    Ink film – installing / replacing!

    Open the front cover by pulling up the center
    part.
    lIf the handset is on the cradle, take it off
    before opening the cover.

    lIf you are installing the included ink film for
    the first time, skip to step 6.Back cover
    Install the included ink film or replace the used ink film with new one. 
    The following ink films are available for replacement.
    Model No. KX-FA53:Replacement film (1 roll)
    Model No. KX-FA55:Replacement film (2 rolls)
    Each roll prints about 150 letter-size pages. See page 8 for accessory information.

    Pull out the blue gear and remove the used
    ink film. Remove the used core.

    Turn the “T” shaped gear (blue) in the
    direction of the arrow. 
    lMake sure that the ink film is 
    wrapped around the blue core 
    at least once.

    rub off on your hands like carbon paper.

    down on the dotted area at both ends ().

    ink film. Find the “T” shaped gear (blue).

    Insert tabs on the paper tray into slits on the back of the unit.
    Note:
    lDo not place the unit in areas where the paper tray may be obstructed by a wall, etc.

    KX-FA50C (p. 8) and install as shown above.

    lower slot.

    Recording paper!
    Note for recording paper:
    lAvoid using paper with a cotton and/or fiber content that is over 20%, such as letterhead paper or
    paper used for resumes.
    lDo not use different types or thicknesses of paper at the same time. This may cause a paper jam.
    lAvoid extremely smooth or shiny paper that is highly textured. 
    lAvoid paper that is coated, damaged or wrinkled.
    Note:
    lAvoid double-sided printing.
    lDo not use paper printed from this unit for double-sided printing with other copiers or printers, or the
    paper may jam.
    lSome paper only accepts print on one side. Try using the other side of paper if you are not happy with
    the print quality.

    lIf the paper is not inserted correctly,
    readjust the paper, or the paper may jam.

    1.Pull the tension bar forward and hold open while
    removing all of the installed paper.
    2.Add paper to the removed paper and straighten.
    3.Fan the stack of paper.
    4.Pull the tension bar forward and hold open while
    inserting the paper.

    Letter, legal or A4 size recording paper can be loaded. The unit can hold up to 50 sheets of 
    60 g/m2to 75 g/m2(16 lb. to 20 lb.) paper or 30 sheets of 90 g/m2(24 lb.) paper.
    For best results, only use inkjet paper such as HammermillJet Print. If you use other
    types of paper, the print quality may be affected.
    – To use legal size paper, please install an optional legal paper tray, Model No. KX-FA50C 
    (p. 8, 14).

    To use the fax machine with a computer on the same line
    l We recommend you use separate wall jacks for the fax machine and the computer.
    l Set the fax machine to TELmode (p. 44).
    l The device which has the shortest ring setting will answer the call first.
    l If the computer provides a port for telephone line, connect the fax machine to the port on the computer.
