For Windows 98, click [Next]. 14Select [Specify the location of the driver (Advanced)], then click [Next]. For Windows 98: Select [Search for the best driver for your device. (Recommended)], then click [Next]. A dialog box is displayed that allows you to specify the search location. 15If the supplied LBP2900/2900i User Software CD-ROM is not in the CD-ROM drive, insert the LBP2900/2900i User Software CD-ROM into the drive. If CD-ROM Setup appears, click [Exit].

(Recommended).], remove the checkmark from [Removable Media (Floppy, CD-ROM...)], place a checkmark next to [Specify a location]. For Windows 98: Remove the checkmarks from [Floppy disk drives] and [CD-ROM drive], place a checkmark next to [Specify a location]. 17Click [Browse], and then select a folder. Select [D:\English\Win98_Me], and then click [OK]. In this case the CD-ROM drive is assumed to be assigned to D:. The actual CD-ROM drive letter may be different depending on the computer you are using.
Installing the CAPT Software3-18 Setting Up the Printing Environment 3 18Make sure that the correct path is displayed in the [Specify a location] field, and then click [Next]. 19Click [Next]. 20Enter a new name in the [Printer name] field if you want to change the name of the printer. If another printer driver has been already installed in the computer, the message [Do you want your Windows-based programs to use this printer as the default printer?] appears. In this case, select [Yes] or [No].

Windows will begin copying files. 22Once the installation complete dialog is displayed, click [OK]. 23Click [Finish]. This completes the installation of the USB class driver and printer driver. For Windows 2000 Installing from CD-ROM Setup 1Make sure that the computer and printer are turned off at the power.

IMPORTANT If the Plug and Play automatic setup wizard appears, click [Cancel] and install the CAPT software using the following procedure. 6Log on as a user who is a member of the Administrators group. NOTE Full Control Permissions are required for the installation of the printer driver. 7Insert the supplied LBP2900/2900i User Software CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If the CD-ROM is already in the drive, eject the CD-ROM and reinsert it into the drive again. The CD-ROM Setup appears automatically. IMPORTANT If the CD-ROM Setup does not start automatically, select [Run] from the [Start] menu, enter D:\English\CNAB4MNU.exe, and click the [OK] button. (In this case the CD-ROM drive is assumed to be assigned to D:. The actual CD-ROM drive letter may be different depending on the computer you are using.)

After the preparation for installation is completed, the CAPT (Canon Advanced Printing Technology) software installer starts up, and the [Setup Wizard] dialog box appears. 10Click [Next]. The [License Agreement] dialog box is displayed.
Installing the CAPT Software3-23 Setting Up the Printing Environment 3 11Confirm the contents of the agreement and select [I accept the terms in the license agreement], and then click [Next]. 12Confirm that there is a checkmark next to [Install Printer Driver through a USB Connection], then click [Next]. 13The message [Installation cannot be stopped once it starts. Do you want to continue?] is displayed. Click [Yes]. NOTE If the [Digital Signature Not Found] dialog box appears, click [Yes].

Installation of the USB class driver (supplied with the OS) and the printer driver starts automatically. NOTE If the computer does not automatically recognize the printer, refer to Installation Problems, on p. 6-27.

Windows restarts. This completes the installation of the USB class driver (supplied with the OS) and printer driver. Installing with Plug and Play 1Make sure that the computer and printer are turned off at the power. 2Open the USB cover.
