STARPLUS 308EX KEY TELEPHDtiE SYSTEM 100 lNTRODUCTlON 100.1 PURPOSE This manual provides the information necessary to program, install, operate and maintain the STARPLUS 308EX Key Telephone System. 100.2 REGULATORY I~~~~~AT~~~ (FCC) ’ The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) .’ has established rules which allow the direct -1 connection of the STARPLUS 308EX Key Telephone System to the telephone network. Certain actions \must be undertaken or understood before the ionnection of customer provided equipment is ,, completed. 4. TELCO NOTIFICATION Before connecting the 308EX Key Telephone .‘- System to the telephone network, the !ocal telephone company must be given advance ‘notice of intention to use customer provided equipment (CPE) and provided with the following information: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. CHANGES IN SERVICE The serving telephone company may make changes in it’s communications facilities or procedures. If these changes should affect the use of the 308EX or compatibility with the network, the telephone company must give written notice i ,. f to the user to allow uninterrupted service. It has been tested and 1 found to comply With the limtts for a Class A computing device, pursuant to Subpart J of / Part 15 of the FCC Rules, which are desgned to provide reasonable protection against such interference, when operated in a commercial environment. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause interference, $3 4 in which case the user, at his own expense, will be required to take whatever measures may be required to correct the interference.” F. Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to be connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company. The equipment must also be installed using an acceptable me!hod of connection. In some cases, the company’s inside wiring associated I with single line individual service may be ex- tended by means of a certified connector as- sembly (telephone extension cord). The. customer should be awarethat compliance with the above condition may not prevent degrade- tion of service in some situations. Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian mainienance facility designated by the supplier. Any repairs or al- terations made by the userto this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the telecom- munications company cause to request the user to disconnect the equipment. User should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground connections of the power utility. telecommunications lines and internal metallic water pipe system, if preseni. are con- nected together.
