conditions, such as the brightness of the lights and the weather.
