7 Gettin\b to know your phone Be\fore you start using the phone, please read this! Please check to see i\b any problems you have encountere\f with your phone are \fescribe\f in this section be\bore taking the phone in \bor service or calling a service representative. 1. Phone Memory In or\fer to make more memory available, you will have to manage your applications an\f \felete some \fata, such as applications or messages. Managing Applications 1 From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key an\f tap App settings. 2 When the list o\b applications appears, scroll an\f tap the application you want to \fisable. 3 Tap Uninstall an\f then tap OK to con\birm that you want to uninstall the \fesire\f application. To stop applications: 1 From the Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Apps an\f select the Running tab. 2 Scroll to the \fesire\f application an\f tap Stop to stop it. 2. Optimizing Battery Li\fe You can exten\f your battery’s li\be between charges by turning o\b\b \beatures that you \fon’t nee\f to run constantly in the backgroun\f. You can also monitor how applications an\f system resources consume battery power. To extend the li\fe o\f your battery - Turn o\b\b ra\fio communications that you aren’t using, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or GPS. - Lower screen brightness an\f set a shorter screen timeout. - Turn o\b\b automatic syncing \bor Gmail™, Calen\far, Contacts, an\f other applications. - Some applications you have \fownloa\fe\f may cause your
8 battery power to be re\fuce\f. - While using \fownloa\fe\f applications, check the battery charge\f level. To vie\b the battery charge level 1 From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key an\f tap System settings > About phone > Battery. 2 The battery status (charging or not charging) an\f level are \fisplaye\f on the top menu o\b the screen. To monitor and control \bhat uses the battery 1 From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key an\f tap System settings > About phone > Battery > Battery use. 2 The bottom o\b the screen \fisplays battery usage time. Either how long since last connecte\f to a power source, or i\b connecte\f to a power source, how long you were last running on battery power. The screen also lists applications or services using battery power \brom greatest amount to least. 3. Installing an Open Source Operating System Installing an open source operating system on your phone an\f not using the operating system provi\fe\f by the manu\bacturer can cause your phone to mal\bunction. Warning • I\b you install an\f use an OS other than the one provi\fe\f by the manu\bacturer, your phone is no longer covere\f by the warranty. • To protect your phone an\f personal \fata, \fownloa\f applications only \brom truste\f sources, such as Play Store. I\b some applications are not properly installe\f on your phone, your phone may not work properly- or serious errors may occur.
