    hood and hood cap.

    The camera does
    not turn on.
    The zoom ring (ON/OFF switch ) is not correctly rotated: Rotate the zoom
    ring to  [OFF] and then rotate the zoom ri ng again to the point between
    28 and 112.
    The battery is exhausted: Charge the battery or  insert a fully-charged
    spare battery.
    The battery is inserted incorrectly:  Reinsert in the correct orientation.
    The battery-chamber c over is not latched: Latch the battery-chamber
    cover.
    The camera was turned on immediate ly after having been turned off:
    Press the shutte r button halfway.
    The battery runs
    down quickly.
    The battery is cold: Warm the battery by placin g it in a pocket or other
    warm place and reinsert it in the camera immediately before tak ing a
    picture.
    There is dirt on the battery terminals:  Clean the terminals with a soft,
    dry cloth.
    [HIGH PERFORMANCE]  is selected for [POWER MANAGEMENT] :
    Select  [POWER SAVE] to reduce the drain on the battery.
     is selected for shooting mode: Select   mode to reduce the drain
    on the battery.
    [TRACKING]  is selected for [AF MODE] : Select a different AF mode
    [C] is selected for focus mode:  Select a different focus mode.
    The battery has been charged many times:  The battery has reached the
    end of its charging life.  Purchase a new battery.

    The camera turns
    off suddenly.
    The zoom ring (ON/OFF switch ) is not correctly rotated: Rotate the zoom

    The camera has entered sleep mode:  Press the shutter button halfway.

    The camera has turned off automatically:  Turn the camera on.
    The indicator lamp was orange when you attempted to record a
    panorama:  Wait until the indicator lamps turns off.
    The LCD monitor goes
    dark after shooting. The LCD monitor may darken while
     the flash charges. Wait for the
    flash to charge.
    The camera does not
    focus.
    The subject is close to the camera:  Select macro mode.
    The subject is far away from the camera:  Cancel macro mode.
    The subject is not suited to autofocus: Use focus lock.

    is not available.
    Intelligent Face Detec tion is not available in the current shoo ting
    mode:  Choose a different shooting mode.
    No face is detected.
    The subjectʼs face is obscured by sunglasses, a hat, long hair,  or
    other objects:  Remove the obstructions.
    The subjectʼs face occupies onl y a small area of the frame:
    Change the composition so that  the subjectʼs face occupies a
    larger area of the frame.
    The subjectʼs head is tilted or horizontal:  Ask the subject to hold
    their head straight.
    The camera is tilted:  Keep the camera level.
    The subjectʼs face is poorly lit:  Shoot in bright light.
    Wrong subject is
    selected. The selected subject is closer t
    o the center of the frame than  the
    main subject. Recompose the picture or turn face detection off a nd
    frame the picture using focus lock.
    The flash does not fire.
    The flash is not available in  the current shooting mode:  Choose a
    different shooting mode.
    The camera is in super macro o r continuous shooting mode: Turn
    super macro and continuous shooting modes off.
    The battery is exhausted:  Charge the battery or insert a fully-
    charged spare battery.
    The camera is in silent mode:  Turn silent mode off.
    The flash is not raised: Raise the flash.
    Some flash modes are
    not available.
    The desired flash mode is not ava ilable in the current shooting
    mode:  Choose a different shooting mode.
    The camera is in silent mode:  Turn silent mode off.
    The flash does not fully
    light the subject.
    The subject is not i n range of the flash: Position the subject in
    range of the flash.
    The flash window is obstructed:  Hold the camera correctly.
    Fast shutter speed selected: Choose a slower shutter speed.

    Pictures are blurred.
    The lens is dirty:  Clean the lens.
    The lens is blocked:  Keep objects away from the lens.

    Pictures are mottled.
    A slow shutter speed is sel ected at high temperatures:  This is
    normal and does not indicated a malfunction.
    The camera has been used conti nuously at high temperatures or
    a temperature warning is displayed:  Turn the camera off and wait
    for it to cool down.
    The viewfinder display is
    not clear.
    Diopter adjustment is no t adjusted correctly: Slide the diopter
    adjustment control up  and down until the viewfinder display is in
    sharp focus.
    Sounds made by the
    camera are recorded with
    movies.
    The focus mode selector is set to  [C]. Select a different focus
    mode.
    Intelligent Face D etection is on: Turn Intelligent Face Detection
    off.
    Problem Solution
    Pictures are grainy. The pictures  were taken with a different make or model of camera.
    Playback zoom
    unavailable. The picture has been saved at  , or is from another make or mode

    of camera.
    No sound in movie
    playback.
    The camera is in silent mode:  Turn silent mode off.
    Playback volume is too low: Adjust playback volume.
    The microphone was obstructed:  Hold the camera correctly during
    recording.
    The speaker is obstructed:  Hold the camera correctly during
    playback.
    Selected pictures are
    not deleted. Some of the pictures selected fo
    r deletion are protected. Remove
    protection using the device with  which it was originally applied.
