Page 51 6-2-3-2 Sensor Level Check This item is used to check the sensitivity of the four sensor assemblies\ . Ensure that the sensors are adjusted so that the results indicate “OK” for all four sensors. (see 5-5-3 page 40 for sensor adjustment) 1. Select “SENSOR LEVEL CHECK” from the I/OTEST menu. The following screen is displayed Note: The two sensors nearest the projector, view from the front, are indicated as “SENSOR 1”, and the two sensors nearest the player are indicate\ d as “SENSOR 2”. If any sensor shows “NG” instead of “OK” check the following\ before making adjustments to the sensors. (see 5-5-3 page 40) for sensor adjustment procedure.) There is an obstacle within the sensor area - Remove the obstacle The glass is dirty - Clean The reflective material is scratched - Repair the reflective material The connector is disconnected - Connect the connector. If “NG” is still displayed after the above checks have been made and the sensors adjusted, the sensor is faulty and will require replacing. 3. When all sensors show OK, press the Enter switch to return to the I/O Test menu screen. During this process the sensors conduct automatic adjustments. While the display shows the SENSOR INITIALIZATION screen, ensure that no objects, arm or sword are in the sense area. Note: Following the above test, conduct the SWORD TEST. (see 6-2-3-3 page 52)
Page 52 6-2-3-3 Sword Test This item checks the sword movement within the sense area. 1. Select “SWORD TEST” from the I/O menu screen. The following screen is displayed. 2. The screen will display the sword when the sword is placed in the sensor\ area. Check that the sword is displayed in the relevant position. * If “NOT WORKING” is displayed against either sensor, that numbersensor on either the left or right is malfunctioning. If this happens, t\ he angle of the sword displayed on the screen will be incorrect. 3. If the sword displayed on the screen is noticeably in the wrong position\ , check the sensor sensitivity. (see 6-2-3-2 page 51) If no problem with the sensor sensitivity is found, make the adjustments detailed in the “SWORD ADJUSTMENT” section (see 6-2-3-4 page 53) 4. Page 53 6-2-3-4 Sword Adjustment This item checks the sword alignment. This check should only be performed when the sword position is found to \ be incorrect during the “SWORD TEST” (see 6-2-3-3 page 52) and no problem is detected in the “SENSOR LEVEL CHECK”. (see 6-2-3-2 page 51) 1. Select “SWORD ADJUSTMENT” from the I/O menu screen. The following screen is displayed. 2. Place the blade of the sword inside the sensor area, in line with the ye\ llow square displayed on the screen. * Be sure to hold the sword at right angles to the screen. There is no n\ eed to touch the actual screen with the sword. (see diagram below) Hold the sword in this position until the counter reaches 0 or another p\ erson presses the start button. * the counter will start when the sword is placed in the sensor area. 3. Repeat item 2 for a red, blue and green square. 4. After pointing at all four squares, the setting completed screen will be displayed. Page 54 •If the adjustment procedures could not be completed correctly, select “RETRY” and press the Enter switch. Then, repeat the sword alignment adjustment from the beginning. •When the adjustment procedures have been completed successfully, select “SAVE & EXIT” and press the Enter button. The settings are saved, and the display returns to the I/O Test menu screen. •To keep the original settings without saving the settings just made, sele\ ct “EXIT” and press the Enter switch. The display returns to the I/O TEST menu screen. Page 55 6-2-3-5 Switch Test This item checks the operation of the game switches. 1. Select “SWITCH TEST” from the I/O menu screen. The following screen is displayed. (a) The counter will increment each time a credit signal is received from the coin mech. (b) ~ (f) The display will change from OFF to ON each time the corresponding switch is operated. (g) ~ (h) The display will change from OFF to ON each time the sword is placed within the sensor area. (i) This item is not used on this game. 2. Page 56 6-2-3-6 Lamp Test This item checks the operation of the Start button lamp. 1. Select “LAMP TEST” from the I/O menu screen. The following screen is displayed. 2. As soon as this screen is displayed, the Start button lamp will be lit. After a short period the ON message will change to OFF and the Start button lamp will turn off. The lamp will also turn off when exiting from the LAMP TEST Screen. 3. Select “EXIT” and press the Enter button to return to the I/O TEST Menu screen. Page 57 6-2-4 Monitor Test 1. Select “MONITOR TEST” on the menu screen to test and adjust the Monitor. The following screen is displayed. 2. Use the Select Up/Down switch to choose the required item then press the Enter button. To return to the Monitor Test Menu from a test pattern press the Enter button. 3. Select “EXIT” and press the Enter button to return to the menu screen. (a) Displays a colour gradation pattern. (b) Displays a crosshatch pattern for a CRT monitor. (Not used on this game) (c) Displays a crosshatch pattern for a projector. (d) Displays a bright white square. (e) Displays a medium white square. (f) Displays a dark white square. (g) Displays an interlace pattern. (h) Displays a height/width adjustment pattern for a CRT monitor. (Not used on this game) (i) Displays a height/width adjustment pattern for a projector. Page 58 6-2-5 Sound Test 1. Select “SOUND TEST” on the menu screen to test the audio and adjust the volume settings. The following screen is displayed. 2. Use the Select Up/Down switch to choose the required item then press the Enter button. 3. Use the Up/Down switch to change the setting. 4. Press the Enter button to return to item select mode 5. Select “EXIT” and press the Enter button to return to the menu screen. (a) GAME This sets the volume level of the sound during the Game Mode. [0 ~127, DEFAULT = 110] (b) ATTRACT This sets the volume level of the sound during the Attract Mode. [0 ~127, DEFAULT = 090] (c) REQUEST SONG No. Each number produces a different sound each time the service button is pressed. (The sound will turn off after approx 10 seconds) Number 001 will produce a stereo test. Sound will be produced from the left speaker then the right speaker and then both speakers. The message on the screen will display which speaker is active. (d) Displays details of the Request Song No. selected. Page 59 6-2-6 ADS Data (Bookkeeping) 1. Select “ADS DATA” from the menu screen to view the bookkeeping details. 2. Select “EXIT” and press the enter switch to return to the menu scr\ een. 6-2-7 Others 1. Select “OTHERS” on the menu screen to display the ROM version, to \ set the on screen language, display mode and to set all settings to factory default\ . 2. Use the Select Up/Down switch to choose the required item then press the\ Enter button. 3. Select “EXIT” and press the Enter button to return to the menu scr\ een. (a) Displays the software version (b) Not used on this game (c) Displays the serial number of the Game PCB (d) Used to select the language during the attract mode. (e) Sets the screen pause function. When set to ON, pressing the Enter switch will pause/play the screen action. By operating the Select Up switch, when in pause, the screen can be adva\ nced frame by frame. * When the screen is paused, sound will be turned off. (f) For factory use only. (g) Initializes the backup memory. Selecting this item and pressing the Enter button will display “YES”\ and “NO”. To clear all sword settings such as sword sight alignment and HIGH SCORE \ data to default settings, select “YES” and press the Enter button. *When BACKUP INITIALIZE has been executed, check (adjust) the sword alignment using the I/O TEST screen. Page 60 6-3 Self Test This machine performs a self-test routine (self-test and sensor initialization) automatically each time the power switch is turned on, or exiting the SENSOR LEVEL CHECK screen in the test mode. When the game is functioning correctly, the following screen is displayed after a short period of time. If there is an error, an error message (“WARNING”, “TEST FAILED”, etc) is displayed on the monitor, and the game stops operation. Rectify the problem according to the individual test results. Note: The two sensors nearest the projector, viewed from the front, are indicated as “SENSOR 1”, and the two sensors nearest the player are indicated as “SENSOR 2”. Note: If there is any obstruction within the sensor area, it will create a shadow and prevent correct sensitivity testing. Ensure that there are no obstructions, e.g. arm, sword or any other object within the sensor area when conducting this test. SENSOR INITIALIZING....
