Description Field These settings are disabled because they do not apply to a VDSL connection. Multiplexing Method VPI VCI Select the Use VLANID check box and enter the VLAN ID, as indicated by your ISP . A VLAN ID might be required if you subscribe to both Internet service and IPTV service. In some unusual situations, a VLAN ID is required for VDSL Internet service. If your ISP did not provide you with a VLAN ID, leave the Use VLANID check box cleared, which is the def ault setting. Use VLANID If your ISP provided you with a VLAN ID and a priority value, enter the priority value, which is a number from 0 to 7. You can enter a priority value only in combination with a VLAN ID. If your ISP did not provide you with a priority value, leave the default setting (0). Priority (0 ~ 7) This setting is an option that applies to the IPTV interface only. For information about configuring bridge mode, see Enable Bridge Mode for IPTV De vices on page 202. Br idge Mode Enter the account name, as indicated by your ISP. This name might also be called the host name. If your ISP did not provide you with an account name or host name, leave the default setting. Account Name Enter the domain name, as indicated by your ISP. If your ISP did not provide you with a domain name, leave this field blank. Domain Name Internet IP Address or IPTV IP Address (depending on your selection in Step 7) Y our ISP uses DHCP to assign your IP address. Your ISP automatically assigns these addresses. Description Field Your ISP uses DHCP to assign your DNS servers. Your ISP automatically assigns this address. Get Automatically from ISP If you know that your ISP does not automatically transmit DNS addresses to the modem router during login, select this option and enter the IP address of your ISP pr imary DNS server. If a secondary DNS server address is available, enter it also. Use These DNS Servers NAT (Network Address Translation) NAT allows computers on your home network to share the modem router Internet connection. NAT is enabled by default because it is required in most situations . Select the NAT setting: • Enable. NAT is enabled. This is the default setting. Leave this setting if no reason to disable NAT exists. • Disab le. NAT is disabled. Router MA C Address The Ethernet MAC address that the modem router uses on the Internet port. Some ISPs register the MAC address of the netw ork interface card in your computer when your account is first opened. They accept traffic only from the MAC address of that computer. This feature allows your modem router to use your computer’s MAC address (also called cloning). Use the default MAC address. Use Default Address The modem router captures and uses the MAC address of the computer that you are no w using. You must use the one computer that is registered by the ISP. Use Computer MAC Address Enter the MAC address that you want to use. By default, the field displays the MAC address of the Internet port. Use This MAC Address DHCP Options Enter the vendor class identifier (VCI) string, as indicated by your ISP. If your ISP did not provide you with a VCI string, leave this field blank. Vendor Class Identifier String (option 60) Enter the client identifier (client ID) string, as indicated by your ISP. If your ISP did not provide you with a client ID string, leave this field blank. Specify a VDSL Connection With a Login Requirement and PPPoE Service If you want to manually configure the VDSL connection settings, use the information that your ISP gave you to log in and connect to your Internet service. If you cannot find this information, contact your ISP. Entering incorrect information might prevent the modem router from connecting to the Internet. The modem router pro vides a virtual Internet interface and a virtual IPTV interface. In most situations, you only need to configure the Internet interface. If you use one or more IPTV devices, you might also need to configure the IPTV interface. Follow the directions that your ISP gave you. If you must configure the IPTV interface, first use the following procedure to configure the Internet interface. Then, repeat the procedure to configure the IPTV interface. Note To view or specify the settings for a VDSL Internet connection that requires a login and uses a PPPoE service: 1. Launch a web browser from a computer or WiFi device that is connected to the network. 2. Enter http://www.routerlogin.net. A login window opens. 3. Enter the modem router user name and password. The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive. The BASIC Home page displays. 4. Select Internet. The Inter net Setup page displays. 5. From the Select Country menu, select the country in which you use the modem router. The Select Country menu is not available in all countries and might be masked out. 6. F rom the Select Internet Service Provider menu, select the Internet service provider (ISP) that you are using. If your ISP is not in the menu, select Other. 7. 8. From the Transfer Mode menu, select VDSL(PTM). When y ou select VDSL(PTM) from the Transfer Mode menu, the only option in the DSL Mode menu is VDSL2. 9. Specify that your ISP requires you to log in: •If you are configuring the Internet interface, scroll down to the Does your Internet connection require a login? section and select the Yes radio button. • If y ou are configuring the IPTV interface, scroll down to the Does your IPTV connection require a login? section and select the Yes radio button. 10. Note Encapsulation Enter the login name that you use to log in to your Internet service, as indicated by your ISP. This login name is often an email address. Login Enter the password that you use to log in to your Internet service, as indicated by your ISP. Password Enter the service name that you use to log in to your Internet service, as indicated by your ISP. Often, a service name is not required. Description Field Select how the Internet connection functions: •Always On. Once the Internet connection is established, it remains active. This is the def ault setting. • Dial on Demand. When someone attempts to connect to the Internet, the Inter net connection is established. When the idle time-out period expires, the Internet connection is terminated. • Manually Connect. You must connect to the Internet manually (see View, Rene w, or Release the TCP/IP Internet Connection on page 233 or View, Estab lish, or Terminate the PPPoE or PPPoA Internet Connection on page 235). Connection Mode If you select Dial on Demand from the Connection Mode menu, enter the idle time-out per iod in minutes. The idle time-out specifies how long the modem router keeps the Internet connection active when no one on the network is using the Internet connection. The default is 5 minutes. To disable the idle time-out, enter 0. (When you disable the idle time-out, the connection is not terminated automatically). Idle Timeout (minutes) Internet IP Address or IPTV IP Address (depending on your selection in Step 7) Your ISP uses DHCP to assign your IP address. Your ISP automatically assigns these addresses. Follow the directions that your ISP gave you. Note If you connect both a DSL modem and a cable or fiber modem to the modem router and you w ant to manually specify the settings for a cable or fiber Internet connection, you must first set the WAN connection preference manually to the Ethernet WAN port (see Change the Physical W AN Connection Preference on page 199). If you do not, the DSL settings take precedence over the cab le or fiber settings. However, we recommend that you connect only the modem that you intend to use for your Internet connection: a DSL modem, cable modem, or fiber modem.
