    Dividing a scene (AVCHD)
    It is possible to divide an AVCHD scene. 
    Any unwanted parts in the scene can be deleted after dividing.
    ≥Press the recording/playback button to switch this unit to the Playback Mode, and touch 
    the play mode select icon. Then, select the AVCHD scene. ( l25)
    1Select the menu.
    2Touch and play back the scene you want to divide.≥It is convenient to use Slow-motion Playback and Frame-by-frame  Playback. (l71)
    3Touch   to set the dividing point.≥Touch [YES].
    ≥ Touch [YES] to continue dividing the same scene. To continue 
    dividing other scenes, touch [NO] and repeat Steps 2-3.
    4Touch [Return] to complete dividing.≥Unwanted parts can be deleted. ( l88)
    To delete all the divided points
    ≥The scenes that were deleted after division cannot be recovered .
    ≥You cannot divide a scene if the number of scenes of a given date would exceed 99 scenes.
    ≥ It may not be possible to divide scenes with a short recording  time.
    ≥ Data that has been recorded or edited on another device cannot be divided and the divided points

    Dividing a scene to partially delete (MP4/iFrame)
    Divide the MP4/iFrame scenes, and delete unnecessary parts.
    This divides the recorded scenes in two and deletes the front half or back half.
    The scenes deleted by dividing cannot be restored.
    ≥ Press the recording/playback button to switch this unit to the Playback Mode, and touch 
    the play mode select icon. Then, select the MP4/iFrame scene. ( l25)
    1Select the menu.
    2Touch and play back the scene you want to divide.≥It is convenient to use Slow-motion Playback and Frame-by-frame  Playback. (l71)
    3Touch   to set the dividing point.≥Set the dividing point so there will be 2 seconds or more for t he 
    part for deletion, and 3 seconds or more for the part to be kep t.
    4Touch the part for deletion.
    5Touch [YES] and confirm (play back) the part for 
    deletion.
    ≥A confirmation message appears when [NO] is touched. Proceed to  Step 7.
    6Stop the playback.≥A confirmation message appears.
    7Touch [YES].≥To continue dividing and deleting other scenes, repeat Steps 2- 7.To complete editingTouch [Return].
    ≥It may not be possible to divide scenes with a short recording  time.
    ≥ The actual division may slightly slip off the previously design ated dividing point.

    Protecting scenes/still pictures
    Scenes/still pictures can be protected so that they are not deleted by mistake.
    (Even if you protect some scenes/still pictures, formatting the  media will delete them.)
    ≥ Press the recording/playback button to switch this unit to the  Playback Mode.
    1Select the menu.
    * [TRANSFER/PROTECT] is displayed when using the Eye-Fi card tha t is set as the selected 
    transfer setting device in advance on the computer.
    2Touch the scene/still picture to be protected.≥ When touched, the scene/still picture is selected and the   indi cation appears on the 
    thumbnail. Touch the scene/still picture again to cancel the op eration.
    ≥ Touch [Return] to complete the settings. : [VIDEO SETUP] or [PICT. SETUP]

    Before copying, convert AVCHD or MP4 scenes to those with the image quality (MP4 (1280k720/
    30p) or MP4 (640 k360/30p)) that supports playback on a PC or uploading on the in ternet.
    ≥ Scenes recorded in iFrame or saved as MP4 (640 k360/30p) cannot be converted to MP4.
    1Select the menu.
    2Touch the scene you want to convert.≥ The scene selection is made as you touch it, and the   indicatio n appears on the thumbnail. To 
    cancel the operation, touch the scene again.
    ≥ You can select up to 99 scenes in succession.
    3Touch [Enter].
    4Select the quality after conversion.
    ≥MP4 scenes after conversion are saved to the same media as the scenes before conversion.
    5Touch [YES].≥To continue converting scenes to MP4, repeat steps 2 to 5.
    To stop converting to MP4 halfwayTouch [CANCEL] during format conversion.
    To exit the MP4 conversionTouch [Return].
    ≥A scene recorded over a long time may take time.
    ≥ When converting and copying the scenes recorded in AVCHD to an  MP4 scene, the scene 
    exceeding approximately 20 minutes is automatically divided.
    ≥ If you convert protected scenes to MP4, their protection will b e cleared after the conversion.

    ≥Use the HDMI mini cable (supplied).
    ≥ HDMI is the interface for digital devices. If you connect this  unit to a HDMI compatible high-
    definition TV and then play bac k the recorded high-definition images, you can enjoy them in high 
    resolution with high quality sound.
    1Connect this unit to a TV.
    ≥ Check that the plugs are inserted as far as they go.
    ≥ Always use the supplied HDMI mini cable or a genuine Panasonic  HDMI mini cable 
    (RP-CDHM15, RP-CDHM30: optional).

    2Select the video input on the TV.≥Example:
    Select the [HDMI] channel with a HDMI mini cable.
    Select the [Video 2] channel with a Composite video cable.
    (The name of the channel may differ depending on the connected  TV.)
    ≥ Check the input setting (input switch) and the audio input sett ing on the TV. (For more 
    information, please read the operating instructions for the TV. )
    3Change the mode to   to play back.
    ≥When this unit and the TV are connected with the HDMI mini cabl e (supplied) or a Composite 
    video cable (commercially-available) in any of the following si tuations, no image will be displayed 
    on the TV. Use LCD monitor of this unit.

    j When saving the Highlight Playback scene or a manually edited s cene
    j When copying/performing [CONVERT TO MP4]
    ≥ If you connect this unit to the TV when this unit is set to Rec ording Mode, a squealing sound
    * may 
    be output. Before connecting this unit, set it to Playback Mode .
    * The microphone may pick up the sound from the speakers, produc ing an abnormal sound.
    ≥ When connected to the TV, sound in Playback Mode is not output  from this unit. Also, since the 
    volume cannot be adjusted with this unit, adjust the volume of  the TV.
    ≥ Some screens, such as the menu screen, may be displayed in redu ced sizes on the TV.
    ≥ Image and audio is not output from this unit while using the Wi -Fi function.

    When the menu setting is changed, the 
    information displayed on the screen (operation 
    icon etc.) can be displayed/not displayed on the 
    TV.
    * This setting is only available in Motion Picture 
    Recording Mode or Still Picture Recording 
    Mode.
    Connecting with a HDMI mini cable
    Select the desired method of HDMI output.
    ≥[AUTO] determines the output resolution automatically based on  information from the connected 
    TV.
    If the images are not output on the TV when the setting is [AUT O], switch to the method [1080p], 
    [1080i] or [480p] which enables the images to be displayed on your TV. (Please read the 
    operating instructions for the TV.)
    ≥ Images may not be displayed on the television for several secon ds in some cases, such as when

    Playback using VIERA Link
    What is the VIERA Link (HDAVI Control™)?
    ≥ VIERA Link™ is a new name for EZ Sync™.
    ≥ This function allows you to use your remote control for the Pan asonic TV for easy operations 
    when this unit has been connected to a VIERA Link compatible dev ice using a HDMI mini 
    cable (supplied) for automatic linked operations. (Not all oper ations are possible.)
    ≥ VIERA Link is a unique Panasonic function built on a HDMI contro l function using the standard 
    HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) specification. Linked o perations with HDMI CEC 
    compatible devices made by other companies are not guaranteed.
    When using devices made by other companies that are compatible with VIERA Link, refer to 
    the operating instructions for the respective devices.
    ≥ This unit supports “VIERA Link Ver.5” function. “VIERA Link Ver.5 ” is the standard for 
    Panasonic’s VIERA Link compatible equipment. This standard is co mpatible with Panasonic’s 
    conventional VIERA Link equipment.

    3Operate with the remote control for the TV.≥You can select the scene or picture you want to play back by pr essing the button up, down, left or 
    right, and then the button in the center.

    The following operations are available by pressing the color bu ttons on the remote control.
    ∫Other linked operations
    Turning the unit off:
    If you use the remote control for the TV to turn off the power,  this unit also turns off.
    Automatic input switching:
    If you connect with a HDMI mini cable and then turn on this uni t, the input channel on the TV 
    automatically switches to this unit’s screen. If the TV’s power  is in standby status, it will turn on 
    automatically (if [Set] has been selected for the TV’s [Power o n link] setting).
    ≥ Depending on the HDMI terminal on the TV, the input channel may  not switch automatically. In 
    this case, use the remote control for the TV to switch the inpu t channel.
    ≥If you are unsure whether or not the TV and AV amplifier you ar e using are compatible with 
    VIERA Link, read the operating instructions for the devices.
    ≥ Available linked operations between this unit and a Panasonic T V is different depending on the 
    types of Panasonic TVs even if they are compatible with VIERA Li nk. Refer to the operating 
    instructions of the TV for the operations that support on the T V.
    ≥ Operation is not possible with a cable that is not based on the  HDMI standard.

    ≥In this Owner’s Manual, “USB hard  disk drive” is indicated as “USB HDD”.
    If you connect a USB HDD (commercially-available) to this unit  by using a USB Connection Cable 
    (commercially-available), you can copy motion pictures and still pictures recorded on this unit to a 
    USB HDD.
    It can also play back the scenes and still pictures copied to t he USB HDD.
    ≥ You can copy scenes and still pictures recorded with this unit  while maintaining the image quality.
    ≥ Please read the operating instructions of the USB HDD for how t o use it.
    Preparing for copying/playing back
    ≥In the following cases, a USB HDD cannot be used by connecting  it to this unit:
    j A USB HDD with a capacity of below 160 GB or above 2 TB
    j When a USB HDD has two or more partitions
    j If a USB HDD is in a format other than FAT32
    j When connected by using a USB hub
    A USB Connection Cable (commercially-available)
    B USB HDD (commercially-available)
    C Turn the side with the symbol up to connect the micro A end of the USB Connection Cable to 
    the USB terminal of this unit.
    ≥ Connect this unit to the AC adaptor
    1(When using a desktop HDD)Connect the AC adaptor (supplied with USB HDD) to the USB HDD.≥If you are using a bus-powered or portable USB HDD, this unit c an supply power to the USB HDD 
    by USB Connection Cable (commercially-available).

    When the USB HDD that requires formatting is connected, a messa ge is displayed. Follow the 
    instructions on the screen to format it.
    Once the USB HDD has been formatted, all data stored on it will  be deleted. The data cannot be 
    recovered.
