NOTE: The system manufacturer is responsible fo r selecting the level of risk factors in
accordance with EN954-1. (Stop categories are defined by EN60204-1.)
Wiring ExamplesThe examples of wiring shown below are based on the three stop categories compliant with
European Machinery Directive EN60204-1.
Category 0: (Uncontrolled) stopping by immedi ate removal of power to machine actuators
Category 1: Stopping by removal of power af ter...

S13 Emergency stop button – Switches the inve rter into safe stop mode and the motor into
free-running status
S14 Start/stop button – Switches the inverter into safe stop mode by [EMR] signal input to a
digital input terminal and sets the motor into free-running status. (This operation corre-
sponds to EN60204-1 Stop Category 0.)
Safe stop mode continues as long as the [EMR] signal is input or until the [RS] signal is
input even...

Choosing a Programming Device
IntroductionHitachi variable frequency drives (inverters) use the latest el ectronics technology for getting the
right AC waveform to the motor at the right time. The benefits are many, including energy
savings and higher machine output or productivity. The flexibility required to handle a broad
range of applications has required ever more configurable options and parameters—inverters
are now a complex...

Using Keypad Devices
Inverter Front
Panel KeypadThe SJ7002 Series inverter front ke ypad contains all the elemen ts for both monitoring and
programming parameters. The keypad layout (OPE–SRE) is shown below. All other
programming devices for the inverter have a similar key arrangement and function.
Key and
Indicator LegendRun/Stop LED – ON when the inverter output is ON and the motor is developing torque,
and OFF when the inverter output is OFF...

Navigational MapWhether you use the keypad on the inverter or the read-write copy unit, each navigates the same
way. The diagram below shows the basic navi gational map of parameters and functions.
NOTE: The inverter 7-segment display shows lower ca se “b” and “d”, meaning the same as the
upper case letters “B” and “D” used in this manual (for uniformity “A to F”).

Operational
ModesThe RUN and PGM LEDs tell  just part of the story;
Run Mode and Program Modes are independent
modes, not opposite modes. In the state diagram to
the right, Run alternates with Stop, and Program
Mode alternates with Monitor Mode. This is a very
important ability, for it shows that a technician can
approach a running machine and change some
parameters without shu tting down the machine.
The occurrence of a faul t during operation...

Monitoring
FunctionsYou can access important system parameter valu es with the “D” Group monitoring functions,
whether the inverter is in Run Mode or Stop Mode. After selecting the function code number
for the parameter you want to monitor, press th e Function key once to show the value on the
display. In Functions D005 and D006 the intellig ent terminals use individual segments of the
display...
