Electrical Safety
■Use the power cord supplied with your printer.
■Plug the power cord directly into a properly grounded electrical outlet. Make sure each 
end of the cord is securely connected. If you do not know if an outlet is grounded, ask an

1.Turn off the printer immediately.
2.Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet. 
3.Call an authorized service representative to correct the problem.
The power cord is attached to the printer as a plug-in device at the back of the printer. If it is 
necessary to disconnect all electrical power from the printer, disconnect the power cord from 
the electrical outlet.

Printing Safety Guidelines
■Keep hands, hair, neckties, etc., away from the exit and feed rollers.
■Do not remove the paper source tray that you select in either the printer driver or control 
panel.
■Do not open the doors when the printer is printing.

■Use the supplies specifically designed for your printer. The use of unsuitable materials 
may cause poor performance and a possible safety hazard.

Moving the Printer
Follow these guidelines to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the printer:
■Keep the printer level. Tilting the printer can cause the ink to spill inside.
■Use the Shut Down mode on the control panel for best results.
■Always allow the printer to cool before it is moved to avoid ink spills that can damage the 
printer.
Warning: Parts of the printer may be hot. To avoid personal injury or damage to the 
printer, allow 30 minutes for it to cool down before...

■Never move the printer if you receive a Power Down Error-Head not Parked message on 
the control panel. The printer is not ready to be moved. If the printhead is not locked, the 
printer can be damaged during shipment.
