3-15Output Trays Loading and Outputting Paper 3 Output Trays Output Tray Types This printer has two output trays: face-down output tray and face-up output tray. Do not switch the output tray during printing. This may result in misfeeds. CAUTION Keep your hands or clothing away from the roller in the output area. Even if the printer is not printing, sudden rotation of the roller may catch your hands or cl othing, resulting in personal injury. Face-down Output Tray Printed paper is output to the face-down output tray with the printed side facing down.
3-16Output Trays Loading and Outputting Paper 3 When outputting Legal size paper or other long-size paper to the face-down output tray, open the face-down output tray support to prevent the paper from hanging out of the tray. When you use the face-down output tray support, gently open it until it stops. IMPORTANT •Do not touch the paper during automatic 2-sided printing until it is com\ pletely output to the face-down output tray. In automatic 2-sided printing, the paper is partially output once after printed on its surface and is fed again to be printed on its reverse side. •When performing automatic 2-sided printing, the printer can output paper only to the face-down output tray. •When printing envelopes, output them to the face-up output tray. If envelopes are output to the face-down output tray, this may result in misfeeds. •The surroundings of the face-down output tray are hot during printing or immediately after printing. When taking out of the paper or removing jammed paper, be careful not to touch the surroundings of the face-down output tray. NOTE The face-down output tray can hold up to approximately 250 sheets of plain paper (64 g/ m2). The paper capacity varies depending on the paper type and paper size. For more details, see Paper Capacity of the Output Trays, on p. 3-18.
3-17Output Trays Loading and Outputting Paper 3 Face-up Output Tray Printed paper is output to the face-up output tray on the rear of the printer unit with the printed side facing up. The face-up output tray is suitable to print transparencies, labels, or envelopes which tend to curl, since the printed paper is output flattened. IMPORTANT •Be sure to close the face-up output tray before performing automatic 2-sided printing. •The surroundings of the face-up output tray are hot during printing or immediately after printing. When taking out of the paper or removing jammed paper, be careful not to touch the surroundings of the face-up output tray. NOTE The face-up output tray can hold up to approximately 50 sheets of plain paper (64 g/m2). The paper capacity varies depending on the paper type and paper size. For more details, see Paper Capacity of the Output Trays, on p. 3-18.
