Printing a fax from the memory
If you have selected Fax Storage (Menu, 2, 5, 1), you can still print 
a fax from the memory when you are at your MFC. (See Setting Fax 
Storage on page 8-2.)
1Press Menu, 2, 5, 3.

Advanced receiving operations
Operation from extension telephones
If you answer a fax call on an extension telephone, or an external 
telephone into the correct socket on the machine, you can make your 
MFC take the call by using the Remote Activation Code. When you 
press the Remote Activation Code 
51 (91 for New Zealand), 
the MFC starts to receive a fax. 
(See Fax Detect on page 5-5.)

Changing the remote codes
Remote Codes might not work with some telephone systems. 
The preset Remote Activation code is 
51 (91 for New Zealand). 
The preset Deactivation code is 
#51 (#91 for New Zealand).

2Press Menu, 2, 1, 4.

Polling
Polling is the process of retrieving faxes from another fax machine. 
You can use your MFC to poll other machines, or you can have 
someone poll your MFC.
Everyone who is involved in Polling needs to set up their fax 
machines for Polling. When someone polls your MFC to receive a 
fax, they pay for the call. If you poll someones fax machine to receive 
a fax, you pay for the call.

Setup for Polling Receive with Secure Code
You need to make sure you are using the same secure code as the 
other party.
1If it is not illuminated in green, press   (Fax).
2Press Menu, 2, 1, 8.
3Press   or   to select 
Secure.

4Enter a four-digit secure code.
This is the same as the security code of the fax machine you are 
polling.

Sequential Polling
The MFC can request original documents from several fax units in a 
single operation. You just specify several destinations in Step 5.

How does Telstra® FaxStream® Duet® Work?
Incoming calls to the voice number, will have the standard ring 
pattern of long, long tone, followed by a pause, repeated, while the 
new fax number will have a different ring pattern of three short bursts 
of ring, repeated at regular intervals.

The Caller ID Appears on the Display When Your 
Telephone Rings
As your telephone rings, the display shows you the caller’s phone 
number or name if the name has stored in the One-Touch and 
Speed-Dial. Once you pick up the handset, the caller’s ID 
disappears. You will see up to the first 16 characters of the number 
on the display.
