2.5 AC/DC Power Supply Unit
The universal AC/DC power supply provides an isolated 15.5 V supply for the S/5 Compact Monitor. 
The power unit is attached to the Frame Unit by four screws and a power-D25 connector. 
The cooling air for the AC/DC unit is from the Frame Unit fan through cooling holes in the Frame Unit

2.9.2 Serial Data Interface
The Serial Data Interface connector is a 9-pin male D-connector (X3) on the side of the AC/DC power 
unit.
The serial interface is an asyncronous RS-232 connection which uses hardware flow control. The

3 Service procedures
3.1 General service information
The field service of the S/5 Compact Anesthesia Monitor and S/5 Compact Critical Care Monitor is 
limited to replacing faulty PC boards and mechanical parts. Return the faulty PC boards to GE 
Healthcare for repair.

3.2.3 Before beginning
•
Make sure that the monitor is switched to standby.
•Disconnect the power cord and press the service reset switch until the LED next to it turns off.
•If the monitor is connected to the Datex-Ohmeda Network, disconnect the Mon-Net cable. Take 
out any memory cards, if installed.
•Remove the AC/DC Power Unit....

•there are no loose objects inside the battery slot
Reattach the bottom cover.

•the four rubber pads under the monitor are all in place
•all stickers are intact
•the Display Unit is attached properly
•all mechanical parts are functioning properly
•the service reset switch is intact

Reconnect the fuse holder and check that it locks up properly.

3.2.5 Functional inspection
