51 You can directly select and set the shooting functions displayed on the LCD monitor. This is called the Quick Control screen. 1Press the button. XThe Quick Control screen will appear (7 ). 2Set the desired function. Use < 9> to select a function. X The setting of the selected function is displayed at the bottom. X Turn the < 5> or < 6> dial to change the setting. 3Take the picture. Press the shutter button completely to take the picture. X The captured image will be displayed. Select the desired function and press . The function’s setting screen will appear. Turn the < 5> or < 6> dial to change the setting. There are also functions that are set by pressing the < B > button. Press < 0> to finalize the setting and return to the Qu ick Control screen. 54 3 Menu Operations 1Display the menu screen. Press the < M> button to display the menu screen. 2Select a tab. Each time you press the button, the main tab will switch. Turn the < 6> dial to select a secondary tab. For example, the [z 4] tab refers to the screen displayed when the z (Shooting) tab’s fourth dot from the left is selected. 3Select the desired item. Turn the < 5> dial to select the item, then press < 0>. 4Select the setting. Turn the < 5> dial to select the desired setting. The current setting is indicated in blue. 5Set the desired setting. Press < 0> to set it. 6Exit the setting. Press the button to exit the menu and return to shooting-ready state. Menu Setting Procedure The explanation of menu functions hereinafter assumes that you have pressed the < M> button to display the menu screen. You can also use < 9> to set menu functions. (Except [ 31: Erase images ] and [51: Format card ].) To cancel, press the < M> button. For details about each menu item, see page 363. COPY
55 If the card is new or was previously formatted by another camera or computer, format the card with the camera. When the card is formatted, all images and data in the card will be erased. As even protecte d images will be erased, make sure there is nothing you need to keep. If necessary, transfer the images to a personal comput er, etc., before formatting the card. 1Select [Format card]. Under the [ 51] tab, select [ Format card], then press < 0>. 2Select the card. [f ] is Card 1, and [ g] is Card 2. Turn the < 5> dial to select a card, then press < 0>. 3Select [OK]. Select [OK ], then press < 0>. X The card will be formatted. 56 Before You Start The card is new. The card was formatted by a diff erent camera or a computer. The card is full with images or data. A card-related error is displayed (p.388). Format the card in the following cases: Cards with 128 GB or lower capacity will be formatted in FAT format. Cards with a capacity over 128 GB will be formatted in exFAT format. If you format a card with a capacity over 128 GB with this camera and then insert it into another camera, an error may be displayed and the card may become impossible to use. Depending on the pers onal computer’s OS or card reader, it may not rec ognize a card formatted in exFAT format. When the card is formatted or data is erased, only the file management information is changed. The actual data is not completely erased. Be aware of this when selling or disc arding the card. When discarding the card, destroy the card physically to prevent personal data from being leaked. The card capacity displa yed on the card format screen may be smaller than the capacity in dicated on the card. This device incorporates exFAT te chnology licensed from Microsoft. COPY
57 Before You Start To save battery power, the camera turns off automatically after a set time of idle operation elapses. If you do not want the camera to turn off automatically, set this to [ Disable]. After the power turns off, you can turn on the camera again by pressi ng the shutter button or other buttons. 1Select [Auto power off]. Under the [ 52] tab, select [ Auto power off], then press < 0>. 2Set the desired time. Select the desired setting, then press . You can set how long the image is displayed on the LCD monitor immediately after capture. To keep the image displayed, set [ Hold]. To not have the image displayed, set [Off ]. 1Select [Image review]. Under the [ z3] tab, select [Image review ], then press < 0>. 2Set the desired time. Select the desired setting, then press . 3 Setting the Power-off Time/Auto Power Off 3 Setting the Image Review Time Even if [ Disable] is set, the LCD monitor will turn off automatically after 30 min. to save power. (The camera’s power does not turn off.) If [ Hold ] is set, the image will be displa yed until the auto power off time elapses. COPY

Under the [ 54] tab, select [ Clear all camera settings], then press < 0>. 2Select [OK]. Select [OK ], then press < 0>.
