VQT0P18 Keep this unit away from magnetised equipment (such as a microwave oven, TV, video game equipment, etc.). ≥If you use this unit on or near a TV, images and sounds may be disturbed due to electromagnetic wave radiation. ≥Do not use near cell phone because doing so may cause noise to adversely affect the picture and sound. ≥Recorded data may be damaged, or images may be distorted by strong magnetic fields created by speakers or large motors. ≥Electromagnetic wave radiation generated by a digital circuit (including a microprocessor) may adversely affect this unit, causing the disturbance of images and sounds. ≥If this unit is affected by magnetically charged equipment and does not function properly, turn this unit off and remove the battery and then connect it again. Thereafter, turn this unit on. Do not use this unit near radio transmitters or high-voltage lines. ≥If you record near radio transmitters or high-voltage lines, recorded images or sounds may be adversely affected. Do not spray insecticides or volatile chemicals onto this unit. ≥If this unit is sprayed with such chemicals, the SD Multi Camera body may be damaged and the surface finish may peel off. ≥Do not keep rubber or plastic products in contact with this unit for a long period of time. When you use this unit on a beach or similar place, do not let sand or fine dust get into this unit. Do not wet this unit with seawater or other liquids. ≥Sand or dust may cause a malfunction of this unit such as scratches or fog on the Lens. ≥If seawater splashes onto this unit, wet a soft cloth with tap water, wring it well, and use it to wipe this unit carefully. Keep the AC adaptor 3.3 ft. (1 m) or more away from the radio. ≥When the AC adaptor is in use, it may generate whirring sounds. However, this is normal. ≥After use, be sure to disconnect the AC adaptor. (If it is left connected, about 0.1 W of current is consumed at most.) ≥Keep the electrodes of the AC adaptor clean at all times. Put this unit near the outlet to make it easy for the interrupting device (plug) to reach it. The AC Adaptor Cautions for Use (continued) VQT0P18Eng.book 86 ページ 2005年1月12日 水曜日 午前9時11分
VQT0P18 Lithium ion battery is a compact and high-capacity battery. However, when the battery is cooled under low temperature (50xF (10xC) or less) such as outside in winter, the available time of the battery becomes shorter and this unit may not work. In this case, warm the battery and insert it into this unit just before you use this unit. (If you use a pocket warmer, do not let the pocket warmer touch the battery.) Be sure to detach the battery after use. ≥If it is left attached to this unit, a minute amount of current is consumed even when this unit is turned off. If it is left for a long time, over discharge takes place. The battery may become unusable even after it is charged. ≥If it is left attached to this unit for a long period of time, self-discharge may take place. Charge the battery before use. Bring spare batteries when you use this unit outdoors. ≥The operating time of the battery may become shorter under low temperature conditions such as outside on a ski hill. ≥When you travel, be sure to prepare the AC adaptor (supplied) to charge the battery on the spot. If the battery is dropped, check that the terminal is not deformed. ≥If the battery attached to this unit with a deformed terminal, it may damage this unit. Cautions for using battery ≥Charge only with specified AC adaptor. ≥Do not dispose of in fire. ≥Do not disassemble. The Battery VQT0P18Eng.book 87 ページ 2005年1月12日 水曜日 午前9時11分
VQT0P18 Cautions to store the battery ≥Store the battery in a cool and dry place with a relatively stable temperature. (Recommendable temperature: 59oF–77oF (15oC– 25oC) Recommendable humidity: 40%–60%) ≥Extremely high or low temperatures will shorten the life of the battery. ≥If the battery is kept in hot, humid, smoky or dusty places, the terminals may rust and cause malfunctions. ≥To store the battery for a long period of time, we recommend charging it once every year and storing it again after you completely use up the charged capacity. ≥Remove dusts from the terminal of the battery. Do not throw unnecessary (expired) batteries into a fire. ≥If you heat or burn the battery, it may cause an explosion. ≥The battery has a limited life. When the operating time of the SD Multi Camera becomes extremely short even if the battery is properly charged, the life of the battery may have expired. Buy a new battery. When the charge lamp blinks quicker or slower, the following conditions are possible. When the charge lamp blinks approx. every 6 seconds (lighting approx. 3 seconds, turning off approx. 3 seconds): ≥The battery is excessively discharged. You can charge the battery, however, it may take several hours to start charging the battery normally. Charging Error Cautions for Use (continued) VQT0P18Eng.book 88 ページ 2005年1月12日 水曜日 午前9時11分
VQT0P18 When the charge lamp blinks approx. every 0.5 second (lighting approx. 0.25 second, turning off approx. 0.25 second): ≥The room or the battery temperature is extremely high or low. Wait until the room or the battery temperature becomes adequate and then recharge the battery. If you still cannot charge the battery, there may be a defect with this unit, the battery or the AC adaptor. Consult the dealer. When the charge lamp turns off: ≥Charging is completed. ≥If the charge lamp turns off though the battery is not completely charged, the AC adaptor or the battery may be defective. Consult the dealer. ≥For details about the battery, refer to P87. ≥If moisture forms on the outside of the unit, it is called “condensation”. ≥When condensation takes place, the Lens may be fogged or this unit may not operate normally. Be careful to avoid condensation and take proper measures when condensation occurs. Causes of condensation ≥Condensation takes place when the ambient temperature or humidity is changed as follows: When this unit is moved from cold weather outside to a warm room When this unit is brought out of an air-conditioned car When a cold room is suddenly warmed When cool wind from an air conditioner or other is directly blown onto this unit In humid places Condensation VQT0P18Eng.book 89 ページ 2005年1月12日 水曜日 午前9時11分
VQT0P18 When condensation has taken place ≥Turn this unit off and leave this unit in this condition for about 1 hour. When this unit becomes close to the ambient temperature, the condensation disappears naturally. ≥When you move this unit from a cold place to a hot place, put the camera into a plastic bag and then take it out after the temperature of this unit becomes close to the ambient temperature to avoid condensation. ≥In a place with drastic temperature changes, condensation may form on the LCD Monitor. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. ≥Do not press the LCD Monitor strongly. It may cause uneven colors on the LCD Monitor or a malfunction of the LCD Monitor. Do not touch the LCD Monitor with a hard object. It causes scratches on the surface of the LCD Monitor. ≥When the Lens is aimed at a high contrast subject, the picture may look uneven or after images may appear on the LCD Monitor. This is not a malfunction. ≥If the SD Multi Camera is extremely cold when you turn it on, the image on the LCD Monitor is slightly darker than usual. However, as the internal temperature increases, it goes back to the normal brightness. LCD Monitor Extremely high precision technology is employed to produce the LCD Monitor screen featuring a total of approximately 61,600 pixels. The result is more than 99.99% effective pixels with a mere 0.01% of the pixels inactive or always lit. However, this is not a malfunction and does not affect the recorded picture.
