Press RESET (on some devices , a gr een light will turn on). 3. r P ess TEST (listen for click; Reset button will trip, and on some devices a gr een light will turn off). 4. r P ess and release RESET (listen for click; Reset button will latch, and on some devices , a gr een light will turn on). The power suppl y cor d is read y f or oper ation. NO TE: • T he RESET but ton must be pushed in completel y for proper operation. ( S ee Fig.6) • T he power suppl y cor d must be replaced if it fails to trip when the test but ton is pr essed or fails to reset. • DO NOT turn the air conditioner on or off by unplugging the power suppl y cor d from the outlet. Alway s turn the air conditioner on or off at the contr ol panel or by using the remo te contr ol. • A damaged power suppl y cor d must be replaced with a ne w po wer suppl y cor d obtained from the product manuf acturer and installed by a qualified service professional. REMOVE PACKA GING MATERIAL S • Remove packaging materials. Save the cart on and the foam packaging for storing the unit when no t in use. Do not set the air conditioner on its side, front, back or upside down. • T he air conditioner must be standing upright for 2 hour s prior to installation and oper ation. INSTALL TOP CHANNEL 1. Place the top channel on the top of the air conditioner , lining up the holes in the top channel with the holes in the top of the unit. Mak e sur e the channel is facing forw ard as indicated by the illustrations.(See Fig.7&8) 2. Using 3/8 self -tapping screw s, at tach the top channel to the top of the air conditioner. (S ee Fig.8) Use three (3) 3/8 self-tapping screw s for model: HWF05XCL ENGLISH UNPACKING THE AIR CONDITIONER PREPARING THE AIR CONDITIONER EXCE SSIVE WEIGHT HAZARD When moving or lifting the air conditioner , use tw o or mor e people. W ear gloves when handling the air conditioner to pr otect against possible sharp edges and metal fins. ENGLISH INSTALL SIDE CUR TAINS NO TE: A ttach side curtains to the air conditioner before placing the unit in the windo w. 1. Place the tabbed side of the side curtain in the track on the right -hand side of the air conditioner cabinet. (S ee Fig.9) 2. Slide the tabbed side of the side curtain down over all 3 tracks until the curtain is aligned with the top and bottom of the air conditioner cabinet. (S ee Fig.11) 3. Slide the side curtain frame over the top of the side curtain, then int o the channel on the top of the air conditioner and int o the track on the bottom of the air conditioner. (S ee Fig.12) 4. Slide the side curtain frame as close to the air c onditioner cabinet as necessary to lock the side curtain to the frame. Gentl y pr ess the frame until it clicks. (S ee Fig.10 & Fig.12) 5. Repeat above steps for the left-hand side curtain and frame. Make sur e no gaps are left to ensu re that air does not escape into or out of the room. Mak e sur e to place the unit so that it is resting on the windo wsill with a ¼ to ½ down war d tilt to w ar ds the outside. Lo w er the windo w sash behind the top channel t o hold the unit in place. (S ee Fig.15) ENGLISH PREPARING THE WINDO W NOTES AND WARNING S: • Be sur e your air conditioner does not fall out of the windo w opening during installation or removal. Loosen the screw located on the lower -right hand corner of the air conditioner. 5. e d i l S the side brack et over the screw. The side brack et should be resting on the windo w sill. (S ee Fig.16) 6. Partiall y tighten the screw. Secur e the unit before tightening completel y. 7. e s U 1/8 drill bit to drill a starter hole through the holes in the side br ack et into the window sill. 8. g n i s U tw o (2) 1 wood screw s, at tach the side brack et to the windo w sill. 9. COMPLETING THE INSTALL ATION AT TA CH SIDE CUR TAINS TO WINDO W 1. l l u P the right -hand curtain and frame out until it fits flush to the side of the windo w frame. (S ee Fig.17) 2. Use a 1/8” drill bit to drill a starter hole through the top hole in the side curtain and into the windo w sash. 3. Insert one (1) 1 wood screw s thr ough the top hole of the left hand curtain and into the windo w sash. (S ee Fig.18) 4. Repeat for the left-hand curtain. 5. Use a 1/8 drill bit to drill a starter hole into the windo w sill using the bottom hole in the side curtain as a guide. 6. Insert one (1) 1 wood screw s thr ough the bottom hole of the right -hand curtain and into the window sill. (See Fig.19) 7. Repeat for the left-hand curtain. FINAL INSTALL ATION 1. Unc oil the included foam seal. (S ee Fig.20) 2. Insert the foam seal behind the top of the lower windo w sash and against the glass of the upper window sash. 3. e c a l P the windo w lock brack et as sho wn in the diagr am using a scr ew driver. Use a 1/8 drill bit to drill a starter hole through the sash. (See Fig.21) hole in the windo w lock brack et and into the upper window 4. Attach the windo w lock brack et to the upper window with one (1) 1 wood screw to secur e the unit in place. 5. g u l P unit into a gr ounded 3 pr ong outlet. 6. r P ess RESET on the power suppl y cor d. Operating your air conditioner properly helps you to obtain the best possible results. This section explains how to operate this air conditioner. ENGLISH STARTING THE AIR CONDITIONER IMPORTANT: • When you turn off the air conditioner , at the control panel, wait at least 3 minutes before turning it back on. This prevents the compressor from overloading. This 3 minute delay also applies when switching from cool mode to fan and back. • Do not operate your air conditioner when the outside temperature is below 61°F (16° C). The inside evaporator coil will freeze up, and the air conditioner will not operate properly. POWER The Po wer s witch t urns the air c onditioner on or off. THERMOSTA T C ONTR OL KNOB This knob c ontrols the temper atur e of the room FAN Pr ess the SPEED s witch to either HI or L OW. Set the thermostat c ontrol to the FAN ONL Y setting for circulation without cooling. NORMAL C OOL Press the SPEED s witch to LOW. Set the thermostat c ontrol to the desir ed temperatur e set ting. If the r oom is not satisfactory after a r easonable amount of time, adjust the thermostat c ontrol to the appr opriate set ting to meet y our needs. MAX COOL Set the thermostat c ontrol to MAX C OOL mark. T he air directional louvers let you contr ol the direction of the airflo w. The air filter is removable for eas y cleaning. A clean air filter helps remove dust, lint, and particles fr om the air for optimal cooling and oper ating efficiency. Check the filter every tw o weeks during the oper ating season. 1. Turn off the air conditioner and unplug the power suppl y cor d from the outlet. 2. Remove the air filter that slides out. (See Fig.23) 3. e s U a vacuum cleaner with the hose attachment to clean the air filter. If the air filter is very dirt y, w ash it in warm water with a mild deter gent. Do not w ash the air filter in a dish washer or clo thes washer , or use any chemical cleaners. Do not use a clo thes dryer or micr ow ave oven to dry it. Air -dry the air filter completel y bef ore placing it back in the unit. 4. Place the air filter back in the air conditioner. 5. Plug the power suppl y cor d int o the outlet and turn on the air conditioner NO TE: Do not oper ate the air conditioner without the filter in place.
