42 OPERATING PROCEDURES Controlling Video Inputs & Monitors Operations on the front panel can control video inputs on the spot monitor or multiscreen monitor. On the Spot Monitor Selecting the Spot Monitor 1. Press the [SPOT/MULTI] button to turn the LED in the button on. The spot monitor is ready to be operated. 2. Built-in Motion Detector The recorder detects motion for each of the eight video inputs, based on certain changes in the video signal. 45 Monitor Display There are two monitoring modes, alarm associated (SPOT) mode and alarm ignore (OFF) mode, depending on the selection for MONITOR MODE in the ALARM SETUP menu. 46 External Reset The activated alarm event except video motion detection, is reset when the recorder receives an external reset signal from the connected device via the REMOTE/ALARM con- nector on the rear panel. 48 Alarm Recording Alarm recording starts when an externally connected sen- sor is turned on, the built-in VMD (Video Motion Detector) or the built-in video loss detection is activated. Alarm recording will proceed, then stop when the post- recording time has elapsed. If more than one alarm arise, for instance ALM1 and ALM2, the images of the alarmed inputs are recorded on the disk as shown in the figure.
