This air conditioner must be properl y installed and use the corr ect wall outlet that matches with the air conditioner’s power suppl y cor d in acc ordance with the Installation Section of this Use & Car e Guide before it is oper ated. 3. r e v e N unplug the air conditioner by pulling on the power suppl y cor d. Al way s grip the plug firmly and pull straight out from the wall outlet. 4. Replace the power suppl y cor d immediatel y if it bec omes damaged in an y w ay. A ne w po wer suppl y cor d must be pur chased from the air conditioner manuf acturer and installed by a qualified technician. DO NOT use a po wer suppl y cor d that is crack ed, split, cut, or damaged anywher e along its length or either at the plug end or connect or end. 5. T urn off the air c onditioner and unplug it from the wall outlet before perf orming any cleaning or maintenance. 6. o D no t st or e or use combustible or flammable materials or liquids on or near the air conditioner. 7. f I the wall outlet configur ation does not match the plug configur ation on the air conditioner , the wall outlet must be changed by a qualified electrician. ENGLISH OPERATIONAL SAFETY & WARNING S 1. This air conditioner contains no consumer serviceable parts. If you have pr oblems or questions regar ding the oper ation of your air conditioner al w ay s call Haier Customer Service: 1-877-337-3639. 2. e B sur e that the air conditioner is pr operl y and secur ely installed in the windo w acc ording to the installation instructions included in this Use & Car e Guide. 3. DO NOT drill any holes in the base or sides of the air conditioner. 4. O D NO T place finger s or objects in the air dischar ge or air intak e in the fr ont of the air conditioner. 5. O D NO T oper ate the air conditioner with a pr otective cover on the outside section. 6. O D NO T block the air dischar ge or air intak e ar eas on the front panel. 7. O D NO T block the side louver s on the outside of the air conditioner. 8. O D NO T place any objects either on the indoor or outdoor sections of the air conditioner. 9. Oper ate the air c onditioner with the air filter installed. 10. Keep this Use & Car e Guide, carton and packing material for fut ure use in removing, storing and reinstalling the air conditioner. ENGLISHPAGE 6 INSTALL ATION REQUIREMENT S IMPORTANT : e v r e s b O all governing codes and ordinances. Check the location where the air c onditioner will be installed. Make sur e you have every thing necessary for corr ect installation. THE LOC ATION SHOULD PROVIDE: • A gr ounded electrical outlet within 6 ft. (183 cm) of wher e the power suppl y cor d exits the air c onditioner , for models: HWF05XCL NO TE: o D no t use an extension cor d, plug adapter , sur ge protect or or multi-outlet adapter. • Fr ee movement of air in the room to be cooled. • A lar ge enough window opening for the air conditioner. (See Fig.2) • T he air conditioner must not be installed in a thr ough-the-w all sleeve or in a w all. It can only be installed in a double-hung window. NO TE: T he outside cabinet louvers and air discharge must not be obstructed by bushes, tr ees , etc. Air must be able to pass freel y thr ough the cabinet louver s. ENGLISH 1. O D NO T cut or remove the grounding prong on the attached power suppl y cor d. Doing so ma y cause sparks or fire, and voids all warr anties. For safety purposes the air conditioner must be pr operl y gr ounded. 2. To avoid a fir e ha zar d or possible electric shock, DO NOT use an adapter plug, extension cor d, sur ge protect ors, or multi-outlet adapters with the air conditioner. 3. The power suppl y cor d is equipped with a 3-pr ong plug which mates with a standar d 115 volt w all outlet to minimi ze the possibilit y of electrical shock from this air conditioner. 4. The power suppl y cor d includes a leak age current detection interrupter device (LCDI). A RE SET and TEST but ton are on the plug case. The device should be tested on a periodic basis by pressing the TEST but ton and then the RESET but ton while it is plugged into the wall outlet. If the TEST but ton does not trip or the RESET will not sta y engaged, do not use the air c onditioner and contact a qualified service technician. 5. e v a H the wall outlet and circuit inspected by a qualified electrician to ensur e that the wall outlet is pr operl y gr ounded. 6. f I ther e is a 2-pr ong wall outlet present and not a 3-pr ong wall outlet, it is the responsibilit y of the user to have it replaced with a pr operl y gr ounded 3-prong outlet. 7. The air conditioner should alw ay s be plugged into a dedicated electrical outlet which has a voltage rating that matches the serial label on the side of the air conditioner. 8. The electrical ratings for y our air conditioner are listed on the Model/Serial Number label. The Model/Serial Number label is located on the side of the air conditioner cabinet. 9. Specific electrical requir ements are listed in the chart below. Follo w the requir ements for the t ype of plug on the power suppl y cor d. ENGLISHPAGE 8 INSTALL ATION REQUIREMENT S REQUIR ED GR OUNDING METHOD (S ee Fig.3) T his air conditioner must be grounded. This air conditioner is equipped with a po wer suppl y cor d that has a 3 pr ong grounding plug. The power suppl y c or d must be plugged into a mating, grounded 3 pr ong outlet, and grounded in acc ordance with all local codes and ordinances. If a mating outlet is no t available, it is the cust omer’s responsibilit y to contact a qualified electrician and ensur e that a pr operl y gr ounded 3 pr ong outlet is installed. This power suppl y cor d contains a curr ent detection device. If the power suppl y cor d is crushed, this device will detect current leak age and power will be disc onnected from the air conditioner. If this power suppl y cor d is damaged, it canno t be r epair ed and must be replaced with a cor d from the product manuf acturer.
