6.11    Arithmetic Operation between Spectra

Shown here is an example of obtaining the difference between
two overlaid spectra.
Display the spectrum for arithmetic operation. Now, click the
Arithmetic (A) command on the Data (D) menu or click the
(spectral calculation) on the Processing toolbar. A window as in
Fig. 6-19 will open.

6.12  Area Calculation

An area value is obtainable by integration in the specified range
of the presently displayed spectrum.
Select the Integration (I) command from the Data (D) menu or
click the (area calculation) button on the Processing toolbar.
The window as in Fig. 6-22 will appear.

Fig.6-25

The elements (D
1 to Dn) of a spectrum are subjected to the
following calculation for obtaining the area value.

S3 =  {D
2 + D3 + … Dn-2 + Dn-1 + D1 + Dn}/2∗∆λ
S2 =  (D
1 + Dn) ∗ {∆λ∗ (n-1)}
(D
1 + Dn) ∗ (Section start wavelength (WL1)) –
(Section end wavelength (WL
2))
S1 = S3 – S2

n : Spectral data at section end wavelength
