Assigning Group Call Distribution Mailboxes (1030/3070 Only)
If your Control Unit type is a Merlin 1030 or 3070, with Feature Module 5, you can use
the CLASSIC MAIL system’s call routing capability to route callers to Merlin’s Group
Call Distribution Intercom Numbers (850-854). In addition, you can assign any
regular or guest mailbox to each of these intercom numbers. If you assign a regular

Setting the Number of Rings
You can set the number of times a call will ring before the CLASSIC MAIL system will
answer it. This setting can be different for normal business hours (day) and off hours
(night). You can also set a particular line always be answered after a set number of
rings.
Setting the Number of Rings Before an Outside Call Is Answered
Initially, the CLASSIC MAIL system is set to the business hour (day) mode. Day mode
is set to allow a call to ring four times before the call is answered...

The installer initially sets the system date and time. If there is an extended power
failure, or when daylight savings time changes, you can change the clock that the

When your CLASSIC MAIL system is turned on for the first time, it goes through a
process of self-initialization. This includes identifying all incoming lines connected
to your Control Unit, and the type of Control Unit you have. This information is
saved in the CLASSIC MAIL system’s memory. The CLASSIC MAIL system will
answer incoming calls only on lines that it has identified during self-initialization.
Certain types of lines may not be properly identified during this self-initialization
