To use the media card again, you must format it. Turnonencryption Your BlackBerry device creates and stores an encryption key when you turn on encryption. CAUTION:Turn off encryption or back up your encrypted media card files before a security wipe. A security wipe is designed to delete your device data including the encryption key. Without the encryption key, your device cant access your encrypted media card files. Checkhowmuchstoragespaceisfree You can view the amount of used and free storage space available on your BlackBerry device and your media card. To change the ratio option for your pictures and videos, on the home screen, tap > . tTransfer some of your data to your computer using a USB connection, a Wi-Fi connection, or BlackBerry Link. To download BlackBerry Link, on your computer, visit www.blackberry.com/ BlackBerryLink . tDelete files that you donht need. To delete multiple items, in an app, tap > . Select the items and tap > . tDelete apps that you donht use. To delete an app, on the home screen, touch and hold an app icon until the icons begin to blink. On the icon for the app that you want to delete, tap . If you donht see on the app icon, the app canht be deleted. tDelete messages in the BlackBerry Hub that you donht need. You can delete individual messages and multiple messages. To delete messages only from your device, but keep them on the messaging server, in the BlackBerry Hub, tap > > DisplayandActions. In the DeleteOn drop-down list, tap HubOnly. To delete all messages that were sent or received before a specific date, touch and hold the date bar. The messages are highlighted. Tap . tClear the BlackBerry Browser information and Browser history. In the Browser, tap > > Privacy andSecurity . Tap ClearCookiesandOtherData. On a Mac computer, click Next > Finish. tTo transfer data before you add your device to BlackBerry Link, on a Windows computer, click SwitchDevices. On a Mac computer, click TransferData. Follow the instructions on the screen. If you want to stop associating your device with BlackBerry Link, you can remove your device from BlackBerry Link. AboutBlackBerryIDandBlackBerryLink Your BlackBerry ID is a username (email address) and password used to access multiple BlackBerry products and services, such as BBM and the BlackBerry World storefront. In many situations, your BlackBerry ID allows BlackBerry products to work seamlessly without prompting you to enter your username and password. If you donht have a BlackBerry ID and you want one, you can create it from BlackBerry Link. When you sign in with your BlackBerry ID in BlackBerry Link or BlackBerry Blend, your computer becomes another device that is associated with your BlackBerry ID. All your devices associated with your BlackBerry ID appear in BlackBerry Link. Aboutremotefileaccess Imagine arriving at a meeting, only to discover that a document you need is on your computer. Remote file access lets you use the File Manager app on your device to access and manage media and documents on the computer that BlackBerry Link is installed on. By default, devices you add to BlackBerry Link can access files in the media and documents libraries on your computer, as long as they are associated with the same BlackBerry ID you use in BlackBerry Link. You can turn off remote access for specific devices. Viewpairedcomputers Your BlackBerry device can be connected to up to ten computers using BlackBerry Link. 1.On your device, on the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 2.Tap Settings > DeviceConnections. Tip:To access your computer files over the mobile network, turn on the UseMobileNetwork switch. To remove a computer from the list, touch and hold a computer. Tap . Editordeleteafile On your device, do one of the following: tTo edit a file thaths stored on your computer, tap the file. If your BlackBerry device supports editing the file, tap . If you save your changes in the default location, indicates when BlackBerry Link is syncing the file and overwriting the original version on your computer. tTo permanently delete a file from your device thaths stored on your computer, touch and hold a file. Tap . Copyafilefromyourcomputertoyourdevice After you save a file thaths stored on your computer to your BlackBerry device, you can view the file even when youhre not connected to the Internet. 1.On your device, touch and hold a file thaths stored on your computer. 2.Tap . 3.Navigate to where you want to save the file. For example, your media card. 4.Tap Paste. If BlackBerry Link syncs your device and computer files, you might have two versions of the file on your computer (the original file and the version that you saved to your device). Make sure that you open the version that you last edited before making more updates to the file. Aboutbackingupdevicedata Using BlackBerry Link, you can back up and restore most of the data on your BlackBerry device. You can back up your settings, phone history, fonts, saved searches, messages, organizer data, browser bookmarks, and media files. You should regularly create and save a backup file on your computer, especially before you update any software. Maintaining a current backup file on your computer might allow you to recover device data if your device is lost, stolen, or corrupted by an unforeseen issue. Note:If your device is activated on BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, contact your administrator to verify if you are able to back up and restore your device data. By default, BlackBerry Link performs a quick backup of your device, including all data except your media files and applications. 4.Do one of the following: tTo set the option to back up your device automatically, select the Automaticallybackupmy device checkbox. In the drop-down list, select how often you want to back up your device data. tTo back up all of your device data, select the FullBackup option. tTo back up specific data, select the CustomBackup option. Click Configure. Select the checkboxes beside the data that you want to include in your backup files. On a Mac computer, do the following: 1.Open BlackBerry Link. 2.At the side of the BlackBerry Link window, click your device. 3.Click BackUpRestore. By default, BlackBerry Link backs up all of your device data. 4.Do one the following: tTo set the option to back up your device automatically, select the Backupmydevice checkbox. In the drop-down list, select how often you want to back up your device data. tTo back up specific data, choose the Selectdatatoincludeinyourbackupfiles checkbox. Navigate to the .bbb or .ipd file. Click OK. 6.Click Restore. On a Mac computer, do the following: 1.Open BlackBerry Link. 2.Connect your device to your computer using a USB cable. 3.At the side of the BlackBerry Link window, click your device. 4.Click BackUpRestore. 5.Click RestoreDevice. 6.Do one of the following: tTo restore all of the data in a backup file to your device, click a backup file. tTo restore specific data in a backup file to your device, click a backup file. Clear the Restoreall data checkbox. Clear the checkbox beside one or more databases that you donht want to restore. tTo restore data from a backup file that is not listed, click Change. Navigate to the .bbb file or .ipd file. Click OK. tTo remove all of your device data and restore your device to its default factory settings, click Restoretofactorysettings. 7.Click Restore. AboutupdatingyourdevicesoftwarewithBlackBerryLink You might want to update your device software for any of the following reasons: tTo access the latest apps and features tTo resolve a technical issue tYour service provider requires that you update your device software If a new version of the device software is available for your device, a notification appears on your computer, beside your device name in BlackBerry Link. Your data and settings are automatically restored on your device when the software update is complete. It could take up to an hour to update your device software. During that time, you canht disconnect your device from your computer. UpdateyourdevicesoftwarewithBlackBerryLink Before you begin, make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet. 1.On your computer, open BlackBerry Link. 2.Connect your device to your computer with a USB cable. 3.At the side of the BlackBerry Link window, click your device. 4.Click SoftwareUpdates > CheckforUpdates. 5.If a software update is available, click InstallUpdate. Note:If you want software updates to be installed automatically when you connect your device to BlackBerry Link, select the Automaticallydownloadupdatesforyourdevicesoftwareand BlackBerryLink checkbox. RestoreyourdevicetoitsfactorydefaultsettingsusingBlackBerryLink If you restore your BlackBerry device to its default settings, BlackBerry Link deletes all of the data and third-party applications from your device. Any IT policies that are applied to your device are also deleted. After you restore your device to its default settings, you can run the setup application on your device to begin using the device again. Before you begin, you should back up your data so that you have a copy on your computer. CAUTION:You canht stop the process of restoring your device to its default settings after you start it.
