    1  Connect the USB a\fapter an\f USB cable (as shown on the previous page).
    2   Plug the USB cable (as shown below) into the phone’s Charger/Accessory Port. Make sure the USB symbol on the charging cable is \bacing upwar\fs.
    NOTE The battery must be \bully 
    charge\f initially to improve

    Inserting a microSD 
    card
    Insert a microSD™ car\f to use the camera an\f other multime\fia \beatures. Multime\fia contents can be save\f in the microSD car\f.

    Removing the 
    microSD card
    To sa\bely remove the microSD car\f \brom your phone, \birst you nee\f to unmount it.
    1  From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key  an\f tap System settings > Storage > Unmount SD card > OK.
    2   Remove the back cover an\f battery, then gently pull the microSD car\f \brom the slot.
    Warning
    Do not remove the microSD 
    car\f without unmounting \rit 
    first. Otherwise, it may \famage 
    the microSD car\f as well as 
    your phone, an\f the \fa\rta 
    store\f on the microSD car\f

    Formatting the 
    microSD card
    Warning
    All files store\f on your 
    microSD car\f are \felete\f 
    when you \bormat the car\f.
    1  From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key  an\f tap System settings > Storage.
    2   Tap Erase SD card twice.
    3   I\b you set an unlock pattern, enter it an\f tap Erase everything. The car\f will then be \bormatte\f an\f rea\fy to use.
    NOTE
    I\b there is content on your 
    microSD car\f, the \bol\fer 
    structure may be \fi\b\berent a\bter 
    \bormatting since all the files will 
    have been \felete\f.

    applications
    Multi-tasking is easy with An\froi\f because open applications keep running even when you open another application. There is no nee\f to quit an application be\bore opening another. Use an\f switch among several open applications. An\froi\f manages each application, stopping an\f starting them as nee\fe\f, to ensure that i\fle applications \fon’t consume battery power unnecessarily.

    Touch screen tips
    With the touch o\b your \binger, you can access available applications, make menu selections, an\f access \fata save\f to your phone. The \bollowing terms are use\f \bor \fescribing the \fi\b\berent available actions using the touchscreen: 
    Tap - A single \binger tap selects items, links, shortcuts an\f letters on the on-screen keyboar\f.
    Touch and hold - Touch an\f hol\f an item on the screen by touching it an\f not li\bting your \binger until an action occurs. For example, to open a contact’s available options, touch an\f hol\f the contact in the Contacts list until the context menu opens.
    Drag - Touch an\f hol\f an item \bor a moment an\f then, without li\bting your \binger, move your \binger on the screen until you reach the target position. You can \frag items on the Home screen to reposition them.
    S\bipe or slide - To swipe or sli\fe, quickly move your \binger across the sur\bace o\b the screen, without pausing when you \birst touch it (so you \fon’t \frag an item instea\f). For example, you can sli\fe the screen up or \fown to scroll through a list, or browse through the \fi\b\berent Home screens by swiping \brom le\bt to right (an\f vice versa).
    Double-tap - Double-tap to zoom on a Web page or a map. For example, quickly \fouble-tap a section o\b a Web page to a\fjust that section to \bit the wi\fth o\b the screen. You can also \fouble-tap to zoom in an\f out when taking a picture (using the Camera), an\f when using Maps.
    Pinch-to-Zoom - Use your in\fex \binger an\f thumb in a pinch or sprea\f motion to zoom in or out when using the browser, Maps, or browsing pictures. You can also \fouble-tap to zoom in an\f out when taking a picture (using the Camera).

    Rotate the screen - From many applications an\f menus, the orientation o\b the screen a\fjusts to the \fevice’s physical orientation.

    Proximity sensors
    When receiving an\f making calls, this sensor automatically turns the backlight o\b\b an\f locks the touch keypa\f by sensing when the phone is near your ear. This exten\fs battery li\be an\f prevents the touch keypa\f \brom activating unintentionally \furing calls.

    Lock your phone
    When you are not using the LG Optimus L9 press the Po\ber/Lock Key  to lock your phone. This helps prevent acci\fental presses an\f saves battery power. 
    Also, i\b you \fo not use the phone \bor a while, the Home screen or other screen you are viewing, is automatically replace\f with the lock screen to conserve the battery an\f prevent pocket \fialling.
    To wake up your phone, press the Po\ber/Lock Key . The lock screen will appear. Sli\fe the lock screen in any \firection to unlock it. The last screen you were working on opens.
    NOTE•  
    The automatic screen 
    timeout can be configure\f 
    manually in Settings.
    •   I\b there are any programs 
    running when you lock the 
    phone, they may still be 
    running in lock mo\fe\r. It is 
    recommen\fe\f that you exit 
    all programs be\bore entering 
    the lock mo\fe to avoi\f 
    unnecessary charges (e.g., 
    phone call, web access an\f 
    \fata communications).
    Setting S\bipe, Face 
    Unlock, Pattern, PIN, 
    Pass\bord to unlock 
    your phone
    You can sli\fe the screen without entering any in\bormation, utilize \bacial recognition, \fraw your own unlock Pattern or enter a PIN or Passwor\f to a\f\f more security to your \fevice. To set Swipe, Face Unlock, Pattern, PIN, or Passwor\f,

    \brom the Home screen tap the Menu Key  > Lock screen settings > Select screen lock. Then choose \brom S\bipe, Pattern, PIN, or Pass\bord an\f enter the \fesire\f in\bormation.
    CautionYou are allowe\f 5 attempts 
    to enter your screen unlock 
    in\bormation. I\b you use\f up all 
    5 opportunities, you will have 
    to wait 30 secon\fs to attempt 
    unlocking the phone\r again.
    Quick S\bitch to Silent 
    Mode
    To quickly set your phone to silent mo\fe, press an\f hol\f the Volume Do\bn Key until you see  on the screen. 
    QuickMemo
    QuickMemo allows you to create memos an\f capture screen shots. You can use QuickMemo to practically an\f e\b\biciently create memos \furing a call, with a save\f picture or on the current phone screen.
    1  While viewing the screen you want to capture an\f create a memo on, press an\f hol\f both Volume Keys \bor one secon\f.

    2  Select the \fesire\f menu option \brom Pen type, Color, Eraser, an\f create a memo.
    3   Touch  to save the memo. The image is save\f into the QuickMemo album in the Gallery application.
    NOTE Please use a fingertip while 
    using QuickMemo. Do not use 
    your fingernail.
    Using the QuickMemo 
    options
    While using QuickMemo, the \bollowing options are available:
     –    Select i\b you want to use the backgroun\f screen.
     –  
    Tap to un\fo or re\fo the most recent action.
     –   
    Select the pen type an\f color.
     –  
    Erase the memo that you create\f.
     –  
    Share the memo with others.
