Be sure to read “Safety Instructions” on page  10 – 22 . Pay attention to  the following 
when installing the projector.

• Do not install the projector in a humid or dust y location or a position where there is a lot 
of oily smoke or cigarette smoke. Optical  parts such as the lens and mirror may be 
stained, resulting in poor picture quality.
 Do not install close to high-voltage power  lines or power sources. The projector may not

■ Install facing in the correct directionWhen the projector is used mounted on the 
ceiling or installed in a high location, it is nec-
essary to periodically clean the air intake and 
exhaust vents, and the area around the air fil-

■Ceiling Mounting or Rear Projection
You can mount the projector on the ceiling (c eiling mounting) with it turned upside down 
or place it behind the screen (rear proj ection) if you use a translucent screen.
Make sure to use the optional ceiling attachm ent. For the ceiling attachment, refer to 
page  184 “Option”.

Installing / Removing the Lens Unit
■Installing the Lens Unit
1Use a Phillips-head screwdriver and loosen  the lamp cover screw, then open the lamp 
cover.
The lamp cover screw is attached to the la mp cover and designed to prevent it from 
falling off.
Before installing or removing the lens unit, be sure to disconnect
the power plug or connector. Failure  to do so may result in fire,
electric shock, or injury.

2Loosen the cosmetic panel screw, then sli de the cosmetic panel toward the rear to 
remove it.
The cosmetic panel screw is attached to the cosmetic panel and designed to prevent 
it from falling off.
3In order to prevent damage, close the la mp cover and temporarily fasten the screw.
4Remove the sleeve screws (2 on top and 2 on bottom).
