    Status, Error, and Service Messages
    Status, error, and service messages are displayed in the control panel mes-
    sage window. They provide information about your printer and help you locate 
    many problems. When the condition associated with a displayed message 
    has changed, the message is cleared from the window.
    Standard Status Messages
    This message... means... do this...
    CANCELLING JOBThe job is being cancelled.  No action needed.
    COPYINGThe printer is printing with 
    the collating function.
    ENERGY SAVERThe printer is in Energy 
    Saver mode to reduce 
    power consumption during 
    periods of inactivity. When a 
    print job is received, the 
    printer returns to normal 
    power within 30 seconds.
    FIRMWARE UPDATEThe firmware is being 
    updated.
    INITIALIZINGThe printer is being initial-
    ized.
    OFFLINEThe printer is offline. To print on a 
    network, change 
    the 
    TELNET 
    setting so it is 
    online.
    PRINTINGThe printer is printing. No action needed.
    PROCESSINGThe printer is processing 
    data.
    READYThe printer is on and ready 
    to receive data.
    REBOOTINGThe printer is being 
    restarted.
    WARMING UPThe printer is warming up.

    DEVICE
    NOT SUPPORTEDAn incompatible 
    device is connected 
    to the USB port of this 
    printer.Use a device compatible 
    with the USB port of this 
    printer.
    FUSER UNIT
    END OF LIFEThe fuser unit has 
    reached the end of its 
    life.Contact Technical Sup-
    port with the error infor-
    mation.
    HDD 
    NEAR FULLThe hard disk is 
    nearly full.Delete print jobs saved 
    on the hard disk.
    HUBS
    NOT SUPPORTEDAn incompatible USB 
    hub is connected to 
    the USB port of this 
    printer.Use a USB hub 
    compatible with the USB 
    port of this printer.
    INCORRECT
    HDDSince the hard disk 
    was formatted with a 
    different machine, the 
    hard disk could not be 
    used.Replace the hard disk 
    with one compatible with 
    this machine, or select 
    HDD FORMAT from 
    SYS DEFAULT MENU 
    and format the hard 
    disk.
    INCORRECT
    MEMORY CARDSince the 
    CompactFlash card 
    was formatted with a 
    different machine, the 
    CompactFlash card 
    could not be used.Replace the 
    CompactFlash card with 
    one compatible with this 
    machine, or select 
    CARD FORMAT from 
    SYS DEFAULT MENU

    CompactFlash card.
    MEMORY CARD
    NEAR FULLThe CompactFlash 
    card is nearly full.Delete resources (fonts, 
    forms, etc.) which saved 
    on the CompactFlash 
    card by using Download 
    Manager or PSWC.
    NON SUPPORT
    CARDSince incompatible 
    CompactFlash card 
    was inserted into the

    Service Messages:
    These messages indicate a more serious error that can only be corrected by 
    a customer service engineer. If one of these messages appears, turn the 
    printer off, then turn it on again. If the problem persists, contact your local 
    vendor or authorized service provider.

    SERVICE CALL XXXX
    “Error”An error has been 
    detected with the item 
    indicated “XXXX” in the 
    service message.
    Information about errors 
    appears at the bottom of 
    the message window.Reboot the printer. This 
    often clears the service 
    message, and printer 
    operation can resume. 
    If the problem persists, 
    contact Technical Sup-
    port.
