    This is for reducing the wind noise coming into the built-in microphones.
    ≥This function’s default setting is [ (ON)].
    ≥ You may not see the full effect depending on the recording conditions.
    This setting registers the functions (shortcut functions) performed when 
    the SET button is tipped up, down, left and right with the recording screen 
    displayed.
    1 Select the destination (up, down, left or right on the SET button) 
    for the function using the SET button and press the SET button.
    2 Select the function to register using the SET button, and press 
    the SET button.

    ≥ A confirmation screen for the shortcut 
    settings appears.
    4 Press the MENU button to complete 
    the settings.
    5 Tilt the SET button in the direction in 
    which you registered the function.
    ≥ Each tip of the SET button changes the registered function setting.
    ≥To confirm the shortcut settings, press the MENU button on the screen 
    in Step 1. A confirmation screen appears.
    (AF LOCK):
    Locks the focus. ( l11 3 )

    AF lock
    If you register AF lock as a shortcut function ( l111 ), you can record with 
    the focus locked.
    ≥ Register the shortcut function. ( l111 )
    Tilt the SET button in the direction to which you registered AF lock.
    ≥  will appear on the LCD monitor.
    ≥ When [FOCUS] is set to   (MANUAL), AF Lock is disabled.
    ≥ The AF lock setting is canceled if any of the following operations are 
    performed.

    White Balance
    Automatic White Balance function may not reproduce natural colors 
    depending on the scenes or lighting conditions. If so, you can adjust the 
    White Balance manually.
    1Select the menu.
    2Select the White Balance using the SET button, and 
    press the SET button.
    ≥To return to auto setting, select   (AUTO).
    Advanced (Recording)
    Manual recording
    [MENU]:   # [WHITE BALANCE]
     (AUTO):The unit adjusts the White Balance 
    automatically.
     (SUNNY):Outdoors under a clear sky
     (CLOUDY):Outdoors under cloudy sky
     (INDOOR 1):Incandescent light, video lights like in the 
    studio, etc.
     (INDOOR 2):Color fluorescent lamps, sodium lamps in 
    gymnasiums, etc.
     (WHITE SET):≥Mercury-vapor lamps, sodium lamps, 
    some fluorescent lights
    ≥ Lights used for wedding receptions at 
    hotels, stage spotlights in theaters
    ≥ Sunrise, sunset, etc.

    To set the White Balance manually
    1 Point the unit at a white subject that fills the screen.
    2 Select the   (WHITE SET) and press the SET button.
    ≥ The LCD monitor display will go dark for a moment and then return to 
    the recording menu. When the   icon appears on the recording 
    menu, the White Balance has been set.
    ≥When the brightness changes or the recording location changes and 
    the color balance is no longer correct, check whether the White 
    Balance setting is suitable for the light source.
    ≥ [SCENE MODE] will be set to   (OFF) when the [WHITE BALANCE] 
    is set to other than   (AUTO) while the [SCENE MODE] ( l97) is set 
    to  (BEACH),  (SUNSET), or  (FIREWORKS).

    Manual shutter speed/iris adjustment 
    [HX-WA30]
    Shutter speed:
    Adjust it when recording fast-moving subjects.
    Iris:
    Adjust it when the screen is too bright or too dark.
    1Select the menu.
    2Select an Exposure Mode using the SET button and 
    press the SET button.

    Tilt the SET button left or right to set.
    (On selecting   (MANUAL))
    Tilt the SET button up/down to select shutter speed 
    or iris value, and tilt left and right to set.

     (PROGRAM):Exposure is set automatically.
     (SHUTTER):Set the shutter speed.
     (APERTURE):Set the iris value.
     (MANUAL):Set the shutter speed and the iris value.

    ≥ Value closer to F8.0 darken the image.
    ≥ Value closer to F2.8 brighten the image.
    B 1/250: Shutter speed:
    2 (2 seconds) to 1/1000 (1/1000 second)
    ≥ The shutter speed closer to 1/1000 is faster.
    ≥ To restore automatic settings, press the   button.
    ≥When setting both the shutter speed and the iris value, set the shutter 
    speed and then set the iris value.
    ≥ When   (SHUTTER),   (APERTURE) or   (MANUAL) are set, 
    the following functions are disabled and cannot be used.
    j[PANORAMA], [SCENE MODE],  (HDR Paint (HDRP)) in 
    [CREATIVE CONTROL] and Slow Motion Mode
    ≥ When you allocate a shortcut function ( l111 ) to the SET button with 
     (SHUTTER),   (APERTURE) or   (MANUAL) set, you can 
    change the   (SHUTTER),   (APERTURE) or   (MANUAL) 
    setting from the recording screen.

    Manual shutter speed adjustment
    ≥When recording with a slow shutter speed, attach the unit to a tripod 
    etc. to prevent camera shake.
    ≥ You may see a band of light around an object that is shining very 
    brightly, or is highly reflective.
    ≥ During normal playback, image movement may not look smooth.
    ≥ If you record an extremely bright object or record under indoor lighting, 
    color and screen brightness may change or a horizontal line may 
    appear on the screen. In this case, record in the Intelligent Auto Mode 
    or set the shutter speed to 1/60 in areas where the power supply 
    frequency is 60 Hz, or 1/100 in areas of 50 Hz.
    ≥ With a slow shutter speed, you can record in darker locations but may 
    find that noise increases in the recorded images.
    ≥ With burst recording, the shutter speed is faster than 1/30.
    ≥ With motion picture recording, the shutter speed will be automatically 
    set to 1/30 if you set it to a value less than 1/30.
    Manual iris adjustment
    ≥ Depending on the zoom magnification, there are iris values that are not 
    displayed.

    Setting the focus and recording
    Set the focus in accordance with the distance to the subject.
    1Select the menu.
    2Select the item to set using the SET button and press 
    the SET button.
    ∫ Using Manual Focus
    1 Select   (MANUAL) and press the 
    SET button.
    ≥ The bar for setting the focus appears.
    2 Tilt the SET button left or right to set 
    the focus, and press the SET button.
    ≥ Set the focus and return to the recording 
    screen.
    ≥When focus is set to   (MANUAL) or   (MACRO), the 
    [PANORAMA] and [SCENE MODE] functions are set to   (OFF).
    ≥ When you set the focus to   (MACRO), start with the zoom set to 
    Wide (W).
    ≥ If you register a shortcut function ( l111 ) to the SET button, you can 
    change the focus setting from the recording screen.
    ≥ In certain cases, it may be difficult to achieve focus automatically.
    [MENU]:  
    # [FOCUS]  # desired setting
     (AUTO):The focus is set automatically.
     (MANUAL):Adjusts the focus manually when it is difficult 
    to achieve focus automatically.
     (MACRO):Select when recording a subject from close 
    range.
