Turn the computer around and securely tighten the screws on the replaced clutch.

Open the display and verify the clutch and display latch function.

Remove the display assembly from the computer,.

If replacing the other clutch, remove it and follow the same procedures to align and tighten.

Replacement Note: After reassembly, verify that the display is centered, straight, and the edges 
flush over the bottom case.

Display Panel
Warning: Replacement Display Panels come with a manufacturer matched Display Rear 
Housing—both must be replaced at the same time, or damage can result.
Tools
This procedure requires the following tools: #0 Phillips screwdriver (magnetized)
• 
Black stick (nylon probe 922-5065) (or other non-conductive nylon or plastic flat-blade tool
• 
Putty knife (922-6761)
• 
Kapton tape (922-1731 (0.5-inch x 12-yard roll))
• 
Preliminary Steps
Before you begin, remove the following:

Note: If replacing the display bezel, also remove the clutch cover.

Procedure
Warnings:Do not touch the back of the display panel where it says “Don’t Touch.” And, do not put 
• 
pressure anywhere in the white center area of the back of the display panel. 
Do not remove the camera board. It is pressure installed and part of the display bezel 
• 
and is not replaceable separately.
If the clutch cover has been removed, skip to 
1.   removing the display panel side screws.

Disconnect the camera flex cable from the camera board and carefully lift off of the adhesive.

Lift the inverter and disconnect the left inverter cable.

Peel back all Kapton tape from the inverter cable, LVDS cable, and camera cable.

  Remove four screws from each side of the display assembly.  
 
The following procedures disengage four adhesive strips, two along the bottom and two

along the top of the inside of the bezel, securing the display panel.

Push on the display panel slightly along the side near the bottom of the bezel to expose the

display’s metal frame. Insert a black stick between the inside of the bezel and the display’s 
metal frame.  
Slide the black stick around the corner to the bottom edge to begin to separate the adhesive 
10.  
until a putty knife can be inserted behind the black stick.

Insert the putty knife all the way to the bottom of the bezel behind the black stick, and

remove the black stick.  
Hold the putty knife flat square against the bottom of the bezel and push it forward toward 
12.  
to the middle of the bezel, separating the adhesive. Continue to the other side to separate 
the adhesive on the other side.

Perform the same procedure on the bezel’s top two strips of adhesive. Insert the black stick

from the side, move it to the top, insert the putty knife and separate the adhesive on one 
side.
At the middle of the bezel, near the camera, keep the putty knife flat and carefully pass the

camera and board assembly area, then separate the other side.  
 
Warning: Be extremely careful at the center, where the camera and board assembly are 
located. Keep the putty knife flat while passing to the next adhesive strip, or damage 
can result.

Replacement Procedure
Warning: Replacement Display Panels come with a manufacturer matched Display Rear 
Housing—both must be replaced at the same time, or damage can result.
Warning: Do not touch the back of the display panel where it says “Don’t Touch.” And, do 
not put pressure anywhere in the white center area of the back of the display panel. 
If reinstalling the display panel
Leave residual adhesive on the panel’s perimeter frame. Remove any clumps of adhesive.

If installing a replacement display panel
Install the two provided (clear plastic) shims onto the sides of the display panel. Carefully

align the screw holes and apply straight. The straight edge goes on the display screen side 
(shown down here). Do not install if the shims are already installed on the panel.
