    Intelligent Auto
    The following modes (appropriate for the condition) are set just by pointing the unit to what you want 
    to record.
    *1 In Motion Picture Recording Mode only
    *2 In Still Picture Recording Mode only
    ≥ Depending on the recording conditions, the unit may not enter t he desired mode.
    ≥ In the Portrait, Spotlight, or Low Light Mode, the face will be  surrounded by a white frame when 
    detected. In the Portrait Mode, a  subject that is bigger and close to center of the screen will be 
    surrounded by an orange frame. ( l64)
    ≥ Using a tripod is recommended in Night Scenery Mode.
    ≥ Faces cannot be detected depending on the recording conditions,  such as when faces are of 
    certain sizes or at certain tilts or when digital zoom is used.
    ModeEffect
    Portrait Faces are detected and focused automatically, and the brightnes s is 
    adjusted so it is recorded clearly.
    Scenery The whole landscape will be recorded vividly without whiting ou t the 
    background sky, which may be very bright.
    *1Spotlight Very bright object is recorded clearly.*1Low LightIt can record very clearly even in a dark room or twilight.*2Night SceneryYou can record night scenery vividly by slowing the shutter spe ed.*2MacroThis allows recording at very close proximity to the object of recording.*1

    Intelligent Auto Mode
    When switching to Intelligent Auto Mode, the Automatic White Ba lance and Auto Focus operate and 
    automatically adjust the color balance and focusing.
    Depending on the brightness of the subject etc., the aperture a nd shutter speed are automatically 
    adjusted for an optimum brightness.
    ≥ Color balance and focus may not be adjusted automatically depen ding on light sources or 
    scenes. If so, manually adjust these settings. ( l50, 52 )
    Automatic White BalanceThe illustration shows the range over which Automatic White Bal ance functions.
    1) The effective range of Automatic White Balance adjustment  on this unit
    2) Blue sky
    3) Cloudy sky (rain)
    4) Sunlight
    5) White fluorescent lamp
    6) Halogen light bulb
    7) Incandescent light bulb
    8) Sunrise or sunset
    9) Candlelight
    If the Automatic White Balance is not functioning normally, adj ust 
    the White Balance manually. ( l50)
    Auto FocusThe unit focuses automatically.
    ≥Auto Focus does not work correctly in the following situations.  
    Record pictures in the Manual Focus Mode. ( l52)
    j Recording distant and close-up objects at the same time
    j Recording a subject behind dirty or dusty window
    j Recording a subject that is surr ounded by objects with glossy s urfaces or by highly reflective 
    objects

    [Miniature Effect] You can record motion pictures with a diorama effect like recor
    ding a 
    miniature by intentionally creating focused area and out of foc used 
    area in the peripheral of the image and recording motion pictur e with 
    an interval. ( l44)
    ≥ Motion pictures recorded with this function will look as if the  frame 
    rate is low.
    [8mm movie] You can record motion pictures with a faded retro effect. (l 45)
    [Silent movie] You can record motion pictures
     that are similar to black-and-wh ite 
    silent films by lowering the amount of incoming light. (l 45)
    [Time Lapse Rec] You can record a scene that moves slowly over a long period of 
    time 
    as a short time motion picture by recording one frame at each s et 
    time lapse. ( l46)

    the in-focus portion.
    ≥If you touch the screen, you can adjust the horizontal 
    position of the in-focus portion.
    ≥ When no touch operations are performed for approximately 
    1 second, [Reset], [SIZE], and [ENTER] are displayed. If 
    you touch the screen, you can readjust the horizontal 
    position of the in-focus portion.
    ≥ Position of the in-focus portion will return to original positi on when you touch [Reset].

    jThe shutter speed is 1/2 or more in Still Picture Recording Mod e.
    j Using a tripod is recommended.
    Endless Loop Recording
    ≥Insert an SD card.
    ≥ Change the Recording Mode to  . ( l40)
    1 Select sound in loop recording setting.
    2 Start recording.
    ≥Once you start recording, the scene will be automatically divid ed every 2 minutes. The divided 
    scenes will be saved in the SD card. (Each time you use Endless  Loop Recording, a set of up to 
    30 scenes will be saved.)
    ≥ When the period between the time you start recording and the ti me you stop recording is longer 
    than 1 hour (approximate), only the last 1 hour (approximate) par t up to the end of the recording 
    will be saved. The part before the 1 hour part will be deleted.
    ≥ Recording stops automatically when approximately 24 hours have  passed since the start of the 
    recording.
    ≥ During recording, the   blinks.
    ≥ The remaining recordable time and elapsed recording time are no t displayed. (l21)
    ≥ Only when sound in loop recordi ng is set to [ON],   (microphone  input level meter) is 
    displayed.
    To switch sound in loop recordingThe menu can be set to switch to sound in loop recording.
    ≥ Still pictures cannot be taken.
    ≥ [REC FORMAT] is set to [MP4/iFrame], and [REC MODE] is set to [720].
    ≥ Image Stabilizer Function is set to   (setting canceled) and Lev el Shot Function is set to off.
    ≥ Endless Loop Recording is not possible in the following cases:
    jWhen the SD card is not inserted
    j When the approximate remaining recordable time on the SD card i s less than 1 hour
    (The time between R 0h00m and R 0h59m flashes red.)
    ≥ Since each set of loop-recorded scenes is displayed separately  on the date list, it is convenient to 
    play back loop-recorded scenes by date. (l 75)
    (The date displayed on the date list will be the one on which y ou started Endless Loop 
    Recording.)

    White Balance
    Automatic White Balance function may not reproduce natural colors depending on the scenes or 
    lighting conditions. If so, you can adjust the White Balance ma nually.

    ≥When the screen turns black instantly and the   display 
    stops flashing and then lights constantly, the setting is 
    complete.
    ≥ If the   display continues flashing, the White Balance 
    cannot be set. In this case, use other White Balance Modes.
    ≥If you turn on the unit with the lens cover closed, the Auto Wh ite Balance will not be performed 
    correctly. Always open the lens cover before turning on the uni t.
    ≥ When the   display flashes, the Manual White Balance previously  adjusted is stored. 
    Whenever recording conditions change, re-set the White Balance.
    ≥ When setting both the White Balance and the iris/gain, set the  White Balance first.
