3Firmly plug the rectangular end of the USB cable into the USB port of the computer. The USB port is marked with a USB symbol. Note: If you continue to have problems, then try another USB port on the computer. You may have connected to a defective port. REMOVE AND REINSTALL THE PRINTER SOFTWARE Printer is printing blank pages Blank pages may be caused by improperly installed ink cartridges. REINSTALL THE INK CARTRIDGES AND DEEP CLEAN AND ALIGN THE PRINTHEAD 1Reinstall the ink cartridges, see “Replacing ink cartridges” on page 13 for more information. If the cartridges do not seem to fit, make sure the printhead is properly seated, and then try installing the cartridges again. 2Load plain paper. 3From the printer control panel, press . 4Press the arrow buttons to scroll to Maintenance, and then press . 5Press the arrow buttons to scroll to Deep Clean Printhead, and then press . A cleaning page prints. 6Press the arrow buttons to scroll to Align Printer, and the press . An alignment page prints. Note: Do not remove the alignment page until printing is finished. Printer is busy or does not respond If the Before you troubleshoot checklist does not solve the problem, then try one or more of the following: MAKE SURE THE PRINTER IS NOT IN POWER SAVER MODE If the power light is blinking on and off slowly, then the printer is in Power Saver mode. Press to wake up the printer. If the printer will not come out of Power Saver mode, then reset the power: 1Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, and then wait 10 seconds. 2Insert the power cord into the wall outlet, and then turn on the printer. RECONNECT THE PRINTER POWER SUPPLY 1Turn off the printer, and then unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. 2Gently remove the power supply from the printer, and then reinsert it. 3Plug the power cord into the wall outlet, and then turn on the printer. Cannot delete documents from the print queue If you have jobs stuck in the print queue and cannot delete them to get other jobs to print, then the computer and printer may not be communicating. 1Push down the duplex latches and pull out the duplex unit. CAUTION—POTENTIAL INJURY: The area behind the duplex cover has protruding ribs as part of the paper path. To avoid injury, use caution when accessing this area for clearing a paper jam. 2Firmly grasp the paper, and then gently pull it out. Note: Be careful not to tear the paper while removing it. 3Reinsert the duplex unit. 4Touch DONE or press , depending on your printer model. 5From your computer, resume the print job. Paper or specialty media misfeeds These are possible solutions if paper or specialty media misfeeds or skews, or if multiple sheets feed or stick together. Try one or more of the following: CHECK PAPER CONDITION Use only new, unwrinkled paper. CHECK PAPER LOADING Load a smaller amount of paper into the printer. Load paper with the print side faceup. (If you are not sure which side is the printable side, see the instructions that came with the paper.) Check the loading instructions for your paper or specialty media. Bottom margin: 12.7 mm (0.5 in.) SELECT THE BORDERLESS PRINT FEATURE For Windows users 1 With a document or photo open, click File > Print. 2Click Properties, Preferences, Options, or Setup. 3From the Paper Options area of the Print Setup tab, select Borderless. For Macintosh users 1 With a photo open, choose File > Page Setup. If there is no Page Setup item on the File menu, then go to step 2. Otherwise, specify your print settings: aFrom the Settings pop-up menu, choose Page Attributes. bFrom the “Format for” pop-up menu, choose your printer. cFrom the Paper Size pop-up menu, choose a paper size that has “(Borderless)” in its name.
