    AfullmailboxcanaffectthespeedatwhichCiscoUnityConnectionprocessesyourmessages.Whenyou
    signinbyphone,Connectionnotifiesyouwhenyourmailboxis:
    •Almostfull.
    •Fullandyoucannolongersendnewmessages.
    •Fullandyoucannolongersendorreceivenewmessages.
    YourConnectionadministratorsetsthestoragelimitsforyourmailbox.Exceedingthoselimitscanprevent
    youfromsendingandreceivingmessages.
    Broadcastmessagesarenotincludedinyourtotalmailboxsize.Note
    Reasons Your Mailbox May Fill Up Quickly
    IfyoufeelthatyourCiscoUnityConnectionmailboxfillsupmorequicklythanyouexpect,thereasonslisted
    belowmayexplainwhy.(YourConnectionadministratorspecifiesthesizeofyourmailbox.)
    Message-retentionpolicymaynotbeenforced
    Bydefault,Connectiondoesnotautomaticallydeletemessagesoncetheyreachacertainage.Thismeansthat
    unlessyourConnectionadministratorsetupthesystemtoenforceamessage-retentionpolicy,youare
    responsibleformanagingthesizeofyourmailboxbyperiodicallyreviewingyoursavedmessagesandeither
    moving,archiving,ordeletingthempermanently.
    IfConnectionissetuptoenforceamessage-retentionpolicy,askyourConnectionadministratorhowlong
    thesystemstoresyourmessagesbeforepermanentlydeletingthem.Youcanthenplantoarchiveormove

    							importantmessagesaheadoftime.Connectiondoesnotindicatewhenamessage-retentionpolicyisenforced,

    Whenyoureceivenondeliveryreceipts(NDRs)formessagesthatyousend,yourmailboxcanquicklyincrease
    insize—especiallywhenoriginalmessagesincludedlargeattachments.
    Totalmessagesizeincludesoriginalwhenmessagesareforwarded
    Youmayreceivemessagesthathavebeenforwardedmanytimesover,whichincreasesmessagesize.The
    originalmessageplusallrecordedintroductionsthatwereaddedduringforwardingequalthetotalmessage
    size.Asaresult,yourmailboxcanexceeditslimit,eventhoughyoumayhaverelativelyfewmessagesstored
    init.
    Totalmessagesizeincludesattachments
    Youmayreceivemessagesthatcontainattachedfilessuchasspreadsheets,documents,faxes,andpictures.
    Themessageplusallattachedfilesequalthetotalmessagesize.Asaresult,yourmailboxcanexceeditslimit,
    eventhoughyoumayhaverelativelyfewmessagesstoredinit.
