87CompassTools Compass Use the Compass application as you would any compass. The red end of the compass needle indicates magnetic north and the direction that the cover of the phone is facing is indicated below the diall. To use the compass: 1. From a Home screen, press Menu > Tools > Compass. 2. Hold the phone display parallel to the ground and turn slowly the phone until it points to the direction you want. The degree of the direction from magnetic north appears on the screen below the dial. 3. Press Options for calibration. 4. Press Calibration to calibrate the compass. Calibrate the compass by waving the device in a figure 8 motion, as shown on the display screen.
88TasksTools The Tasks option allows you to create a “to do” or task list. To create a Task and add it to the task list: 1. From a Home screen, press Menu > Tools > Tasks. 2. If there are no tasks yet, press Create. If there are tasks listed, then press Options > Create task. The following fields appear: -Subject: Subject or title for this task (up to 100 characters) . -Start date: Date for this task to begin. -Due date: Date for this task to end. -Priority: Assign the task a priority (High, Normal, or Low) . -Alarm: Set an alarm for this event. Press Change to change the status to either On or Off. When enabled (On) , the Alarm time and date field appears. -Alarm time and date: Set the time and date you want the alarm to sound. Only appears if Alarm is set to On. -Details: Detailed description for this task (up to 100 characters) . 3. Press Save to save this new task entry. Ta s k s
89MemoTools Use the Memo tool to create notes to remember. To use the Memo tool: 1. From a Home screen, press Menu > Tools > Memo. If there are no tasks yet, press Create. If there are tasks listed, then press Options > Create memo. 2. Type a memo and press Save to save it. 3. Press Options to display the following options, if any Memos exist: -Create memo: Create a memo. -Send: Send the memo via a multimedia message or via Bluetooth. -Delete: Delete the highlighted memo. -Delete multiple: Select one or more memos to delete. 90CalculatorTools The Calculator provides basic arithmetic functions. This tool lets you use the phone as a calculator. The calculator provides the basic arithmetic functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. 1. From a Home screen, press Menu > Tools > Calculator. 2. Use the numeric keys to enter the first number. 3. Enter the operation for your calculation by pressing the Navigation keys as illustrated on the display. 4. Use the numeric keys to enter the second number. 5. To view the result, press the Centre key. The keys are assigned as follows: • Navigation keys: Arithmetic operators • Centre navigation key : Enter/Calculate • Star key : Decimal • Pound key : Parentheses • Volume keys: Move the cursor across an equation Calculator
91Tip CalculatorTools Use the Tip Calculator to calculate the amount of money to leave as a tip based on parameters such as total bill amount, tip percentage, and number of members in your group. 1. From a Home screen, press Menu > Tools > Tip Calculator and press Select or the Centre key. 2. Enter the values into the appropriate fields by using the numeric keys: -Bill: The total amount of the bill. Note: Press for a decimal point. -Tip (%): The percent that you want to use for the tip. Use the Clear key to clear the field and enter another amount. -Tip ($): The amount of the tip based on the figures entered. -# of ppl: The number of people splitting the bill. -You pay: This is your share of the total check amount. This value is based on the figure entered in the # of ppl field and assumes that the total bill and tip are shared equally. 3. Press Reset to clear all fields and reset to default values. 92Converter Tools The Converter menu provides the following conversion categories: Currency, Length, Weight, Volume, Area, and Temperature. To use the Converter: 1. From a Home screen, press Menu > Tools > Converter. 2. Highlight a Converter function, and press Select or the Centre key. Each converter function has a field for the type of unit to convert (the first Unit field) and a field for the type of unit to convert to (the second Unit field) . An additional field allows you to input the unit amount to convert. 3. Enter an amount in either Unit field, depending on your needs. The unit of conversion displays in the appropriate field. In the case where conversions are not direct, decimal figures display for greater accuracy. To change rate settings for Currency: 1. From a Home screen, press Menu > Tools > Converter > Currency. 2. Press Options > Rate settings > Options. 3. To add a rate, press Add rate, enter the new Unit and Rate and press Save . 4. To delete a rate, press Delete rate . Converter
93World ClockTools World Clock allows you to view the time around the world. It displays time in 30 cities and areas, within all 24 time zones, around the world. To add a new time zone to the World Clock main screen: 1. From a Home screen, press Menu > Tools > World Clock. An entry for your time zone displays major cities or areas in your time zone, time, and date. 2. Press Add to add another time zone to your list. 3. Use the Left or Right Navigation key to highlight the time zone you want to add. Cities or areas in each time zone are displayed as you navigate through the various time zones. 4. Press Add to add the time zone you want. The new time zone is displayed on the World Clock main screen. 5. Press Options on a highlighted time zone for the following options: -Set as home zone: Set the highlighted time zone as your home zone. -Daylight saving on/off: Turn Daylight Saving on or off. -Delete: Remove the time zone. 94TimerTools Use the Timer to set a countdown timer. To enable the Timer, use the following options: 1. From a Home screen, press Menu > Tools > Timer. 2. Begin by setting the length of time. Use the Left or Right Navigation key to highlight the hour, minutes, and seconds. Use the keypad to enter the values. 3. Press Start to start the timer. 4. Press Pause to pause the timer. 5. Press Reset to reset the timer. Timer
95StopwatchTools Use the Stopwatch to measure split and lap times. Up to fifty separate times can be recorded. 1. From a Home screen, press Menu > Tools > Stopwatch. 2. Use the Right and Left Navigation keys to select either Split or Lap modes. Note: Split times are measured from the clock’s start time. Lap times restart the measurement every time a lap is recorded. 3. Press Start to start the stopwatch. 4. Press Split or Lap to record a split or lap time (the option available depends on the mode) . 5. Press Stop to stop the clock. 6. Press Restart to resume from the stopped time. 7.
