While squeezing orange levers R2 and R3 together (1), pull the staple cartridge unit out of the finisher until it stops (2). Note:The staple cartridge unit does not detach from the finisher. 3. Troubleshooting WorkCentre 7755/7765/7775 Multifunction Printer User Guide 169 Control Panel Messages The control panel touch screen provides information and troubleshooting help. When an error or warning condition occurs, the touch screen displays a message. The touch screen may also display an animated graphic showing the location of the problem, such as the location of a paper jam. Problems which prevent the full operation of the printer have associated fault codes. These codes will help pinpoint the specific subsystem with the problem. Current faults and fault history can be retrieved at any time. To see a list of the fault messages that have been displayed on the printer: 1. Press the Machine Status button. 2. Some problems can be resolved by simply restarting the printer. To restart the printer: 1. Locate the power switch on the top of the printer. 2. Turn the switch OFF, wait 2 minutes, then turn the switch back ON. If the problem is not resolved by restarting the printer, see the table in this chapter that best describes the problem. •Printer Does not Turn On on page 170 •Printing Takes Too Long on page 171 •Printer Resets or Turns Off Frequently on page 171 •Printer Is Making Unusual Noises on page 171 •2-Sided Printing Problems on page 171 •Scanner Error on page 172 Printer Does not Turn On Caution:Plug the three-wire cord (with grounding prong) directly into a grounded AC outlet only. Do not use a power strip. If necessary, contact a licensed electrician to install a properly grounded outlet. Probable CausesSolutions The power cord is not correctly plugged into the outlet.Turn off the printer, and plug the power cord securely into the outlet. Something is wrong with the outlet connected to the printer.Plug another electrical appliance into the outlet and see whether it operates properly. Try a different outlet. The power switch is not correctly turned on. Turn the power switch on the top of the printer off, wait two minutes, then turn it back on. Ensure that the main power switch on the rear of the printer is in the on position. The printer is connected to an outlet with a voltage or frequency that does not match the printer specifications.Use a power source with the specifications listed in Electrical Specifications on page 249.
