≥If you press any button while the screen saver is displayed, the mode
is set to the virtual still picture recording mode.
≥You can simulate recording of still pictures in the virtual still picture
recording mode. (If you do not press any button for about 1 minute,
    the screen saver starts.)
≥If you do not press any button in the screen saver for about 5 minutes
when the AC adaptor is not used, this unit automatically turns off.
≥When canceling the demonstration mode, insert a card after turning

    The color or the
    brightness of the
    LCD Monitor
changes. The color or the brightness of the screen may look
    different under fluorescent light.
    The LCD Monitor is
too bright or dark.Adjust the brightness of the LCD Monitor properly.
    (P23)
    Cannot record.Is the card inserted?

switch on the card is slid toward [LOCK].
Is the memory of the card full?

    It takes time to
record onto a card. When you record pictures in [MPEG4] mode, it may
take time to record onto a card depending on the
type of card. However, this is not a malfunction.

halfway.Recording in [Voice] mode may be stopped halfway
depending on the type of card.
    Recorded pictures
    appear in mosaic-
like pattern.Pictures may appear in a mosaic-like pattern
depending on the subject or recording conditions.
    The pictures
    recorded are too
bright or dark. The brightness of a picture on the LCD Monitor may
be different from that of a picture actually recorded.
Especially when you record a picture in dark places
with long exposure, the picture looks dark on the
LCD Monitor. However, the picture is recorded
    brightly.
    A vertical red
    spectrum appears
on the LCD Monitor. This is called “smear”. It is specific to CCD, not a
malfunction. It appears when the subject has a
bright part. It is recorded on MPEG4 images, but not
    recorded on still pictures.

    QuestionAnswer
    The flash cannot be
activated. Is the flash set to [Flash off]? Check the flash mode.
    (P36)
    The pictures
    recorded with a
flash are dark.Is the flash covered with your finger? Is this unit too
    far away from the subject?
    The colors of the
    picture recorded
    with the flash are
    not similar to the
subject in real life. When you record pictures with the flash, the white
balance may not be properly adjusted even if the
white balance is set in [Manual]. When you use the
flash, we recommend setting the white balance to
    [Auto].
When you record pictures with the flash, the white
balance is automatically adjusted according to the
flash light. However, the white balance may not be
properly adjusted when the flash light does not
    adequately illuminate the subject.
    Cannot play.Is the card inserted?
Are there playable pictures on the card?
Is the mode set to the playback mode?
    Some pictures

a slide show.Pictures recorded with other equipment may not be
displayed as a slide show or may take time to be
    displayed.
Cannot play music. Is there an effective music file on the card?
    [t] Indication is
    displayed during
    playback or in the
list screen. The data was either recorded in a different format or
damaged. Such data cannot be played.
    Cannot play when
    the card is inserted
    into other
equipment. If [MPEG4] files recorded with this unit are played
on other equipment, the picture quality or the sound
quality may be deteriorated or the files may not be
    readable.
